Morning Monkeys... gotta get in the shower, zip my suitcase and try not to have a nervous breakdown because I HATE to fly.

I will miss you all but will check in on the phone. YAY!!! Golf this week with CC. I'm gonna beat him at least one round, or at least that is my hope  Monkey Devil!  Monkey Devil!

  Love hugs and prayers. JSM

Miss ya trimm, keeping you in my prayers that the neighbors leave you alone
They are at their real home today. So happy for that.
I am going to have lunch with my parents tomorrow...dad told me to bring the truck because he had some stuff to give me.....his shop is full of all kinds of good stuff. Then he said he had 356 stair spindles to get rid of.WTF? One of his friends had a bunch left over from some job.I said "Sure Dad."
I know some people who can actually use some, but not that many.
Guess I will keep a few for table legs and maybe a head knocker.   Monkey Devil! There better get something good over in the corner for taking these off of his hands. My mom is having a chit fit.

I've seen some really nice looking candle holders made from stair spindles.  They can be cut to different sizes, painted etc.  You could put a small square of wood for a base or whatever... This article is using an old table leg, but I think stair spindles might work in a similiar fashion.

Or some more ideas is to use them to make shelves and other items.  One poster even commented "One can never have too many spindles".  Here's the link:

what to do with wooden spindles

Thanks for these links Muffy!I was about to look for something like the candle holders.
We have used them with shelving and all kinds of stuff.Hubby finds a use for everything.

You're welcome!  My hubby finds a use for everything too.  It's hard for him to get rid of almost anything.  The only problem is his follow through. We took out a jetted tub a while back and my hubby decided to save the pump.  It's out in storage now.  But we gotta hold onto it because it might be useful.  We had  some 12"  ceramic tiles left over from tiling the guest bath and he used those to make a table for the patio.  It lacks grouting at this point, but at least that was started after we took out the jetted tub.

Judge lets key parts of Ala. immigration law stand

(AP)  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A federal judge refused Wednesday to block key parts of a closely watched Alabama law that is considered the strictest state effort to clamp down on illegal immigration, including a measure that requires immigration status checks of public school students.

U.S. District Judge Sharon Blackburn, appointed by Republican President George H.W. Bush, wrote in her 115-page opinion that some parts of the law are in conflict with federal statutes, but others aren't.

She said federal law doesn't prohibit checking students or suspects pulled over by police. She also refused to stop provisions that allow police to hold suspected illegal immigrants without bond; bar state courts from enforcing contracts involving illegal immigrants; make it a felony for an illegal immigrant to do business with the state; and make it a misdemeanor for an illegal resident not to have immigration papers.

Bearly, hope you recover soon from you girls' weekend.  Don't blame you for not missing it, nothing like being with folks that know your history.

I read that you have been seeing this fella.  Wasn't sure that you'd got past the on-line stage.

Well, I hope HE is very special coz we all know YOU are!  enough said.

What does cubby think of him?

My friends daughter raised her son solo and never brought a man into the household.  Her son is 16 now and she is seeing someone.  When she told her son, he said "Good Mom, what took you so long?"

Blessings.
can

We cannot meet until December, he is out of the country on business.  I know this to be true.  I have his address there.  We text and IM every day.  He sends me pictures of the job site, too, with him in it.

I confuse easy bearly.  So you haven't met this guy in the flesh yet, but may do so in December?  . . . if you don't talk yourself out of it.

Yes, ma'am.  As much as I joke around here, just hearing the words meeting someone in the flesh has me running for cover.

No running for cover Bearly, you are a special person and this just be the man for you. I know how you feel meeting them in the flesh. Just ask CC, he drove by me three times at Midway before he finally stopped and got me  Monkey Devil!

You will be fine, praying for you sweetie.

Why did he do that?  He probably could not believe that beauty was really you.  What is Midway?

Morning Monkeys!

Sorry if I missed anyone.  Sometimes it's hard to catch up.

JSM - glad the steroids are helping with the pain and numbness.  How much longer do you have to take the meds?
I am glad to hear you have completed the rituals for Josef and I hope in so doing you found some comfort. You were an amazing doggie Mom.  The best!
Happy to hear you will soon be with your beloved CC in Chicago.

SISTER - Prayers for you continue.  Also for your Mom and Connie.

GE - have your daughter and grands moved into their new place yet?  What are you planning when your household is back to two - besides lots of rest?
It's great that you and dh were able to be there when the family needed you.  Blessings on you.

