RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- An attorney who worked on Casey Anthony's defense team told 10News on Tuesday that his former client is not living in his Rancho Santa Fe mansion after reports surfaced that Anthony was hiding out at his home.

10News reporter Allison Ash was the only reporter in the country who was invited inside Todd Macaluso's home to see if there were any signs of Anthony, who was acquitted last month in the death of her daughter Caylee.

"I didn't find Casey Anthony," said Ash, who said she was given access to every room in the house, including bathrooms, closets and the detached guest house on Macaluso's sprawling $5.2 million estate.

This is such a joke. First, Macaluso is one crooked dude and a proven liar. If Casey is indeed staying there, all they had to do was have her leave the house, with her belongings, while the reporter was allowed inside.  I don't give a rats ass where she is and I wish she would just disappear from the face of the earth.

Adding to the debacle that has become Casey Anthony's in-jail probation is the fact that she did not pay court, investigation, prosecution or supervision costs related to her check-fraud case.

Investigative costs came to $5,517 in that case – an amount that Judge Stan Strickland initially meant for her to pay, according to a transcript of Anthony's Jan. 25, 2010 sentencing.

But during that proceeding, Strickland reserved ruling on paying those investigative costs because there was uncertainty about the prosecution cost amount. He advised the prosecution and defense to work together on the matter and said, "We'll deal with it later."

They never revisited the issue, according to the state.

spokesman for states attorneys office say they have to plans to go after the money owed? why the hell not? if it was you or me, there would be paperwork filed immediately to pay the costs..even if it was $5 a month she needs to pay it like any other criminal! grrrr...

Why did George and Cindy Anthony make a surprise appearance at a tribute to their late granddaughter Tuesday night?

In footage shown by WESH-Channel 2, Cindy said she hoped the event would ”bring some closure, some peace to people” because “we need to move forward as a community and as a people.

WFTV talked to Karen Lim, a Caylee supporter, who said she wouldn’t contribute to the memorial unless she knew George and Cindy Anthony were not involved. “I don’t trust them, never have,” Lim said.

On the heels of the highly publicized Casey Anthony trial earlier this summer, state legislatures throughout the country have moved toward creating laws that would increase punishments for parents who conceal or fail to report a child's disappearance within a reasonable amount of time, their own variations on the so-called "Caylee's Law."

Illinois now joins states including Florida, Maryland, Alabama, Colorado, California, Wisconsin and a number of others who have called for such laws. Sixteen states introduced their variations on the law within a week of the announcement of Anthony's verdict on July 5.
