One thought that keeps running through my mind is how someone that planned everything and was so detailed and meticulous would leave running fans on a wet spot the day that his wife disappeared...among other things.  I believe that Susan's sister may be correct and he poisoned her and hid her body.  He then made it appear that he was covering something (like blood) and so when they went to test the stain it came back negative...or when they went and looked in the place that he took the boys "camping" she was no where and so on.  Even this was planned, even the comforter with the pink stain was planned.

Yep! I knew it when I read an article some moons ago. Susan's friend was saying how that Sunday instead of serving the food family style, where everyone fixes their own plates... Josh insisted on serving.

HELLOOOOOOOO!??!?!?!?!? Josh didn't do for anybody else unless he was working an angle on something --- or something in it for himself.

All of a sudden he has a woody to be Manny the Maitre' D?... get the heck out of here.

On the creep scale, that dude was a 15 out of 10. When Josh is doing the cooking --- it's a good time to call for take-out!

The friend reported that Susan went to bed after dinner that night, after becoming sick.  When did Susan talk to her sister about this?

Maybe the spot on the couch or the carpet was Susan's vomitus, which would contain the poison and her DNA.  Not something you want anyone to find when your wife mysteriously disappears.

It is very odd, that Josh would stop to clean up a "spot" after he cooked dinner, served the dinner, took the boys out after dinner, and in between taking the boys camping. A lot to do in such little time.  Why would he take the time with a spot, if it wasn't important to cover up or divert attention.

I wonder too about how much a 2 year old can remember? Could it be Josh was brainwashing his sons? Or is seeing your Mom in the trunk traumatic enough for a 2yo to remember?

The following statement was released from the Susan Cox Powell Foundation on Wednesday:

I would like to thank those in Utah, and Washington State who have stepped forward to volunteer to donate property, materials, time and talents to create a memorial to honor Susan Charlie and Braden Powell, we are thankful for your generosity and enthusiasm.

However, no specific site or artist have been chosen, as was reported yesterday.  In fairness to all those wishing to support a memorial Kiirsi Hellewell, one of Susan’s closest and dearest friends, is forming a committee to study all alternatives including location(s) and art.  We feel it is important to consider all options in order to respectfully honor our loved ones and make the best use of all resources.

While I appreciate art and creativity, I personally would use the resources in a more practical manner.  Why not establish a home for abused women and children so that when faced with a situation like Susan found herself in, they would have a place to run to and someone to counsel them and help them get away from the monster and reconnect with family.

My thoughts only.

Sen. Roach, Powell grandparents question Child Protective Services
February 23, 2012 · 5:22 PM

 ::snipping2::
Cox and his wife emphasized the need for grandparents to be given the same level of credence as a biological parent, pointing out that the boy's father was able to say anything during the custody process without having to back it up with proof.
 ::snipping2::
On Wednesday, Roach filed several bills to address the concerns in the Powell case and will be introducing legislation similar to what she offered in 2010, which gives grandparents standing in dependency proceedings.

Roach's new bills include:

• Senate Bill 6602 – creating child welfare transparency committees within each of the six DSHS regions. The four legislative caucuses, the attorney general and governor would appoint the six members.

• Senate Bill 6603 – preventing a child custody award to someone considered a suspect in an active murder investigation.

• Senate Bill 6604 – establishing what is to be contained in background information for guardians ad litem. The list includes a statement of financial affairs, number of years of experience, level of formal education and founded allegations of child abuse.

• Senate Bill 6605 – requiring Child Protective Services workers to be licensed social workers and bonded.

• Senate Bill 6606 – breaking the Department of Social and Health Services into the Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Public Welfare, and Department of Medical and Rehabilitative Services.

Roach announced at the hearing that Sen. Randi Becker, R-2nd District and Sen. Jim Kastama, D-Puyallup, have been appointed by DSHS to the Child Fatality Review Team. The complete case records will be provided to team members for their review and study.

The department will make the Child Fatality Review report available upon completion to appropriate committees of the Legislature and on the DSHS website.

