WhiskeyGirl brings us news and ideas.  Her article on Tolerance leads to thoughts about how much tolerance.

This country is my house and your house—the house of each and every citizen.  We have welcomed immigrants for centuries.  Our house is being invaded by the uninvited.  It’s not the house of illegal immigrants.  It’s not the house of  “green card” residents.  It’s not the house of permanent residents—if they wanted to be citizens they should become citizens.  This is the house of American Citizens.

Share the Wealth:
Imagine inviting four people for dinner, but 100 show up—call them the IX for simplicity.  Over 30 more IX sneak in through the window to use your bathroom, to take up space in your home—sharing electricity, water, food, using your bandaids, medications and toilet paper.  The temperature is 98 degrees.  You can’t cool the house because of all the warm bodies.  It’s overwhelming local electricity.  Oops—brownout.
(Limited choice—electricity)

Share the Work:
Two of the IX are hired in place of your son, because it costs less to hire them.  Employers don’t have to fill out forms, do payroll taxes.  Darn, your son is on unemployment.  Cost to you and the system.  Loss of local, State and Federal Revenue.  Overwhelming the system.
(Limited choice—jobs)

Share the Education:
Ten IX children are going to the elementary school; your taxes just went up.  Your daughter enrolled in a Texas university--as out-of-state student; there may not be a spot for your daughter.  You didn’t get a salary increase, and can hardly afford the out-of-state tuition. Other IX kids in Texas (relatives and friends of your local IX) qualify for IX in-state tuition break.  Your daughter didn’t get in; she has to go to community college, if there’s room.
(Limited choice Education)

Share the Vote:
It’s election time.  There is a candidate for Mayor, who supports legal immigration; and, a candidate who supports tolerance for illegal immigration.  The people camped out in your basement get together and vote (illegally) for the guy who supports illegal immigration.  Other illegal folks got paid by a community action group to work the streets registering voters for their candidate—amazingly, they found Mickey Mouse and George Washington.  The guy who supports tolerance gets into office and makes rules/regulations supporting tolerance for illegal people living in the town.  The new Mayor declares your town as a “Sanctuary City.”
(Limited value Vote)

Share the Flag:
One Monday morning, a new flagpole was erected over City Hall.  The IX flag was raised high above the American Flag.

Throughout the week, the American Flag was replace with the IX Flag.  IX Flags appeared in all the classrooms.  The students were required to pledge allegiance to the IX flag, or receive failing grades.

Share the Voice:

A month later, the Main Street protesters descended on the square.  They were everywhere.  Tents went up; noise levels went up.  The taxpayers were shouted down.

Signs read:  “Rich pay UR fair share”; “Communists want respect”; “Marx was a good guy”; “Gimme More”; “Nazi Party for equal Treatment, except for Jews”; “Kudos for Che’ and Fidel”; “Crap on Capitalism”; “Huge for Hugo!”  The protests had nothing to do with the current situation.  News coverage promoted more protesters.

Harold Biased, noted CAT TV commentator, interviewed the best and brightest protestors.  Twenty feet from the rolling cameras were the dirty, drunken, disheveled protesters.  A cloud of “maryjane” wafted into view.  There were no smell transmissions to sting the noses of viewers; but, taxpayers were gagging—thirty feet away.  The viewers saw pretty protestors.  The taxpayers smelled sweat, magic-dragon air, and excrement.  There was only one microphone; it wasn’t for taxpayers.

The President of the United States gave the protesters a “National Shout Out.”

The IX Mayor stepped to the microphone and praised the movement.  He announced his new edict:  FREEDOMTOWN will be renamed “TOLERANCE” from this day forward.  The crowd yelled, gave happy “twinkle waves”, cheered, danced, and clapped.  The taxpayers’ shoulders slumped from the prospect of doom and gloom.

Share the Law:

The town’s 5 taxpaying Police Officers quit.  The Mayor hired 10 IX to replace them, at 50% the cost of the original 5 officers.  The new IX police were sworn in.

