And the autopsy reports just make it worse.  Why take physical vengeance out on the boys?  What had they done?

Sister I feell the same and with all that is coming out now about that monster I just will never understand how or why they weren't protected.

The grandparents did everything possible to keep them safe, why the courts allowed him anywhere near them, I feel is the main reason that  this happened.

This man was sick and evil, from the day Susan disappeared action should have been taken to remove the boys.

The boys would have been able to tell what they knew immediately and the monster would have been locked up.  Instead they lived with him to be tormented with the loss of there mother and not allowed to even mention her name.

Wake up America, time to turn things around.....The children come first, not the so called rights of these horrible monsters that  should have no rights.

Did court order for psycho-sexual evaluation push Powell over the edge?

During Josh Powell's custody hearing last week, a judge took issue with a disturbing picture found during a search of his Utah home two years ago.

It was "a picture, depicting the torso of a woman with a sword from her vagina up to her heart," says Steve Downing, the Cox family attorney.

So instead of allowing him to regain custody of his children, Judge Kathryn Nelson ordered a psycho-sexual evaluation for Powell.

"They are highly intrusive," says Pierce Co. Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. "They go on for several hours. The subject's entire life history is studied. The subject's entire sexual history is studied. The subject undergoes a personality test and all of this is done with a polygraph."
Lindquist says the court-ordered evaluation was a "lose-lose" for Powell.

"Either he refuses to take to take it and he loses custody of his children, or he takes it and reveals information that will cost him custody of his children," says Lindquist.

Jailed father of Josh Powell now a person of interest in Susan Cox Powell’s disappearance; placed on suicide watch

TACOMA, Wash. — Steven Powell, the jailed father of Josh Powell and grandfather of Charles and Braden Powell, has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of Susan Cox Powell.

On Sunday, Steven Powell was placed on suicide watch.

Pierce County deputies said Steven was uncooperative with questions about the explosion and was not overly emotional.

Well, My God! That says it all, doesn't it???? If the only two results were that Josh couldn't pass the evaluation or that he would refuse to take it because he couldn't pass it, then WHY the he** were those children allowed to be in his company??? Add to that, the HUGE and KNOWN probability that he had murdered his wife and mother to those children, then how could the judge have allowed the visits at all, much less in Josh's home??

The way I see it, the picture depicts torture and violence.  What was the judging thinking?  The poor babies never had a chance!  The judge should have ordered a safe "neutral" location with strict supervision.  Unbelievable!

Susan Powell's parents: Kids didn't want to visit Josh that day

Chuck and Judy Cox, the parents of Susan Cox Powell and grandparents of Charlie and Braden Powell, appeared on NBC's Today show Tuesday morning, talking about murder of their grandsons and the disappearance of their daughter. The following are excerpts from their interview.

Will Susan Powell’s Body Be Found After Josh Powell Killed His Sons?

::snipping2::

It may have been Powell’s intent to silence a murder’s only witnesses. As his sons, 5-year-old Braden and 7-year-old Charles, have grown older, they’ve said some revealing things about their mom and dad and the day she disappeared.

Susan Powell’s father, Charlie Cox, told reporters on Monday that he believes his grandchildren could have helped investigators find their mother, even if it took some time.

“I do think they knew something,” Cox said, “and I do think [police] would have eventually have been able to find out what they knew and find my daughter.”

The summer after Susan Powell went missing, the boys were at a day camp, and Braden drew pictures of a minivan with three people inside, Cox said.

“That’s, me, Daddy, and Charlie,” the boy said. “But Mommy’s in the trunk.”

Braden didn’t say why Mommy was in the trunk. He was only 2 at the time

It’s too soon to tell whether Josh Powell succeeded in hiding his sons’ secrets, though. Cox’s attorney and others who spoke with The Daily Beast on Monday said they are hopeful that if anything good could come out of the killings, it’s new information about Susan Powell’s whereabouts.

The deaths may allow investigators to press harder, said Chuck and Judy Cox’s Seattle attorney, Anne Bremner.

“It’s likely we’ll find out more about her disappearance now,” Bremner told The Daily Beast. “Even though police are saying this is an ongoing investigation, there’s a court order requiring confidentiality. If someone is dead who’s the subject of that investigation, they’ll have a harder time keeping that information in.”