New Task Force Will Investigate Powell Deaths
Azusa Uchikura
02/23/2012

 ::snipping2::
OLYMPIA, Wash. – It’s been two weeks since Josh Powell allegedly killed himself and his two children in a house fire near Graham, Washington. A new task force announced Thursday will investigate the deaths. Meanwhile, the grandparents of the two Powell boys are pushing for changes in Child Protective Services.

It’s standard practice in Washington that a Fatality Review Team investigates when a child dies because of suspected abuse or neglect. Its members include police officers, attorneys and legislators among others. They’ll review the case and report any problems.
 ::snipping2::
“And we have, all along, voiced many times that we felt something was going to happen," Cox said. "But I knew I had to follow the law because that’s the right thing to do.”

She and her husband Chuck are working with Republican state Senator Pam Roach to introduce changes at Child Protective Services. Meanwhile, a spokesman for the task force expects the report to be done before a six-month deadline.

I think they had to get rid of Susan because :
a.) she came from a normal family
b.) she wasn't going to let her boys be harmed in any way by the Powell cult
c.) she knew the difference between normal and Powell
Once she was gone Steve, Josh and the rest of them had almost unlimited access to the boys. Her parents must have been very strong people to continue to fight for the boys and try to get the boys back.

Both are good ideas. If there was some public art persons walking by might give some thought to their own situations or think about their own families. Or abused women
in general.
I don't think Susan realized what she was up against and how deep it went in Josh. I've read maybe 25 % of the reports recently released and can't read any more of it.

Can I add to your list that she wouldn't give in to Steve and be the family 'wife'.  I really think that is what Steve (if not Josh) had in mind.

Susan Powell memorial may not end up in Magna after all
By Alex Cabrero
February 24, 2012

AGNA — The views are amazing, and it certainly is peaceful, but the Pleasant Green Cemetery in Magna just might not be the place for a Susan Powell memorial.

The announcement of a planned statue of the missing West Valley mother and her two sons was made at a West Valley City Council meeting Tuesday. Now, her family and friends are saying they knew nothing about it.

"It was very kind of them to offer, and we are considering that location among many others," Kiirsi Hellewell, Susan Powell's best friend, said Friday.
Hellewell said she first heard about the memorial earlier this week. She's been involved in almost every aspect of Susan Powell's story.

"(The announcement) was a bit premature," Hellewell said.

She wants everyone to know nothing has officially been decided. It's a decision Susan Powell's parents and a committee want to make together.

"That's one thing we would like to emphasize, is that absolutely nothing has been decided at this point," Hellewell said.

Hiram Bertoch, president of the Pleasant Green Cemetery, said he only donated the land because he wanted a peaceful place for people to reflect.

I'd love to know if there is anything going on behind the scenes with Steve.  Are prosecutors and LE working together to try to get him to tell them where Susan's body is in exchange for a lighter sentence in the child porn crimes?

Crime writer Ann Rule plans to write Susan Cox Powell’s story
Isabelle Zehnder
February 25, 2012

PUYALLUP, Washington (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) -- Crime writer Ann Rule announced last week that she will be publishing a book about Susan Cox Powell, the young West Valley City, Utah mom who went missing in Dec. 2009.
 ::snipping2::
Susan’s father, Chuck Cox, wants to make it clear that he and his wife do not wish to profit from the book. Rule made a contribution to the Susan Cox Powell Foundation, and any other money entitled to the family will be used to advance the foundation’s mission, Chuck said.
 ::snipping2::
Chuck says he is in support of the book because he believes it will bring attention to his daughter’s case. He wants people to know what went wrong during the investigation into Susan’s disappearance as well as shortcomings by Washington child welfare agencies. He believes those shortcomings include emphasis on family reunification over the safety of children.

I have been reading a book recently about the Spanish Inquisition.  Those dudes knew how to make someone talk without shedding a drop of blood or even touching the "family jewels".  Ah to have Steve subjected to just the first step of the process.
