Hotshot, J4N and R. Stephanie Good at Beth's book signing:

Hi, fellow Natalee supporters!

Just got back from Beth's book signing on Long Island, NY.

I gave Beth a pink rose and told her it was a token of our love and support from Scared Monkeys. I also gave her a hug from the group. I told her we were behind her 100% and to just let us know how we can help. She was very appreciative and said, "Just keep those Scared Monkeys going!"

There was a good turn-out and Beth got a warm welcome in NY. She conducted herself with the utmost grace and class. And she did look at ease, although her eyes did seem to tear up when she first said Natalee's name.

Hotshot took some great pics and there is a really cute one of Beth in front of the sign advertising her appearance.

( I am not in the pictures because I am camera shy, but Hotshot can vouch that I was there. LOL)

All in all, it was a successful night for Beth, and she was as gracious as I expected her to be.

Evening Monkeys
I also just got home & wanted to tell everyone who didn't get to join us, we had a wonderful time. Beth was very gracious & well spoken as usual. She is such an inspiration!!
I really enjoyed getting to meet Shadow & was great to see MsMarple & Sunfreak again.

October 4, 2007 - Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Buckhead, Atlanta GA - 7:00 pm

Monkeys at Beth's "Loving Natalee" signing

There were 30 +/- folks there - about as many chairs available. Four monkeys: msmarple, SunFreak, Shadow, and yapperz, plus Mr. yapperz. We had a dozen yellow roses in a lead crystal vase ready for her, on the signing table, before she arrived. We signed a card for her that featured a monkey on the front ... (you just don't see those every day).

One of the folks there was a man who was talking to "Linda" via cell phone when Beth got The Call - Linda was in the car with Beth; this is mentioned in the book.

Beth looked great (but we already knew that). When she realized monkeys were in the house, she got worried because she was wearing the same outfit that she wore in NY.

She took a dozen or so questions. What I remember most:

* Aruba asked the FBI for nothing, so they could do nothing.

* The "four Dutch investigators" she has talked to are great; "like the FBI" ...

* She sees no avenue in terms of international law/court.

* She thinks that the negative people (my term) must be from Aruba.

* She has spoken in 20 states to <?> thousands of students.

* The book is intended to reach a greater mass of people.

* A student at Auburn is working with the foundation - I think she said they had gotten two one-year grants - gathering information from all over the world re. crimes involving travelers. (The information is hard to come by.)

* She started the book in December 2006.

The monkeys had a delightful gathering before the signing. Yap and SunFreak are fun people. Shadow is beautiful and artsy. (msmarple merely trolls for corpses.)

Shadow and Mr. Yap took pictures.

you know, it makes me sick, that there are ppl that just dare to hurt and try to destroy...look at that pathetic man...he has no life...how can you not respect this woman...I hope and pray that he reads her book and then tells her story. cause that is how I feel even more strongly about now...just telling anyone who will listen Beth and Natalees story especially after finishing it.I am spitting mad that the stinkin lieruba gov. did this like we can be stopped. Boycott this volcanic ashe until we shut them down...and only then will the drug lords and corrupt ppl in power  leave. That sweatshirt was so sad but so true. How can I get one...anyone?

Beth is such an impressive speaker and has such strong faith.  I admire her tenacity at being Natalee's voice until all that can be done has been done.  I pray for energy to keep her going.

If you really have information I suggest you go directly to the FBI office in Birmingham Alabama.  They have the ability to check you and your information out far better than Beth.

the fbi will do nothing. they are only slightly more competent than the police. If they were, she would already have been brought back.
i will assume you do not know and find Beth myself.

ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

« Reply #14 on: May 29, 2009, 12:51:17 AM »

I recently bought Beth's book "Loving Natalee" in paperback.  She's added an epilogue at the end.

Pages 232-235

Epilogue

November 18, 2008

Dutch crime reporter Peter de Vries was apparently just getting started when he discovered those astonishing facts about Natalee’s case discussed in the previous chapter.  His investigation concluded with a remarkable taped confession from Joran van der Sloot himself.  Perhaps you saw the ABC News 20/20 special in 2008 on “The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway,” during which Joran’s confession was broadcast.  Joran was videotaped as he told an undercover informant that he was with Natalee when she experienced some kind of seizure and might have died.  He said he didn’t know what to do, so he decided to get rid of her body.  He confessed that he arranged for someone with a boat to dump her body at sea.

He said he wasn’t sure if she was still alive or not.

