JSM

I wanted to do something special to remember Joe. They have a group here that have been asking for hay donations for horses in Texas. They will be delivering it at the end of the month. I donated 10 bales in Joe's name because it goes to Texas animals in need. Wish I could do more.

God bless you 4 Donks

It will take time. Remember, you did the best you could, in fact more than most people would. Jo was a huge part of your life, it will take time to fill that void. You are the BEST DOG MOMMY EVA!

After Murdoch died (have I told you guys that story yet?) I cried for two days. So did our sons and Dad. I had to ask our youngest son, who still lived at home, if we could get a new dog as Bandit would be lonely. Eventually, my 6ft tall son, his 5 ft girlfriend and all 5'2 of me were lying on his bed, crying and hugging. We decided not to tell our oldest (whose dog Murdoch was) until he got home for a break from college. He was very upset also.

What helped us most was telling funny stories about Murdoch. But still, we were on Mur's schedule. Without thinking, we'd fill his food dish along with Bandit's. Of course, Bandit loved that (that dog would eat ANYTHING!).

But really, the best cure is keeping busy and time. And laughter. AND PUNCHING THE LIVING CARP OUTTA CASEY!!

Teyve, I remember the story of Murdoch and not telling your son until he got back from college. I don't know if I was the best dog mama, but I hope I was. I am still on Josef's schedule, waking up at 3 this morning looking to make sure he was still on the bed, shut the bedroom door last night so he wouldn't jump off the bed, I see his things, his bag of food, his Christmas stocking is still hanging up because every day was Christmas for Joe. I will try to keep busy, would go to the rink, but stupid hockey takes over the rinks in the fall. So I guess punching Casey is all I can do to let my mind ease          I may go to Hooters with my friend, don't know what kind of company I will be but it will get me out of the house after Mass. Plus I can drink beer and try and eat wings. Haven't eaten anything but a bite or two of salad at lunch yesterday

That's good, you have a plan. I often have to make "a plan" when trouble strikes, I think it's how I control an uncontrollable situation.

Most importantly, don't let others tell you how to grieve. It's your grief, you do it your way. Hooters sounds fun! A few beers, a few laughs...I was going to suggest some power skating, but don't want to tell you how to grieve. Just know we're all here for you...

Well, except for this afternoon. Seems my fabulous daughters-in-law have decided I need to unload a few things, so they've planned a garage sale. I told them fine, but the profits would be a 3 way split. I told them we could either sell it now, all together, or they'd have to get rid of it after my death! They've been awesome about helping me go thru things. So, this afternoon, it's the furnace room, AKA the room where everything I don't know what to do with goes. It ain't gonna be pretty!

Just thinking of you JSM - I know how hard it is to lose a pet.  You do what you need to do...eat wings (it would be french fries for me - I love those things)...drink beer (like that too!)...go skating...take a walk by yourself...punch the bed...yell at your neighbors if you wish...go shopping (always helpful)...cry like a baby...yup...you just do what you need to do.

I am so sorry.

JSM, today I used your story of Josef's life and death as the children's message.  We laughed and cried and thanked God for the resurrection extending to our pets and all animals who are part of His creation.
To let go takes more strength than to hang-on.  To let go is selfless love . . . the best kind.
You are in my prayers . . .

That day in the sand
We walked hand in hand.
Through good and through bad
And at times when you're sad.
I just want to let you know
You were the best mama for Joe
So let's walk together a bit farther
Knowing he's with our heavenly father.

It has been so sad here I thought I would give you all a cheer up - the baby lost his first tooth so here is the video he sent to his brother in college . . .

Thank you Caddy for thinking of me. I am going to eat wings and have lots of beer, Josef knew how much I liked beer and he liked to find chicken bones so I am going to eat some for him. Been crying like a baby, especially when I found his leash in the car. I lost it then but there were no neighbors to yell at so I just cried.