Can thank you. I am still having hard times, but today I had a MRI and started thinking of Josef, knew if I cried I would have motion artifact and they would have to do it again.  I am claustrophobic so I started praying the rosary, using my fingers instead of beads  It worked, kept my mind from wandering to thoughts of Josef. I am so ready to go to Chicago and see CC, wish I was there right now. Even if it is cold

I want to go to Chicago and see CC, too.  As a matter of fact, I think we should all go and have a group hug.  There has been so much going on with everyone, I think we all need it.

I wish you could come to Bearly, we all need a group hug. (((((HUGS))))) to you. Love ya Bearly!

Hi Babybear.

We had a Rascal too.  So named by our daughter who got her from the pound when she was in university far away from home.  The pound had no history on her. Rascal was anxious, had separation anxiety etc. and our daughter was anything but the alfa and Rascal began to turn on her and others.  Our daughter was heartbroken so we took her in.  She left us in February - but in the seven years or so that she was here, she calmed down quite a bit, had a structured, predictable life and a garden which she patrolled and lots of squirrels to chase.
Frightened seems a good word to describe Rascal, even though she was not timid.

Hi Can--Rascal came to live with us before my husband died and they bonded immediately.  My husband always called every dog Rascal, like, "Come here you little rascal," so he decided to name him that.  He was an outside dog at the beginning, but little by little my husband let him come in for special occasions--then it got to the point that Rascal came in every night to watch Rush Limbaugh sitting in the recliner with my husband.  He always barked at Rush Limbaugh.  I never knew if that was approval or disapproval.  I never found out if Rascal was a Democrat or a Republican.  Shortly afterward, Rascal inched his way into the house permanently.  He was especially afraid of loud noises and fireworks.  I think he had been hurt that way.  On the 4th of July he would hear fireworks and tremble and cry and hide under the bed.  Once I actually got under the bed with him to comfort him.

Rascal was afraid of everything, especially men.  I assume it was a man who had hurt him.  But one day when there was a painter here and he was walking toward me with a can of paint in one hand, Rascal ran up and bit him behind the knee.  That sweet dog, who was afraid of his shadow, tried to protect me.  The painter understood.

After my husband died, Rascal would sit looking down the road waiting for him to come home.  It was very touching.  I never knew how old Rascal was, but he lived several years after that and sat in the reclining chair all by himself.

Hi Babybear.  You have such a wonderful way with words and I love to read ALL of your posts.
Thank you for your lovely story of your Rascal.  Your love of animals shines through.

The pound should not have given Rascal to our daughter.  Nor should our daughter have insisted on having such a high strung Springer Spaniel (in an apt.)  The pound refused her to a family with children, and to our daughter.  Our daughter persisted, visited the pound every day to see Rascal and asked again and again to have her.  I think she wore them down.
Our Rascal was afraid of men too I guess, because she growled at a lot of them including my husband who like his daughter couldn't be more of an animal lover.  She slept in a doggie bed with pillows in our bedroom, but every morning we found her lying on the floor with her head under the bed beside my husband.      go figure.

Can, that is so sad that they gave Rascal to her even though they knew better. Thankfully you and your husband got Rascal and she loved sleeping under your husband's bed. That is so sweet.  an angelic monkey

We just moved her dog house away from it's place yesterday.  Felt like saying good bye all over again.

I am so sorry, Can.

Provincial election coming up and I'm off to vote in the advance polls.

Spent the day with my Mom yesterday.  She wanted a new winter coat.  She chose red!
It looks great on her and adds some color to her face.

hubs is partridge hunting and I hope to utilise my time organising and cleaning.  Might have a house guest next month and feel pressured - and I might go on a little holiday trip in a few days....IF i can get it together.

have a great day Monkeys!

Sounds great, a holiday is always fun.

Sorry about the pressure, Ikwym.

Red--what a great color for such a young lady, or should I say colour.

While your husband is hunting, maybe he could hunt down a nice guy for me.  lol

Yes, I look forward to my trip.  Just going for a short time as I will be someone's house guest. Having had so many in the past, I know how much work it can be.

color colour -bearly you're always on it!

Wish he could hunt down a nice guy for you.  Will a partridge do...it won't talk back.

What's with the guy you're emailing with?  aren't you sure if he's a nice guy?   I am so curious!

But mostly, I WANT THE BEST FOR THE BEST!   an angelic monkey

Thanks.

We text a lot.  I don't think you can be really sure until you spend time with someone.

I agree, spending time, body language, actions and reactions, etc are important.

The significant point about all this to me bearly, is that you are becoming ready to look at having a special person in your life.  I understand that must be scary after so many years of independance.  It entails a new responsibility.
Whether it is the fellow you are texting with, or another as yet unknown, you are opening your thoughts and that's the first step.  I pray someone as special as you are will come along and add additional love and happiness to your life.

All imo.   an angelic monkey

Thanks, Can!  I think you are really special, too.
