West Valley police contacted Minneapolis cops about Susan Powell

The West Valley City Police Department contacted law enforcement in Minnesota —the state where Josh Powell’s brother Michael relocated to in 2010 — to inform police there about the investigation into the disappearance of Susan Powell.

A Minneapolis Police Department spokesman confirmed Wednesday that West Valley City police contacted a Minneapolis homicide lieutenant about the case.

"The police department did contact our police department about an ongoing investigation," said Sgt. Stephen McCarty of the Minneapolis Police Department. "They did talk to (a homicide lieutenant) and had a conversation with him about the case."

 Powell was the only person of interest in the disappearance of his wife[/b].

Co-worker: Steve Powell spoke of Utah camping trip

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A co-worker of Susan Powell's father-in-law says Steve Powell traveled to Utah for a camping trip around the time Susan Powell disappeared.

Attorney Anne Bremner says she has spoken to the co-worker and reviewed the statement the colleague sent to authorities. In her account, the co-worker says Steve Powell talked about leaving around Thanksgiving 2009 for a camping trip in Utah with his son, Josh Powell.

Co-worker: Steve Powell spoke of Utah camping trip

 ::snipping2::
The co-worker thought the camping trip was odd. She saw Powell a week or two later and he reported that the trip was cold but fun.
 ::snipping2::

The co-worker does not want to be named, Bremner said. The AP was able to review her email correspondence and verify that she did work with Steve Powell and is among the Department of Corrections workers copied on work emails with Powell.

Police in West Valley City, Utah, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Steve Powell called in sick from his job on December 8 and 9 of that year. He did appear to remain engaged at work, continuing to send emails to colleagues around that time period, according to documents obtained by AP.

the sick family and perhaps the WVCPD.  Something went extraordinarily wrong there and it has nothing to do with hindsight.

New searches being planned in Susan Cox Powell disappearance

WEST VALLEY CITY — New information that has emerged over the past week in the disappearance of Susan Cox Powell could lead to a new area to search for the missing mother.

Susan’s best friend Kiirsi Hellewell told FOX 13 on Friday that they were looking in areas of Idaho based on cell phone information revealed in a search warrant unsealed by a judge in Washington state last week.

“Now that we have some cell phone information from Josh and we know he was in the Tremonton area on Wednesday (Dec. 9) in the rental car,” she said. “We’re looking at Idaho and seeing what could have happened. Especially because it would be a halfway point between Washington and Utah.”

The new plans for volunteer searches comes as a former co-worker of Steven Powell’s raised suspicions about any possible role he may have had in Susan Cox Powell’s disappearance. The woman’s story was first disclosed in detail by Cox family attorney Anne Bremner on FOX 13 Thursday night.

“Her description of the camping trip sounded very much like the trip that Josh had described,” Bremner said.

Steve Powell Planned Utah Camping Trip Around Time Of Susan Powell's Disappearance, Co-Worker Says

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A co-worker of Steve Powell says the father-in-law of Susan Powell planned to travel to Utah for a camping trip shortly before she disappeared in 2009, an attorney said Thursday.

Lawyer Anne Bremner said she has spoken to the co-worker in recent days and reviewed the statement the colleague sent to authorities. In the woman's account, she says Steve Powell talked about leaving around Thanksgiving 2009 for a camping trip in Utah with his son, Josh Powell.

The co-worker thought the camping trip was odd. She saw Powell a week or two later and he reported that the trip was cold but fun.

Police getting new tips in Susan Powell murder case

 ::snipping2::

And now a Salt Lake woman is telling police she saw Steve and Josh in the Topaz Mountains three-months before Susan went missing in 2009.

It's where police conducted a massive search this summer.  There, they uncovered a shallow grave.   But police won't won't discuss their findings.

The woman who wants to remain anonymous told ABC 4 News: "they weren't out there looking for crystals.  If they were looking for crystals, they left that area."

She says Steven and Josh were not dressed for the outdoors and were in a vehicle that didn't match anything she's seen them drive in news accounts.

"They were not friendly at all," the woman tells ABC 4 News. "It was obvious they had their agenda and everyone else be damned. Their behavior was so out of the ordinary."

Doubt cast on new witness claim in Susan Powell case

The son-in-law of Steve Powell said he’s doubtful of the story brought forward by a new witness who claims Steve Powell was in Utah when his daughter-in-law, Susan Cox Powell, disappeared.

Kirk Graves, the brother-in-law of Susan Powell who lives in West Jordan, said Friday it seems unlikely Steve Powell could have been in Utah on the night of the Dec. 6, 2009, disappearance because Steve Powell was at his Puyallup, Wash., home the next day.

 ::snipping2::

The Washington state Department of Corrections has confirmed that Steve Powell was at work the morning of Dec. 7, 2009.

Obstruction charge may have been possible in Powell case
Josh Powell » In Kiplyn Davis disappearance, an obstruction charge led to a guilty plea.

 ::snipping2::

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill on Friday declined to speculate about what charges could have been pressed against Josh Powell. He has previously said West Valley City police never presented his office a case to be screened for charges. However, an assistant district attorney has been advising West Valley City police since Susan Powell disappeared.

Since Tremonton is the halfway point, Josh could have been meeting up with Steve and/or his brother to give them Susan.

Experts: Utah prosecutors had enough to convict Josh Powell

WASHINGTON —
According to legal experts, Utah prosecutors had enough evidence to convict Josh Powell with his wife’s murder, even though her body was never recovered

Experts: Police likely had enough on Powell

SEATTLE -- Recently released documents show the evidence against Josh Powell was mounting. The blood in the house. The midnight winter camping trip. A generator, gas can, tarps and shovel in his van.

Legal experts say it was enough to convict Powell of his wife's murder -- even if prosecutors didn't have her body as evidence. After all, it's happened hundreds of times before.

So called "no-body" convictions have occurred all over the country, including in Utah. And scholars, defense lawyers and other prosecutors who have followed the case believe Utah authorities likely could have convicted Powell had they pressed forward with the case.

But Powell was never arrested or charged in his wife's December 2009 disappearance from their home in West Valley City.

Lohra Miller was the Salt Lake County district attorney for the first year of the Susan Powell investigation. She did not return messages from The Associated Press, but said that her office had not been ready to bring charges because there was no body.

Well Lohra you now have 3 bodies, 2 of which were innocent children, one who is a murderer of his children and more than likely his wife.  Wonder if Lohra Miller is from Arooba with their no body, no crime mentality?
