Did police suspect Lisa Irwin's parents from the start?

Maybe this has been posted already but I live in the area where there are updates every 30 minutes on the radio.  One report is that the police suspected the mother since Monday cause she called the father at work (Starbucks) about 2 am.  The police called in the Drug Enforcement Dept. & the FBI.  The FBI was called because there was a possibility that the baby was taken across the state line.  Kansas is a few miles from here.  Plus the police is suspicious of the dumpster that was set on fire about 2 am (reported at 2;27 am) just a mile from the Irwin's home.
The police searched a landfill in Johnson County Kansas on Monday and are going over that landfill again today.

If it's true that she called the father at 2am then she did lie when she said that she didn't wake up untill the father came home at 4 am.

FBI running metal detectors around backyard at Kansas City of missing 10-month-old baby
October 7, 2011

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — FBI agents have been using metal detectors outside the home of a 10-month-old Missouri girl who disappeared earlier this week.

Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young says federal agents have been running metal detector wands around the family's yard Friday. He said the search wasn't prompted by a tip, but was being done as part of a thorough sweep of the house where the baby, Lisa Irwin, was last reported seen late Monday.

Dumpster fire?  Landfill search?  Ugh, I don't even want to imagine.

This much I'm sure of: If the Mom is lying.............. she's a GOOD liar!!

Hi everyone. I know you read the reports and you can easily think, "ya right she did it" then you see her and she is besides herself....Don't know what to think.

She could be upset and crying for two different reasons:

1)  She's innocent and the tears and anguish are because she's truly broken up by the fact that her baby is missing.

2)  She's guilty but is able to cry because she's reliving, in her mind, what happened to the baby OR she's crying for herself; fearful of what's going to happen to her if she is exposed.

I don't know what to think at this point.  I can see parents being questioned to the point of exhaustion both physically and mentally and asking to take a break from the LE interrogations.  Taking a break doesn't mean you are not cooperating..it means you need a break..you are exhausted.  The LE obviously looked at that as not cooperating..the family says not true..they are and still want to cooperate with LE.

I would think that in this situation , if the lawyer is related to the family, they may have advised them they have a right to take a break after hours of questioning.

The failed lie detector test looks bad..but under the stress of the situation  and if the mother has been given any drugs to help her cope, it is useless...and most people are advised not to take an LD test when they are under so much stress.

I just don't know what to think...it bothers me that LE folded up their search and walked away.  Even if it is the family they still need to keep looking for this baby...and if it is someone else then they need to keep a prescence in the community.

Very good points.  I wonder, why would the police interrogate so fiercely and be so intimidating to a distraught couple who just lost their baby?  Maybe because they already have some incriminating evidence, such as cell phone records.

"About noon today, a team of federal agents came and they entered the landfill searching for a missing person. Yes, it has to do with Lisa Irwin," said Tom Coffman of Deffenbaugh.

FBI agents searched a 20-to- 30-acre section of the landfill, but came away with nothing. KMBC's Peggy Breit reported that the FBI told landfill executives that they were searching for a body.

Coffman said the trash agents searched came from the area of the Irwin home.
