I'm trying to catch up. Any chance Robyn could have been an escort?

Missing in Aruba: Suspect Took Out $1.5 Million Insurance

Authorities in Aruba are investigating an insurance policy taken out by Gary Giordano before his trip to Aruba as a possible motive in the disappearance of missing Maryland woman Robyn Gardner.

The investigation into the $1.5 million accidental death policy on Gardner -- which names Giordano as a beneficiary -- has been confirmed exclusively with ABC News by a police source in Aruba, as has the fact that he purchased the pricier one-year policy over the cheaper, more commonly purchased five-year policy.
 ::snipping2::

it should not be allowed for just anyone to take out an insurance policy on someone else unless they have a connection with said person..such as marriage, family member, etc...
this is just sickening that he planned this whole thing!

You would think that the person who the policy is taken out on would have to be present and sign this policy.  I cannot believe this guy actually thought that he would get away with this.  The insurance company may have let him have the policy but I don't think they just hand over 1.5 million dollars without an investigation.
So disgusting.  This poor woman and her family.
And he didn't get rid of her in the USA, he took her to Aruba - I wonder what was on his computer, ie. Natalee Holloway disappearance, areas in Aruba, maps, What did he arrange for beforehand? besides the insurance policy - Did he access a boat, or pay some people off?

Hey Klaas & mods!     Could Robyn get her own forum please? I'm just asking bc there's alot of people, documents, social media, etc that's involved in this case & it could all be broken down if Robyn had a forum dedicated to her case. I'm coming across some pretty interesting comments made by people regarding SEVERAL acquaintances surrounding Robyn.

Hey guys.  There are lots of translators.  I use google a lot.  However, this language of Aruba, Papiamento (sp) is not easily translated.  In fact, sometimes it seems more screwed up after translation.

Maybe Texasmom will swing by and help out.  She's been doing this so long in the Natalee thread, I think she sort of understands this stuff.

There are a couple of others who can help, I'm just not one of them!

All you have to do is copy the link to the article, go to Google, click on More, then click on Translate, then paste the link and it designers it for you into whatever language is your preference.

Translating this material is hard, since there aren't many Papiamento translators online that REALLY work.

Since their language is derived from Spanish, Portuguese, and some other, translators only translate the words they recognize.

Since I know Spanish and Portuguese, I can make sense out of what the newspaper articles say, but cannot translate word for word.

Anyway, how did he get the insurance policy without the policy holder being present?

Maybe he told the insurance salesman that she was his common-law wife, or live in girlfriend.

I agree, the insurance agency could not hand over the $1.5 mills without a proper investigation, and I cannot believe he thought he could get away with it.

I'm sure he was thinking that, like Natalee's body, her body would not be recovered, thus not showing that he murdered her.

From that article, it said that blood was found on a rock by the beach. Was there mention of a condom? Or is that one of my bad translations?

Travel insurance with Robyn's mother as the beneficiary was reported early on.

When I find articles written in Spanish (for Peru--covering news about Joran) or in Dutch, I use the Google Translate site -- http://translate.google.com/#  .  It gives a fairly good translation.  Just copy the text from the original article and paste it into the translator area of the site.  Texasmom is very good with translating articles/information from Aruba.

Okay, if the policy is not life insurance but travel insurance, then it looks better for him.

Though, he kept inviting women to Aruba, so I wonder if he had planned accidental drowning trips before.

He being the beneficiary instead of her family or (alleged) boyfriend back home seems a little odd.

There is no actual Papiamento translator online that I know of.

This one is Papiamentu, and sometimes it helps but it's still hard to decipher some things no matter how hard I try...

This is the Papiamentu translator that I use.

Papiamento is not a popular language, so the articles are not translating correctly. Sad

Aruban authorities probe insurance policy in missing woman case
August 17th, 2011

 ::snipping2::

Giordano himself told authorities about the travel insurance, Stein said, and the FBI brought copies of the policy to Aruba this week. Investigators were still going through the documents, and Stein could not confirm the amount of the coverage or who the beneficiary was.

Local reports - citing sources close to the investigation - have said that a bloody hand print was found on stones behind the Nanki Country Club, at the same spot where the pair was said to be snorkeling.

"The blood discovery is interesting," Stein said, but he did not confirm or deny the details in the local reports. He gave the same response when asked about reports that an unused condom was also found at the location

http://arubaherald.com/911/863-possible-evidence-in-missing-womans-case-condom-and-blood-on-a-stone.html

A few days ago, reporters asked suspect Gary Giordano’s attorney Michael Lopez if he knew of a condom to be among the items being tested in the case against his client. Lopez said he was not aware of this.
In the meantime police sources say that Aruban authorities are waiting for the lab results on traces of blood that were found and a condom that was taken out of the wrapper, but was not used. These two “items”, if after tests are found to be evidence in this case, might determine if Gary Giordano is found guilty of the disappearance or death of Robyn Gardner. The police are very cautious and not giving information on the investigation as to avoid any disturbance. Even so, information is leaking. The main challenge in this case is that no body has been found yet.
Edit to change red color to green.

Something that also attracted attention is that Tuesday afternoon, when Giordano reported Gardner missing and the search for her started, Gary Giordano might have said at the police station in a meeting that he had lost Gardner from the morning, or much earlier. He changed his story immediately when he was asked why he had not reacted then. Correcting himself he said that it had happened that afternoon behind Nanki. There might still be certain details that bring on doubt about Gary Giordano, although he can not be considered guilty of any crime as yet.
