Probation office expecting Casey Anthony to report in Orlando

(Reuters) - Casey Anthony, the single mother acquitted last month of murdering her toddler, must report to an Orlando probation office by 10 a.m. on Thursday, a corrections spokeswoman said.

Unless a judge rules otherwise, Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger said on Wednesday that Anthony, 25, will be expected to begin serving a year of probation on check fraud charges.

"If she does not check in by 10 a.m., we will notify the court," Plessinger told reporters.

I'm confused.  At the hearing with Judge Strickland where C-word pleaded guilty, I thought JS gave one year probation for each of the remaining four charges.

I think the defense has a lotta nerve, since JS cut her a break by reducing the number of felony convictions for check fraud.

According to Mark Nejame, it is possible to serve probation while incarcerated, but your attorney has to make that request and get it all set up.  Baez and Mason failed to make that request.   

Guess they never really thought she would get out.

Casey Anthony in Ohio as Thursday Probation Deadline Looms

Photos emerged today of Casey Anthony strolling the streets of Ohio as her lawyers fought an order that would require her to report to a Florida probation officer Thursday morning.

The legal battle prompted Judge Stan Strickland, who ordered Anthony to return to Florida to serve out a year's probation, to recuse himself from the case today. He did not specify his reason for the recusal.

The case will now be handled by Judge Belvin Perry, the same judge who presided over the murder trial. Unless Perry blocks Strickland's order, Anthony will be required to report to a probation officer in Orlando by Thursday at 10 a.m., said Gretl Plessinger, the communications director for the Florida Department of Corrections.

Anthony has been in hiding since her acquittal and release from jail on July 17. If ordered back to Florida for probation, she will likely be flushed out into the open again.

"She will be treated as any other offender," said Plessinger. "Her address where she lives will be made public."

In January 2010, Strickland sentenced Anthony to serve 412 days in jail and a year's probation after she pleaded guilty to stealing checks from her friend Amy Huizenga during the time that Caylee was missing.

Strickland claimed in court documents filed Monday that he intended for Anthony to serve the year's probation once she was released from jail. He also required that Anthony pay $348 in court costs and $20 a month for the supervision required with her probation sentence. She is also barred from any contact with Huizenga.

Her defense team fired back, filing a legal challenge Tuesday saying Strickland's order would put Anthony in "great peril" because she has received death threats since her release from jail.

The legal challenge filed by attorney Cheney Mason also claims that Anthony has already served her probation while in jail for the last three years.

The Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman appears to agree with Mason, saying that Anthony began serving her probation on day 410 of her jail sentence.

If the order for Anthony to serve probation is upheld, Anthony can ask to serve the probation out of state but that doesn't happen overnight, said Plessinger.

Anthony would also be required to get a job and submit to random drug tests.

While Strickland did not specify his reasons for recusing himself from the probation argument, Mason's filing charged that the judge made comments on the Nancy Grace show that indicated he bias against Anthony.

He told Grace after the acquittal, "I just couldn't believe it. ... I try to think why it occurred and I'm still not sure."

I really hate to say this but I too believe she will get a free pass yet again. After all she is an Anthony and nothing they seem to do gets punished.  I hope all of their lives will become a living hell.  I hope all the money from the death of Caylee dries up for them.

The night she got released there were two planes that left for KORL..  The first was the "golfers" that were heading to Ohio -  a Lear jet, left Orlando at 1:04 a.m., arriving in Youngstown, Ohio, where Casey's uncle lives, at 2:51 a.m.  http://www.insideedition.com/news/6597/where-is-casey-anthony.aspx

The second one was the one that went to Panama City, Houston, Arizona, Cali. 

I still think they shoved her into one of the golf bags and wheeled her into the first plane and that she is in Ohio.  IMO those images are her.  The ear, the dimple in the chin, etc all match and the video has he slut strutting.

Wednesday afternoon, Local 6 reporter Tony Pipitone confirmed that Anthony has been granted a stay by Perry. The stay does not mean Anthony will never have to serve the probation, just that she does not have to appear by Thursday morning.