IX officers arrested a taxpayer who tried to grab the microphone.  Another taxpayer tried to get to the front of the protest crowd to help the first taxpayer, was punched, doubled over.  A fight broke out.  Protesters swore the taxpayer threw the first punch.  Although the taxpayer was still doubled over, the police arrested him.  The protester walked away.  The taxpayers were angry.

Anticipating more trouble, the Mayor hurried to the microphone.  He announced a new edict:  Tolerance was now a gun-free zone.  The police were the only persons authorized to carry weapons.

Throughout the influx of IX, taxpayers had been moving across the river.  The town had fewer and fewer taxpayers as time went on.  The streets had potholes.  The sewer system was overflowing; sewage ran onto the streets.  After a water main ruptured, the sewage leaked into the water system.  People were getting water from the river.

There were no funds to repair the town.  The Mayor attempted to collect taxes from the IX; however, IX were sending most of their money home so their uncles, cousins, parents could come to “Tolerance.”

The taxpayers pleaded with the Governor.  The Governor and Legislators passed a law reinforcing Federal Law--attempting to help the taxpayers.  The DOJ sued the State, declaring supremacy over the issue.  The Courts took the teeth out of the State’s Law.  More taxpayers moved across the river.  The taxpayers were disgusted.

The law was hog-tied.  There was no help coming for the taxpayers.

Share the Business:

One by one, businesses closed.  The only grocery store was the lone business operating in town.  Larry Liberal and Paul Progressive were partners.  Ten years ago, they had pooled their money, sacrificed extras for their families, to buy the store.  It had been doing well.  Although they had saved money hiring IX workers, there was little income, now.  Supplies were dwindling rapidly.

Regular grocery deliveries had stopped.  Truckers avoided Tolerance.  Food warehouse companies refused to send more products on credit.  Larry and Paul were up to their eyeballs in debt; they had used credit cards for previous deliveries.  The food on the shelves was disappearing, because people were starving and stealing from the store shelves.

While Larry and Paul were trying to figure out how to get more food, bricks smashed the front store window.  A fight had broken out between the IX and the protesters.  That’s it!  They were running through the back door within 10 seconds.

Larry and Paul went to their homes, grabbed their families, jumped in their cars, and drove as fast as they could to the river.  They were turned back at the bridge.  Former townspeople stopped Liberal and Progressive from entering the settlement across the river.

The two cars backed up, turned, and sped south out of sight.  The owners of the last business in Tolerance. . . fled the scene.

(Share the Consequences)

The IX wanted a better life.  America was the “land of opportunity.”  IX took the opportunity, but didn’t foresee the consequences.  As the town became more and more crowded the town structure eroded.  When the town was far beyond capacity, the services were overwhelmed, and the infrastructure disintegrated.  The town collapsed.

The Protesters converged on the town for attention.  News crews converged to cover hot news—improve ratings.  Hollywood Stars arrived to have another moment in the spotlight, promoting their causes.  Politicians came to encourage the protesters and get some face-time.  (All of the Politicians were from one party.) Few of them stayed more than mere hours.  The famous filmed “hit and run” video clips.  Then, ran.

There was support for IX; support for protesters; and no support for the taxpayers who built and maintained the town.  The town was nearly destroyed.  The situation became so bad, the protesters moved to a field west of town.

Some of the IX wanted to leave, but they had no money.  Several of the IX families sneaked out, and set up a small encampment north of town.

Taxpayers gone, the town stripped bare.  There was one more possibility--the rich guy in the mansion on the hill.  He had water, food, money—he had resources.  “Power of persuasion, or persuasion of power”-- the IX would get what they needed, what they wanted.

Walter Wealthy. . . . . . . .  the solution!

Wealthy History

1)  The Wealthys were immigrants from a mining town in Wales.  John Wealthy (the great, great grandfather) worked in the mines.  John and the family wanted a better life.  They saved every penny they could; were given pennies from relatives; a childless couple (neighbors) gave pennies.  Finally, there was enough money to pay passage and acquire a few supplies.  John and his family left their tiny cottage; waved goodbye to their loved ones; and, boarded a boat to America.  After working the mines in Pennsylvania, the John Wealthy Family was able to move to a small patch of ground.  It wasn’t much, but it was theirs.

