Body found thought to be missing woman

After the mother of three had been missing more than a week, friends and family organized a search party at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to find her.

The search ended that morning, when one of Leili’s co-workers found a body “under a pile of sticks and leaves” in the Oak Village subdivision — the missing woman’s neighborhood.  Sister, Amy Elk, said the body was discovered less than a mile from Leili’s home.

Authorities say Nique Leili called 911 on June 28 at 6:47 a.m. 911 from the home she shared with her husband on Sydney's Cove.

Two weeks later, Matthew Leili reported his wife missing, and a few days later, he filed for divorce, citing cruel treatment. Five days after she was reported missing, Nique Leili’s body was discovered near the entrance to their subdivision after a search by family and friends on Saturday.

Family petitions for custody of slain woman's kids

The family of a slain Gwinnett County mother is asking that custody of the woman's young daughters be granted to a grandparent, rather than the children remaining with a murder suspect.

The couple's two daughters, ages 12 and 9, have remained with their father since Nique Leili was reported missing a week ago.

Police lay out timeline of suspicion in woman's death

July 11, 2011 -- Matt Leili, the woman's husband, reported her missing to police. Leili told police his wife was missing since July 9, 2011, but didn't report her missing until two days later.

July 12, 2011 -- Gwinnett County Police assign the missing persons case to a homicide detective.

July 13, 2011 -- Matt Leili filed divorce papers in Gwinnett County Superior Court even though his wife was still missing.

July 15, 2011 -- The Gwinnett County detective went to the Leili's home to interview Matt Leili and the couple's two daughters, ages 12 and 9. Leili told the detective he had hired an attorney and neither he nor his two children would answer questions.

July 16, 2011 -- Nique Leili's 19-year old daughter from a previous marriage organized a search for her mother. Less than an hour after the search started, a body was found in a wooded area not far from the Leili's home.

Legal fight ensues over woman’s body

Leili’s eldest daughter, Alex Page, 19, filed a petition with the court as a means to halt funeral proceedings and take control of her mother’s remains. Page and other family members are fearful they could be barred from attending her funeral, which they say Leili’s husband, Matt Leili, has not invited them to.

   What a jerk.
