TBM - So sorry to hear about your kitty.  That is so hard to explain to a child.  We had to put our cat down many years ago when the kids were very small.  I didn't try to explain, I just said she got sick and passed on to heaven.  I had originally told the vet to just keep her and dispose of her as I didn't wish to put the kids through a burial.  Well, of course, they didn't understand why we were not burying her, and what was the vet going to do with her?  I decided that it would be best to bury her, meaning that would be easier to explain than what he was going to do with her.  I called hubs at work and told him he had to stop on his way home from work and pick up the deceased cat.  Our vet was real sweet - he had her nicely contained for us.  Oh well, they couldn't just let Dad bury her...they had to draw and color all over her "coffin" (cardboard box) and then Daddy got to bury her.  He was in a hurry - had a ball game or something non-important - and I told him he had to bury the cat with the children.  He was really impatient as the team waited for him...

While they went down in the woods to select a proper place that all 3 kids could agree on, a summer lightning storm came up.  There he stood with 3 small tykes, everyone crying, and he has a shovel in a lightning storm - wondering if he is going to get electrocuted!!

The kids are grown now (or so they think), they know the real reason she passed on, and we can chuckle at the funeral of DooDoo.  Yes, her name was DooDoo because she had an issue...

I know you are not in a silly mood, that you are grieving, but think of all the sweet memories of your precious pet...  Cad and Chubs
for the loss of Doo Doo... Sorry Caddy, but when I read this I was about to cry, then I got to the name of the cat and I broke out in a giggle fit.
The name we originally gave her was Zuki.  then it got to be Zuki Duki.  Then we just called her DooDoo. Monkey Devil!
Maybe I need to rename Josef  Monkey Devil!

What a great story. Our vet is wonderful and is going to cremate her for us. So I can bring the container home. I told the little one that she was ill and the doctor could not fix her so she died. He seems good with it but I am sure I will get questions. Thanks for the happy memory.
an angelic monkey That is a wonderful you have a great vet and I am sure you will get questions. Prayers for you all and especially the little one in this time of mourning.

Happy news....you can get optimmune again. I had to substitute  a med that cost $ 140.00 a month that stung her eyes and didn't work very well. Now she will be bright eyed and no stinging. Fancy is doing her "Happy Dance"...(me too)

Sending out prayers for Sister's Mom.   an angelic monkey Please let us know how she's doing.  It's good you are accompanying her to the doctor's and that she's going today.

Such crazy weather these days!  I'm sorry you've had so much rain GypsyDD.  I hope you and your family & friends stay safe.  We are in an extreme drought right now in Texas, and there's no rain in sight.  The fires have been awful

Muffy ..I have seen that on TV ..the extreme drought and fires in Texas..I wish I couold send some of this rain to you all..then you would not have this drought and the wild fires would not have started or gone on for long.  It is one of those things that Mother Nature still controls..try as men do..we have never been able to rearrange the weather.

I am thinking with all the current havic that Mother Nature is trying to tell us something....maybe just that she is still in charge and large.

Power Outage Hits Southern California
September 8, 2011

LOS ANGELES—A massive power outage cut electricity to a large swath of Southern California, and parts of Arizona and Mexico, after a high-voltage transmission line "tripped out of service," according to California's grid operator.

The power loss was centered in San Diego County and Southern Orange County, but it extended to Arizona and the Mexican state of Baja California, the California Independent System Operator said. The high-voltage transmission line that tripped transports electricity from power plants in Arizona to customers in Southern California.

At a televised news conference Thursday, an official with San Diego Gas & Electric said residents in the affected areas could expect to be without power through the rest of the night and into Friday.

Ah..where I am is under seige from the rains and wind.  Flooding everywhere with roads closed.  My family and grandchildren are here, they were either able to come home or school was canceled..but some schools closed earlier today..and by closed I mean during school they said they were closing but all children needed to remain in school..no bus service..the flooding is that bad.  I am praying for those little children having to spend the night at school..safe and sound with their friends and teachers..but I am sure afraid since this is not the norm...even in bad snow storms the children either don't go to school or get released early. Today the flooding was so bad they had to remain at school.

I am praying for all families that can not be togather tonight ..peace be with them.

where are you located at Gypsy? those little kids must be confused that they can't come home..imagine how the parents must feel that they can't get to their children...

BabKats..so glad that Callie made her journey home!

TBM...hope your day tomorrow will be better...xxxx

Hi everyone else!

I am located in south central PA.  The schools that had to close yesterday afternoon were in the Hershey/ Harrisburg area.  It was a first that they had to remain in there overnight. Parents could try to come get them, but they advised against it last night.. they were not running the school buses and the high school students who drove were not allowed to drive from the school property.  That was a precaution.  I think it was best they erred on the safe side of things when it comes to the safety of the children.  Many schools and armorys are being used as evacuation centers.

Right now they are evacuating areas of Harrisburg along the river..been watching it on TV..they are stopping all transit service between 5 and 6 pm tonight.  They are asking downtown businesses..bars and restaurants to close by 5 pm..the last thing they need is a bunch of drunks trying to swim in the Susquehanna river during this flood.

The flooding is really bad in Hershey, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebebnon, anywhere in the general area area with creeks and rivers....and our creeks are usually more like a river then what one thinks of as creeks.  Some bison at Hershey XZoo died due to drowning.

Parts of York and Adams county are flooded..all schools and most government offices are closed.  Rivers and creeks are cresting at as much as 21 feet above flood stage...and they think they will continue to rise until Saturday evening in my area.  I am safe and sound on high ground...not any closer then 3 miles to a creek..which by the way has flooded out that area, roads and the bridges crossing it have dissappeared below the water.  Glad I live on high ground..and knock on wood no roof leaks or basement leaks yet.

I am really tired of this rain.
Wow Gypsy that is horrible!! Thankfully you live on high ground, prayers for those in the path of the floods. I hope it stops raining soon.

Ah..thnak you all for your concern.  We are fine..I do feel for people that are being flooded out ..even if they have reached safety..I can't imagine going back to a home that held all your years of family momentos..rather it is flood or fire or other happenstance of Mother Nature..losing family treasures must be really hard..

I still think that we are in the midst of something bigger that only God controls..well he always was in control.

Maybe the Mayan's had it right with their 2012 predictions..they never said it was the end of the world just that the calendar ended there....meaning a new beginning a new cycle of the same calendar.  I learned that when I visted the Mayan ruins years ago..the true Mayan belief was not the end of the world.the end of a cycle..and it appears to me we are nearing the end of a cycle of sorts..but then change for the better is always on the horizon..so this maybe more of the same.

I really hope that 9/11 passes uneventfully...I think that right now anything similiar would devastate our country..we are able to bounce back..but we have enough troubles now..a repeat of 9/11 would not be good.

We have fire, we have rain and now we have electric outages