John Wealthy had a knack for business.  John worked for the new settlers, helping them set up their survival.  He realized he could never prosper with just the small patch.  Some of the settlers paid him in coin; others paid in goods; and some settlers were unable to pay.  He traded goods, and saved coin.  John worked from first light to last light.

Wealthy, also, farmed his own land.  When his sons were old enough, Wealthy opened a general store, while his sons worked the farm.  At first, he could only feed his family; later, he could sell or trade excess goods.  Twice a year, he would travel to the big city to buy dress goods, and other supplies—which he resold.  His wife and daughters applied their talents to the materials and sold clothing at the store.  Wealthy was able to “put by” money.  Wealthy bought more land.

2)  A town grew near the Wealthy Farm.  John bought 2 freight wagons, and a stagecoach.  His oldest son, Hugh Wealthy, established the freight/stagecoach line and blazed a trail (which later became a main road) 40 miles to the east and 40 miles to the west.  John’s second son worked the west farm; the third son maintained the north farm.  The town had work, the town had goods, the town had travelers and Hugh Wealthy began to acquire riches.

The town was booming.  The people of the town wanted to name it “Wealthyville.”  The Wealthys would not hear of it.  Hugh said they should name it “Freedomtown” because his father always said it was here he found freedom.

Hugh Wealthy paid a studious young man to study medicine, if he would return to the town.  In a few years, the town had a doctor.  He partnered with another man to set up a way station, which would provide food and primitive lodging.  He married, had children; and, the children participated in building the town.

3)  Hugh Wealthy’s second son (Philip Wealthy) found a way to bring the highway, and the railroad to town.  He built a big hotel, a mill, expanded the freight company, founded a hospital and a school.  Philip Wealthy married and had one son, Walter.

4)  Walter Wealthy inherited a fortune.  Walter became a structural engineer; and then, trained in the military.  He drew up plans and added a wing to the hospital; built a new church (gave the old one to another congregation) and designed and built the Town Hall—which also housed the police station.

Walter designed and built a mansion on the hill, overlooking town.  He purchased a helicopter for his travel but made it available, in case of emergency.  Walter Wealthy was a generous man, descended from generous, hard-working men.

Present Day

As Walter looked out the second floor window, he saw the mob rushing toward the mansion.  He wasn’t shocked, only surprised it hadn’t happened sooner.

Here it comes!

The Mayor assembled the 10 IX police; the IX gathered everybody they could find.  One IX ran to the field to tell the protesters.  They met at the Town Hall, formed, and raced up the hill toward the gated mansion.

- -

Weeks before, Walter Wealthy had anticipated the IX would come for everything he had.  He didn’t have to “be a weatherman to see which way the wind blows.”  A former soldier, he knew when to give ground.  He had made the necessary calls on his cell.  Walter was prepared.

A moving company loaded two trucks in the middle of the night.  The propane tanks were disconnected and hidden; the satellite dish was turned toward the ground and the wires cut. The solar collectors were disconnected; the batteries hauled to the safe room--disguised behind a wall in the basement.  Water was drained from the water system; pumps were removed.  All useful material was disabled, hidden, or taken away.

A third truck had taken supplies, food, 5 generators, and all weapons from the mansion, to the settlement east of the river.  The helicopter was loaded and fueled.  Preparations were finished.

As the mob tried to break down the gate, they became more and more enraged.  The IX police fired their weapons into the air, stirring up the crowd.  They fired, and reloaded; and, continued until they were out of bullets.  The sharp sounds further enraged the mob; they broke through the gates and, surged toward the mansion’s doors and windows.

- -

The helicopter rose above the trees.  Walter looked down at the mob.  There was nothing left in the mansion except the drapes, cot, and a cooler (with a half-eaten sandwich and partial bottle of water.)  Walter was thankful none of the IX police fired at the copter.  (He didn’t know the police had run out of bullets.)

He flew northwest, low over the reservoir; then turned right to fly over the land north of town.  He saw a group of IX under the trees near the north farm.  None of the group shot at him; they just watched as he passed by.  He crossed the river, turned south and landed at the taxpayers’ settlement on the east side of the river.