But Natalee had never had a seizure.  Never in her whole life.

So with this confession, now I know what happened to her.

Natalee was never in a crack house.  She was never in that jeep.  She was never in that restaurant or that pizza parlor.  She was never in a brothel or hidden away on a cruise ship.  She was never in all those awful places we searched day in and day out for months, hoping to find her.

When she was least able to defend herself, she was taken.  She was escorted out of Carlos ‘n Charlie’s by Joran and his friends and never seen again.  I believe she was given a date rape drug and overdosed, producing that “seizure” he tells about.  But we’ll never have the opportunity to find out what actually happened, because Joran van der Sloot said he called someone to dispose of her body.  He didn’t call for help for Natalee.  He didn’t try to get medical attention.  He just got rid of her.

Even with this confession, the Aruban authorities will not take action against the judge’s son.  There is nothing I can do to get justice for Natalee.  They just don’t do things like we do.  Their system isn’t like ours.

Since 2005 I’ve certainly learned a great deal about things I never wanted to learn.  Being a teacher, I found myself asking, “What can I teach others from our tragic lessons? What can I do for others who have done so much for us?”  That’s why I’m still focused on the two goals I talk about in the “Lessons” chapter.  Talking to students about personal safety and travel safety is still my primary goal, and I’m delighted that I’ve had the opportunity to visit numerous high school and college campuses to deliver my message---Natalee’s message.  I want to continue these safety presentations as well as make my Travel Ed Workshop available to travelers of all ages.  The Travel Ed Workshop is a pre-departure preparation workshop.  For more about these presentations, please contact info@traveledworkshop.com.

A number of years have passed since Natalee disappeared and I understand now how grief changes colors over time.  It never goes away---just changes, softening ever so slightly.  Natalee would be very proud of her brother, Matt, who is fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional pilot.  The solo flights he has made to visit his grandmother in Arkansas seem to give him the greatest sense of accomplishment.  He is majoring in aviation and business and will finish college soon.  I’ve gone back to teaching part time; having regained the capacity to meet the demands of my precious special needs preschoolers.  Mom and I still get together for family reunions at the lake.  The friends who stood by me are still standing by.  Sunny still helps me prepare for speaking engagements and travels with me around the country.  And on these trips I get to meet people who remember what our family endured---who remember Natalee—and their kind words of encouragement still give me great comfort.  Natalee would be a senior in college now, and I imagine she would be looking at medical schools—and they would be looking at her.  She had such big plans.  I feel the saddest when I think about everything she missed out on.

I wanted to communicate in this book how hope evolved in three distinct phases to see us through our tragedy.  In the first phase, we had the hope to find Natalee.  That dissolved, ebbed, as those early days passed.  But hope reappeared in the second phase: the hope to find out what happened to her.  With Joran’s taped confession I suppose we have that answer.  Finally, I guess you could say I’m still living in the third, sustaining phase: the hope that I can do something to help others avoid getting into a tragic situation.  Natalee could have been anyone.  Maybe your son or daughter.  Maybe you.  I’ll deliver Natalee’s story and message of personal safety for as long as I’m able.  If even just one life is saved, then I’ll know this mission was essential.  And if even just one young person thinks twice about his or her personal safety, then I’ll know it was successful.

Peter de Vries won an international Emmy Award in 2008 for his undercover investigation that yielded Joran’s confession.  Many speculate whether this will be the final work in Natalee’s case or not.

I still believe there’s more.

3/2/2010

Beth Holloway visited Barnes & Noble at Mississippi State for a book signing Tuesday afternoon.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=156540&id=252500297565

News crews arrived shortly before 2pm and people were already waiting for her as early as 12 noon.

The line looked long and stayed that way but it was great because Ms. Holloway didn't rush anyone.

People arrived all the way until 4pm to get their book signed.

Ms. Holloway signed over 100 copies from 2:30p to 4pm

Ms. Holloway posed for pictures and signed even copies of the local newspaper that talked about the event.

We all enjoyed her visit.

Sharing her story

Beth Holloway, left, mother of long-missing student Natalee Holloway, signs a copy of her book, “Loving Natalee: A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith”for Lauren Marconi at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at Mississippi State University on Tuesday. The book signing drew dozens to the bookstore, which nearly sold all 150 copies of Holloway’s book at the event. Holloway also spoke in a public program Tuesday night at the Humphrey Coliseum, discussing personal safety issues with MSU students while on spring break both inside and outside the U.S.
