This really is no news Sad, but it's all there is.

http://www.kctv5.com/news/24817059/detail.html

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. -- Law enforcement officials began what they called their final phase of their search for a possible dead body on a 10-acre property near 164th Street and Mission Road in rural Johnson County.

Searchers drained two man-made ponds on the former site of Kuhlman Die Casting. The site has an empty warehouse along with the two ponds. Kuhlman previously owned the land but officials said it has sat vacant for some time.

Johnson County deputies used hand tools to comb through the dense sludge on Monday afternoon. The workers used rakes, shovels and other hand tools to try to find what was on the bottom of the pond.

The site sits only a few miles from the home of Kara Kopetsky, the Belton High School student who has been missing since May 2007. Police, however, have not said whom they are looking for.

Construction crews paved a way for sheriff's deputies to get into the property behind the wooded area when the search began over the weekend. Johnson County Sheriff's Department officials only said they are looking for a body. Crews brought in a fire truck and a water rescue boat to assist in their search over the weekend.

'Investigation Discovery' channel looks into Kara Kopetsky disappearance
The disappearance of Kara Kopetsky has attracted a lot of interest locally, and it looks like her case is getting some national attention, too. Investigation Discovery, a cable channel that focuses on true crime, has a short video about Kara, and it appears she'll be featured on one of their programs, "Disappeared," in the coming months. I've got a call out to find when.

The video talks about the first few hours after Kara went missing and includes interviews with her parents. Here's a website dedicated to her case. It mentions the very large reward being offered for information in her case.

Snipped from http://www.findkarakopetsky.com/

One of those friends, Kylr Yust, 18, was Kara's on-again-off-again boyfriend for much of the school year. Anyone who's read Kara's MySpace page knows about the tempestuous Kara-Kylr hookup. Police say that a few days before she disappeared, Kylr and Kara had a dustup that resulted in an order of protection requiring Kylr to stay away from her. On April 24, Kara wrote: "So life hasn't been the greatest for me lately, over the last 9 months of my life iv dedicated my life to kylr … I made no other time for any of my friends nor my family. over those 9 months i forgot the person that I was. im trying to find that person again."

Kylr said Kara was a "flying by the seat of your pants" girl. "She just wanted to have fun and do everything and experience everything in life," he said. "She didn't think too forward. She was always in the moment. She didn't think about 'what am I gong to do when I grow up.'" He keeps pictures of her on his cell phone. He said she talked of running away to Mexico the next time she was punished at home. "Lately I've been kind of depressed about the whole thing," he says. "I have no idea where she is."
~~~~~~~~~
Mexico?...I don't think so  There is their suspect...go get him. I'd bet my last Oreo cookie he is guilty.
Just stumbled  upon this, not sure why he was arrested in the first place haven't had time to look.  Scroll down to the second entry.
Found this on case net;
I didn't screen cap but one page, it looks like he was arrested for stealing, judge set $10,000 cash only bond (eventually reduced to 10%) he has a court date set for this Thursday, November 18, 2010 - looks like his lawyer has requested a continuance - that is still pending.
At midnight 12/28 Investigation Discovery network is going to air a new episode (this is a re-airing from earlier in the evening 12/27) of Disappeared and it is about Kara.  It will probably rerun a couple of times during the week.
Thank you, youknomenot.  It's good to see Kara's case getting some much needed publicity.  Getting the case out there in the public eye may help turn up some information, which could hopefully lead to solving this case.
Hi Muffy, yes it is getting some attention however I have more questions now than I had before the show.  For me, this is another case that is just off somehow.  The show included the video of her leaving school and the explanation that it was her custom to skip a couple classes every morning then go back to school.  It was said on the show, that she asked the kids she spoke with on the way out if they wanted to go with her.  Doesn't sound like she planned to anything but her normal skipping routine.  It also explains why she didn't take her ATM card or other personal belongings from home.
They showed a local interview with the ex-boyfriend and he was cleared by lie detector and explained the restraining order..it was never officially issued because she disappeared before the actual court appearance.  I just didn't get the impression he had anything to do with her disappearance.
The sightings in Louisburg, KS turned out to be a local girl who closely resembles Kara and the sketch was a friend of her's.
Here is where it starts getting strange for me.  Before her family notified police, a girl from school filed a missing persons report with the police dept.  Either I didn't catch it, or they didn't say, but there was no name.  The reason the girl gave was because Kara hadn't been seen at school for a couple of days and something about being scared/wary? of goings on at Kara's home (I will have to rewatch that part and get the exact wording).  Apparently nothing came of this girl's report, but it sent red flags up for me.  Somebody is lying...is it the school cameras or this girl or the parents or the police?  We see Kara at school but the girl says she wasn't there.  Seems this girl would be extremely important.
The family is another odd area.  Almost as if they are trying to hide something.  They just haven't been out there, we don't know anything about Kara.  It isn't as though they don't have the resources, they were in contact with Kelsey Smith's family who now has a foundation to help with this sort of thing.  Also Shawn Hornbeck's family.  Local authorities.  We don't know much at all about Kara.  The show intimated that she'd been hanging with the wrong crowd, but had recently begun to mature and move away from them...that's and the skipping classes thing is all we really know about who Kara is.
BELTON, Missouri - A day before her 21st birthday, the search for missing Belton girl Kara Kopetsky resumed with a reinforced intensity Wednesday.
About 40 officers from the Belton Police Department, along with Kansas City police and the FBI, are performing another targeted search in the hunt for clues in Kara’s disappearance, her mother told NBC Action News.
Article goes on to say this is because of new developments they've known about for a few days and the family wasn't notified until last night.
http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-police-search-south-kc-for-kara-kopetsky-021611,0,1550057.story
BELTON, MO — Police are searching an area at 90th and Elm St. in south Kansas City for missing teen Kara Kopetsky. Sgt. Brad Swanson with the Belton Police Department said 30 to 40 officers are involved in the search, at the scene and elsewhere. The FBI is also assisting.
Kopetsky has been missing since May 4, 2007. She was last seen on surveillance video leaving Belton High School early. Her parents, Rhonda and Jim Beckford, haven't heard from her since.
Sgt. Swanson said they received information a couple weeks ago that prompted Wednesday's search.
Authorities end search in Kopetsky case, for now
Authorities have called off a search today in south Kansas City in connection with the disappearance of Kara Kopetsky, but they’re not ruling out a return to the wooded area later.
Today’s search was hindered in part by snow on the ground, said Belton police Sgt. Brad Swanson.
About 40 law enforcement officers from Belton police, the FBI and other agencies spent several hours searching an area between East 89th and 90th streets east of Elm Avenue.
Police End South KC Search In Kopetsky Case
 ::snipping2::
But Belton Police Sgt. Brad Swanson said that police received a tip to search the area in the 8900 block of Elm Avenue for a body. He said the search area is a low-lying flood plain that's separated from some homes by about 50 to 60 yards of trees.
"In the last couple of weeks, we've developed information to that investigation that led us to believe there might be something to find here," he said.
Shortly after noon, investigators concluded the search and left the area. He didn't say what, if anything, was found.
"We conducted that search, and at this point, we're ready to leave," Swanson said.
