Well, I guess next Monday night I don't have to worry about having that sinking feeling when I realize I forgot about DWTS being on.

I've loved being here with all of you, it's been a blast!
It's been so fun ~ we'll have to periodically check in here and compare notes on the talk about who will be on in March.

Gosh I'm so excited . . . now I'm ready for the Spring season !!!!

If Bruce Jenner is on I'm really not watching

OMG, me either!

Oh, Lord.  What a nauseating thought.
AND, I could just see it being a 2 for 1 with Kris Jenner on there, too.   double vomit.

Oh god she would try and do that.  I hope ABC is smarter than that.

My sweet monkey friends ~ I've just had such a great time with all of y'all ~ have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

I'll see y'all around the forum, but the stuff I read in the other areas sure isn't as light-hearted as this thread!

Nightnight and hugs to all

Believe and Achieve.  That's what Karina just said on the news.  I like that.

Me too Sis!  It was fun, but stressful at times too...but not the kind of stress as some of the other threads so it was still fun.

Hope that made sense!

Yes, it makes perfect sense.  It was good when I found out first who was eliminated before I saw the show.

With so many nice comments here, I really hate to say this.

But, watching Hope, Ron Artest, Chaz, and Elisabetta, dance tonight reminded me of why they were eliminated in the first place. Carson missed a few steps, but he was all over the place and I don't thing many people noticed.

One final "hidden gem", maybe someone who taped the show can see this... when Ricky Lake was eliminated and the other dancers approached her on the dance floor, and hugged her, she skipped JR... Ricky turned around and hugged Karina instead. JR made a face gesture that looked like disgust, then he moved on to hug someone.

I don't think I imagined this, but that is what I saw. Maybe someone with a recording can see this and comment.

Anyway, it was a controversial, weird, but fun and heart-touching season. I really loved the show, and can't wait for the next season.

p.s.

I only watch DWTS and Fringe.

With DWTS gone until March, and Fringe gone until January, I have NOTHING to watch on TV.

PBS shows and reruns of Monk it is.

Tonight I watched a story about a man who lived as a turkey... on PBS. It was good.

J.R. Martinez Takes Top Prize In Dancing with the Stars
November 23, 2011

Starting the season as the least known member of the "Dancing With the Stars" cast, J.R. Martinez endeared himself to America as the show progressed and on Tuesday night the 28-year-old soldier-turned-soap opera star took home the top prize.
 ::snipping2::
Earlier this month, Martinez was chosen as grand marshal of the 123rd annual Tournament of Roses parade. He was on the cover of People magazine and named one of its "sexiest men" a few weeks later. And on Tuesday, he became the new "Dancing With the Stars" champion.

Martinez and professional partner Karina Smirnoff claimed the mirrorball trophy over fellow finalists Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake.

"We've been able to create a lot of magical moments on the show and to top it off with this is amazing," Martinez said, holding the glittery trophy.

"And my friend, she deserves it," he continued, looking at Smirnoff. "She's an amazing dancer and she should be in that category with the elite when it comes to this show and hold her own trophy up. The fact that I was able to be part of that journey, I'm excited about that."

The dance partners (and neighbors — Smirnoff and Martinez live near one another) already know where they'll put the mirrorballs.

Smirnoff wants to keep hers at her dance studio in "a space with a spotlight and I'm going to polish it every morning," she said.

Martinez will be keeping his trophy even closer.

"Right now I'm going to put mine in bed. I'm going to tuck it in, and it's going to roll around with me," he beamed. "And then after that, once we've kind of grown apart, I'm going to glue it to the hood of my car and drive around Los Angeles and honk my horn and it will be my own parade."
Kardashian, who came into the season finale in first place with professional partner Cheryl Burke, said he didn't mind finishing as a runner-up.

"I feel great. I literally did everything I could have asked myself to do and more," the reality star said after the show. Still, he said Martinez "deserves that trophy more than anyone."

It appears fans had the final say. Viewer votes combined with judges' scores determine the winner, and Kardashian and Martinez were just a point apart when all the dancing was done. As the third-place finisher, Lake was eliminated part way through the final episode.

"J.R. and Karina really deserved to win," she said after the show. "And Rob and Cheryl, I'm so impressed with them both, so it's great to be among the three best."

After a quick trip to New York with his fellow finalists to make an appearance on "Good Morning America," and maybe some dance-free downtime over Thanksgiving, the former soldier and current "Dancing With the Stars" champ has a full roster of activities planned.

"I want to focus on writing a book. I want to tell people more in-depth the story of who J.R. Martinez is and what I've been through," he said. "And at the same time, I want to continue acting, continue doing motivational speaking and, from time to time, call Karina and say, 'Let's go dance.'"

I so admired the way the way the last three cheered for each other and spurred each other along.  More than once I heard Rob tell J.R. he loved him.  What a wonderful championship.

Although I haven't been a faithful watcher like the rest of the monkeys here, I caught the fever and watched for the last few weeks.  Great evening of dancing!

Dancing with the Stars, Season 13: And the Winner Is…
November 23, 2011

We have a champion! Dancing with the Stars picked a new winner last night. After weeks of winnowing the herd, only three “stars” remained. But much like Highlander, there can be only one.

While the trio of finalists — Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian, and J.R. Martinez — danced their hearts out, the real question on everyone’s mind last night was: How could they possibly fill up two hours of primetime?
The verdict: Iraq war veteran and actor J.R. Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff are the winners of season 13. The duo managed to out-dance its competitors, despite being behind in points and being far less famous than either Ricki Lake or even Rob Kardashian. More impressive, they were able to defeat Rob Kardashian despite his family’s considerable Twitter pull. When a landmine survivor can beat a reality star, it gives you hope for America.

Chestiest moment:
To help kill time on the two-hour show, Grammy winning group Lady Antebellum played new single “Dancing Away With My Heart,” while the pros performed some of the season’s final dances. To mark the occasion, not a single shirt was buttoned. We’re going to miss those guys, right ladies?
Much more...

love it love it love it!  J.R. deserved to win and he did...hubs was rooting for him .. I wanted  to get off the computer and watch it with him. he would never admit that he even watched the final tee hee!

I liked it at the end when Rob said something like, I am not disappointed at all, in my mind I am already a winner...very gracious..I think that they all really really liked each other.
loved the other dancers being on the show again too..
did not see Ricki ignoring JR...that wouldn't be nice!!

I enjoyed the show the most this year of all the others and I am convinced it was cause we were here talking about it as the show was going on! I looked forward to that every week! same time next year!

Carson is dishing on GMA..I could watch him all day..
