Always LOVE the advice that Green Eyes has to give us and love to read Cookie's thoughts on this thread and other threads also.

I know I have forgotten the other monkalicious friends on this thread - but I love coming here and seeing what is going on in each of your circus lives!!

Do you have to purchase the items or do you go get donations?

One of my hub's salesmen's wives gave us a basket with an Italian theme recently.  She made it herself - put in pasta, sauce, breadsticks, dipping oil, bottle wine, seasonings of various kinds.

Or at the elementary school, we used to do baskets for raffles.  You could pick an age of a child and put in age appropriate items - markers, coloring books, games, puzzles, readers, yo yos, things like that?


Not really sure who will be buying the raffle tickets, but maybe that gets the juices flowing for ideas?

Do you mean you have to cook or you just have to gather a goody basket?

I'm a Betty Crocker type of cook, so I'm no help there.

But, if you're doing a goody bag here are so ideas....

*holidays are coming up so purchase some holiday themed paper plates, napkins, etc
*everyone loves pictures at holidays, purchase a disposable camera, a photo album, and a gift card for developing film
*Do a honeymoon bag....an old (cheap at discount stores) movie, a microwave bag of popcorn, some type of chocolate, and a bottle of sparkling grape juice.
A spa bag...a scented candle, a book or magazine, bath salts, a cd of relaxation music.

These are just a few ideas.  Hope it helps!

This is a random posting and I should post it with respect to Amanda Knox but I'd rather post it here...

My son and I drove home from Vegas last week to Alabama...in the car...we had all intentions of stopping and spending the night but his biological clock was still on California time (remember he went to San Diego?)...so he didn't get tired until about 5 or 6 in the morning.  Well, together we made a decision to just drive on through without stopping until we reached home.  I must say that was not good parenting, but I agreed with him.  With that being said, we drove for 28 hours straight, he  drove the whole time and I asked ridiculous questions for 28 hours to make sure he was still alert.  Well, at some point, still driving, we were like zombies.  We laughed that our conversations made no sense and it was like a surreal experience being "awake" for so long.

My mind (what was left of it) went back to remembering that Ms. Knox claimed she was interrogated for over 50 hours, without sleep or food, etc.  Well, folks, I am here to tell you if someone questioned me for 50 hours there is NO telling what would have come out of my mouth.  It felt like we were disoriented.  I can't imagine being accused of a crime under that physical and emotional duress.

Anyway, whether she is guilty of something or totally innocent, I wanted to share the "exhausting" experience of having been awake for so long.  Hubs called us "stupid".  He was probably right too.


And while we were gone, my son in law kept Chubbie and the Criminal.  Criminal lived up to her reputation and bit SIL.  He is OK but it was a bad bite.  I dread the day when I have to make a decision about her.  We left town again this weekend and boarded her. We decided no one outside the family should watch her at our house anymore (in house dog sitters).  She is a rescue and we love her - we just gotta watch her.

Lastly, they weighed the mutts at the kennel and Chubbie has gained weight   Back to the diet!!!

why do actors/actresses and other newsy people feel the need to proclaim that they are gay? who cares?  what is the big need to let the whole world know? I could go the rest of my life never knowing or caring that so and so is gay...just wondering what the rest of you think on this...

why do actors/actresses and other newsy people feel the need to proclaim that they are gay? who cares?  what is the big need to let the whole world know? I could go the rest of my life never knowing or caring that so and so is gay...just wondering what the rest of you think on this...

No offense Caddy, I agree with hubs. You shouldn't have driven all that way without sleep.

On Amanda Knox, I don't know what to think guilty or innocent, but you are right sleep deprevation can make you say anything.

Oh that Criminal  glad the bite wasn't bad. Poor Chubs, having to go on a diet.

I totally agree Cookie, I don't care to hear them tell me their sexual preference, but I really don't care much about actors/actresses as I don't watch much TV that requires them. I watch real life shows like Cops and Hoarders