Another phase completed.

As the helicopter descended, the taxpayers stopped what they were doing and ran toward the landing zone.  They cheered as Walter jumped down.  “Glad you made it, Walt!”  “Thanks for the goodies!”  “Great to see you!”  The kids began chanting, “Walt, Walt, Walt.”  The adults joined in, and the sound became almost deafening.  One taxpayer shouted, “Let’s name this settlement after Walt!”

Walter’s face turned a pinkish-red, and he yelled over the din, “No, we need a name which propels us in a direction, and describes what we are doing here, and where we are going. Succeed, or fail, others need to remember this.  It’s justice we seek, and justice we will perform.  Carefully, crafted JUSTICE.  We must remember where we were; how low we came; how hard we’ve worked; and, where we are going.  This is Justice; and we will apply Justice to Tolerance.  Thanks, but we have lots of work to do; we need to get to it.  JUSTICE—is an appropriate name.”

Walt hurried off to the Planning Tent.  The crowd quieted.  Fun over, their faces became serious again.  The crowd went back to work.

One group filled a few boxes with 1 sandwich and 1 bottle of water in each box; then they wrapped a small rock in crumpled newspaper and packed the several newspapers around the sandwich and bottle—which added a little weight and stability to each box.  They stacked the boxes near the helicopter.  Then, they loaded the copter--placed the boxes 2-high, 5-wide, perpendicular to the sliding copter door.

Another group was tasked with providing food, water, blankets for the riders on the 4 buses scheduled for tomorrow night.  They loaded the buses with 2 days supplies.  First day supplies were in the buses; second day supplies were stowed under the buses.  Each seat held a box containing food and water—the blanket was placed on top of the box.

A third group packed 5 backpacks with 8 water bottles, and 15 sandwiches each pack.  A 6th contained medical supplies.  They took the packs to Group A.

An hour before dusk, Walt and his crew left the tent.  They had 200 pamphlets, which they put in the back of the helicopter.  Walt checked the copter, he and Joe (co-pilot) climbed into the front; Tom (a strong, lightweight) climbed in the back with the pamphlets.

They passed over town, letting the pamphlets scatter in the wind.  Then they flew lower, over the west field.  Again, pamphlets were scattered and drifted down to the ground.  The protesters picked up pamphlets.

Pamphlets read:  “DARWIN TEST…….begins soon.  LEAVE NOW!
                            JUSTICE IS COMING!”

While the copter was distracting IX and the protesters, another group had their duty.  GROUP A assembled-- a team of 6: [1 former IX taxpayer who spoke the language; 1 former Special Forces; 2 regulars; 1 “strong man”; and a 70 year-old Vietnam Vet Medic.]  The team was rested, fed, and ready to go.  They werer gone before the copter lifted off.

Most of the trek was not difficult for Group A.  The Vet had some trouble fording the river; but, the “strong man” moved upstream from him—blocking some of the current’s strength.  Vet made it to the other side.  The team waited to proceed until full darkness covered the area.  Then, they moved close to the bushes in the north field—near the collection of quiet IX people.  The former IX continued alone.  He approached them, speaking IX softly.  “I brought some food and water.”

“Five friends are by the bushes, they have more.”  He pointed and turned back to the group, “Is anyone injured?”  He pointed to the Vet, ”He will help.”  Several people moved to the Vet.  Group A distributed the supplies and patched some minor wounds.  “Do you have leaders?”

Two men and a woman stepped forward.  They spoke in English; explained that they wanted to leave but had no means to do anything.  Group A explained the plan and encouraged the leaders to spread the word to the most trusted.  The team melted into the darkness and returned to Justice settlement.

- -

The following morning, half the protesters had gone.  They just drifted out overnight.  More of the hopeless, wanting to leave, followed others to the north field.  A group of IX sneaked out of town, passed the sleeping protesters, and went toward the next town.

The numbers were more in favor of the taxpayers, now.

