one has to wonder why these parents would hire a CRIMINAL ATTORNEY???

Investigators must be closing in..........

Tacopina probably contacted them after hearing Debbie's changing timeline regarding what time baby Lisa was put to bed ... regarding the admission of being drunk and possible passing out.

Tacopina realizes that the big bucks that are forthcoming from different avenues when defending clients of high profile cases.

Baby Lisa’s Parents Now Represented by Former Van Der Sloot Attorney
October 17th, 2011

An attorney representing the parents of missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin told reporters Monday that he is confident they will not be arrested in the case.

“Anything’s possible…but for the life of me, I can’t see that happening,” attorney Joe Tacopina said at an afternoon press conference with Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley standing behind him.

Tacopina, a New York-based defense attorney who once represented Joran van der Sloot, made the statement hours after NBC aired an interview with the couple in which Bradley said she was afraid she would be arrested for her daughter’s disappearance because she was the last person to see her.

Lisa Irwin has been missing for nearly two weeks, since her mother said she put her to bed in her crib in their Kansas City home around 6:40 pm on October 3. Lisa was gone when her father got home from work at 4:00 am on October 4.

While Tacopina insisted he did not want to critique the police investigation of Lisa’s disappearance, he said he was disappointed by some of the accusations “members of law enforcement” have made during questioning of the parents that he called “a little insensitive.” He declined to specify exactly what was said, but Bradley has stated in media interviews that detectives directly accused of her of harming Lisa.

Tacopina also pointed to the discovery of diapers in an abandoned house a few blocks from the Irwin home over the weekend, saying he wished things like that could have been found sooner. Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young told reporters Saturday that it did not appear that the diapers had any connection to this case.

Tacopina added that he was concerned the focus on the parents may have taken resources away from other aspects of the investigation. He praised the governor of Missouri for sending National Guard troops to assist with the search for Lisa on Sunday.

Although he repeatedly stated that Bradley and Irwin “have nothing to hide,” Tacopina said they would not be giving any more media interviews at this time and he did not let them answer any questions during the press conference.

NBC’s “Today Show” had reported Monday morning that the couple would not allow their other two children to be re-interviewed by police, but Tacopina said he was not closing the door to any options. As evidence of the parents’ cooperation with authorities, he pointed out that they had signed consent forms earlier in the day allowing additional searches of their home and of the relative’s house where they have been staying.

He urged the public to stay focused on Lisa and expressed optimism that she is alive. He also explained that he only agreed to represent Bradley and Irwin because he was certain that they were innocent.

“In my mind, there’s no question that Deborah, and Jeremy for that matter, had absolutely nothing to do with the disappearance of this baby girl,” Tacopina said.

The other day I was remembering how you said you met Mr. Veggie for the first time.......a relationship that has lasted. In spite of him tearing up the pond I like the man! Heh heh.

When "Veggie" assured me that my friend "Kermit" could use the guest room now that a pipe was layed and the pond on our property was filled in ... all was forgiven.  However ... my friend "Kermit" has yet to visit the Fraser Valley of British Coumbia ... God's country.

Good evening Monkey's,

I am curious the items removed from the neighbor's house, today

LE asked the media NOT to photograph the items.  Thinking back to Casey's neighbor, remember?

We remember was removed from the neighbor, who lived up from Casey.  Why the big deal keeping it secret?

to protect the evidence for trial maybe

He has that "death stare" in his eyes, IMO.  The same stare Misty had when she was inviewed. IMO

I agree.

I do not believe that Jeremy would be standing by Debbie considering the changing timeline and the drinking until drunk with young children under her care IF he was not a participant in the happenings encompassing the disappearance his daughter.

I could be wrong but ... for now I speculate that something bad happened to baby Lisa at some period in time PRIOR to Jeremy leaving for his FIRST night shift and then arriving home early to discover his daughter missing.  Somethng is hinky.

Inquiring minds want to know why was Jeremy required in the past to take parenting classes?

Inquiring minds want to know when was the last time ANYONE besides Jeremy and Debbie saw baby Lisa?

My thoughts are baby mama is guilty..and baby daddy didn't know anything about this ..and as the story changes and baby mamma can not keep it straight he is trying to support her but is losing faith in her and what she is saying.

I agree.  His lack of any emotion is very odd.  If he truly believed the baby was kidnapped wouldn't he show more anger, sadness or desperation?  I know people grieve and deal with things differently, but his poker face makes me scratch my head.

I was thinking that they don't want the general public to see the items because they offer a clue as to where the investigation is headed.  But then I thought, "So what?"  So perhaps it's the parents who they don't want to see this evidence.  They want to keep it secret so that the parents are unaware of any new findings.

Aurelia, good thinking.  The G.J. is meeting tomorrow (or this week). LE may wish to keep the items quiet for evidence, also "Taco" may have been hovering, before the news conference.

The secretive items, ceased, were not to keep them from public view, but from the parents and Taco's knowledge Smile
Good thinking!  I agrree, I forgot about Taco

TRAIL OF BLOOD- THE MAFIA CONNECTIONS

Joe Tacopina
After he graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Law in 1991, Tacopina gained his first trial experience as the second chair on the John Gotti defense team during the mob boss’s 1992 trial. He was only twenty-five years old.

And he knew that a courtroom was where he wanted to be. He promptly got a summer job in New York City, working for the lawyer representing Paul Castellano, the reputed Gambino crime-family boss who was later gunned down outside Sparks Steak House.

We know that Paulus turned down an offer from Rizzo - Philadelphia attorney for representation - and instead Tacopina represented he and his son.

Tacopina admits that someone is paying for this civil defense - "supporters" of the vd sloot family.

Tacopina puts his nose into the Aruban criminal case - where he has no lawful authority to practice law - LONG after the NY civil case was dismissed.

Their precious baby daughter is missing but Debbie and Jeremy will not allow investigators to question the older siblings.  Why?

Would the words of these two boys who are old enough to reveal the happenings in the home encompassing the disappearance of their sister as well as the related timeline compromise the statements of both parents?

Deborah said today that she put Lisa to bed around 6:40 and went to bed.  She also said Jeremy had to wake her after he got home from work at 4:00 a.m.  That's well over 9 hours she's saying she slept.

IIRC ... Debbie claimed on the TODAY SHOW that after she put baby Lisa to bed at 6:40 she drank wine with a neighbor until 10:30 PM and then went to bed.  She cannot remember if she checked on Lisa prior to retiring/passing out.

Since she did say (she didn't have to) she was drinking/drunk don't think she had anything to the taking of the baby.

However, I still feel it has to be someone who had been watching her, since she does probably drink a lot.
Hope LE still looks at that last video at the store.  Maybe someone followed them home.  Maybe she was saying at the store, oh my hubby is working a night shift.
She shouldn't of been drinking, but these are the facts we have to deal with.

I have read the posts about her drinking and I got a kooky idea. As an alcoholic, I often would drink until I did not remember what happened. I would have to ask people what happened. (not my proudest moment but was a long time ago). I wonder if this is why she failed the LD. Perhaps she DID do something to the baby but does not consciously remember. Her subconscious would remember though and she would fail any question asked about it.

I am not surprised she does not find her drinking to be a problem - until the bottom smacks you in the face most alcoholics don't realize it.