Bremner has long suspected the boys had information, she said; they made comments about Mommy being “in the mine” and “if we can find the mine, we can find Mommy.” One of the places policed searched was in the remote central Utah desert, around Topaz Mountain, a popular spot for rock and gem hunters, 30 miles south of where Josh Powell told police he went camping when his wife disappeared.

We, as a society, are not doing enough to protect our children. Period.

I believe that at the point children are removed from a parent, special legal circumstances should kick in. I believe that parent's "rights" to that child/children should not be equal to the well being and safety of the child....... and right now, make no mistake, the rights of a biological parent ARE balanced with the children's well being.

I believe that a parent, who has had their child removed, should not be allowed to even petition a court for a path toward re-gained custody without demonstrable evidence of change. In this case, Josh should have been mandated to prove that the child porn was not his and that he was unaware of it's existence. The judge, basically, was searching for that proof when he ordered Josh undergo the evaluation and polygraph; but he allowed visitation in the meantime. That's the problem.

There is application in any circumstance I can think of, whether it be where children are removed because of parental drug use, or physical abuse, or neglect, etc. Parents should have to come to court prepared with drug free screenings for 6 months, or perfect attendance in parenting/anger management classes, or proof they were wrongly accused, or whatever would demonstrate the change from what caused the child to be removed in the first place. That evidence should have to be present before they can even get a hearing to request visitation. Show me the job and the work record....... show me the home and the means to support.......... show me the drug/alcohol drug screenings and AA attendance. I have seen first hand the way it is right now and I can attest that parents who have had a child removed can walk into court fresh from jail and simply say, "I've changed, judge, and that's my kid and I have a right to see him" and guess what? Visitation is granted.

It's wrong. Maybe children should be appointed an attorney to represent them and be their advocate automatically when they've been removed from their parents. Children are falling through the cracks and sometimes; too often, the fall is a tragic one.

Susan’s Powell sister says Josh was about to be arrested for murder

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday morning,  Denise Cox, the sister of missing woman Susan Cox Powell, said Utah police were about to arrest Josh Powell for murdering Susan.

“I was told from my family that they were working on a case without a body to go after him for murder, and it was within a few weeks the arrest was going to take place, and we were all excited that something was going to happen, and that we might be able to bully Josh or make a deal or something to tell us where Susan is. Unfortunately, that won't happen,” said Cox.

 ::snipping2::

The blaze began about three minutes after the boys went inside.

Tom Poste, fire marshal for Pierce County, said Tuesday he believes the fire was fueled by gasoline. He said samples of an accelerant were taken and turned over to police.

Josh Powell spread the gasoline throughout the house. One empty, destroyed gas can was found inside the front door. The second 5-gallon gas can was found intact. It was protected by Josh’s body when he fell on it, Poste said.

"It had some liquid left in it but it was very close to [empty]," he said.

Poste believes the gasoline was already spread when the boys arrived.

"The time line was way too fast for him to spend any time dousing gasoline," Poste said.

There is a fire station one-quarter mile from the house, but the house was too far ablaze for firefighters to do any good when they arrived, he said.

Neighbors said they heard and felt and violent shaking. Poste said that was likely from the force of the gasoline igniting.

"That would be an indicator of an explosion to me," Poste said. "Where we found some of the roof materials and such indicate it was a violent explosion."

This whole thing is about as bad as it gets. How very, very, very sad. My prayers are for the family members who are grieving, and have been through far too much already.

In many states children are appointment an attorney (Guardian ad litem is sometimes the term used) during custody issues between parents.  I guess Washington isn't one of those.  CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) also are sometimes assigned to children to represent the best interest and when appropriate wishes, of the child.  Those who are able and have an interest in helping to protect children should look into becoming a CASA volunteer.

I don't know if Superman could have protected these kids once maggot man realized that his dirty little secrets were getting ready to be revealed to the world.  He must have become absolutely enraged that he was cornered, especially by a woman judge.  He is a hater and he chose to "show" the judge and the rest of the world how mad he was.  He would get his final revenge on the Cox's for there continuing to cause him trouble and standing up for their daughter.  In the end he got his revenge, at least in his mind, on the world who refused to show him the respect that he deserved.

A report on the Powell children

Meanwhile, Julio Serrano, the guardian ad litem in the case, said he noticed improvement in the two boys since the last time he met with them.

"The children are doing very well in the Cox home," he said. "My recommendation is to remain in that environment."