The taxpayers were up with the sun the next day.  They worked all day to complete their tasks, ate a last light meal, rested a while, and at dark . . . it was time.

The buses rolled out with Group B aboard.  Using lights cautiously, they proceeded north along the river 35 miles to the next bridge, across the bridge and south to the north field.  When Group B got off the bus, the IX boarded the bus.

Group B headed for the reservoir.  The buses were loaded quickly.  They rolled out about the time Group B reached the reservoir.  Group B reached the reservoir flood gates, and opened two of the four gates enough for streams of water to flow steadily toward the west field below.  The west field should flood to a depth of about 4-10 inches.  It began to rain right on time.

Walt and his crew gave the buses enough time to reach the north field.  The sky was overcast as rain began; but, there was little wind.  The copter lifted off and flew toward town.  Scouts crossed the bridge, hid in the bushes and watched.  The remaining Groups gathered at the bridge waiting for the signal.

Some of the IX had remained in the mansion, angrily breaking windows.  They set fire to the curtains; the curtains didn’t burn--just smoldered and smelled awful.  Most of the IX returned to the town square.  When the copter flew over, a box was dropped here, another there, until 10 boxes thunked to the ground.

Groups of IX raced for the boxes, knocking each other over.  The first to grab boxes were beaten off.  Fighting was everywhere.  Beaten and bloody, the winners fell to the ground (among the losers) with a piece of dirty sandwich, or a small amount of water left in the bottle.  Only one man was left standing.

The copter rose in the sky, flashed its lights. The taxpayers poured over the bridge (guns in hand) and formed a line.  Taxpayers, a foot apart, marched forward-- pushing stray IX ahead until the line reached town.

There was an opening to the west.  Some IX ran for it; others stumbled in that direction.  Many stayed where they were, lying on the ground.

Only one taxpayer was injured.  The lone standing IX was a cop who had one bullet left—which he had found in a drawer.  He wobbled and fired at a female holding a shotgun.  The bullet hit the tree next to her and she received shrapnel (tree splinters) in her shoulder and side.  Before she went down, she delivered a “punkin ball” to lone man’s knee.  (Lone man had chosen to target the best shot in the county.)

The whole scene looked like a mass beat-down at “Woodstock” in a sewer.

The protesters were not a big problem.  Nearly half of them left after the “Darwin Test Pamphlet.”  More left as rain continued and the water ran down from the reservoir--flooding the field.  There were only 4 protesters standing on a mound in the middle of the field, by the time the taxpayers got there.  Several taxpayers waded into the water and helped the soggy slobs to the road.  The 4 were given a bottle of water each and sent on their way. Tough love, no; it was tough justice.

The buses came back for the IX; the moving trucks came back with the mansion’s contents; the taxpayers began to clean up their reclaimed town.  Freedomtown was shortened to “Freedom”—short, simple and monumentally important.

Communists and Socialists formed a large crew to help the protesters in Tolerance.  By the time they approached the town it was all over.  Finished.  Everyone was gone, except the taxpayers.  Too late.  The C & S moved on.

[Tolerance is being quiet while in disagreement.  Tolerance can be standing silently while watching your own demise.  Tolerance brought the citizens close to total destruction.  Freedom was rescued by Justice.    In this story, Tolerance could have killed Freedom.]

Freedom was safe . . . . for now.

How much do we tolerate?

Thousands of illegals pouring across the border, diluting our resources, usurping jobs.

Immigration Laws not inforced.

DOJ suing States which dare to enforce Immigration Laws.

Mobs in the streets yelling for MORE STUFF.

Congressmen wanting to make everything the same in everybody’s home.

Fannie executives wanting bonuses for failure.

Unions siphoning workers’ dues to promote their candidates.

Community organizers taking taxpayers’ dollars to work against taxpayers.

We’ve seen “too big to fail”.  It is not US; we are not “too big to fail.”

Will we tolerate failures until we push ourselves into oblivion?

I think part of it's due to the "Paris Hilton Welfare State" mentality.

A long time ago, someone worked, saved, built and empire, and left their children a giant trust fund.  Paris Hilton is the result.  Spend, spend, spend...

Someone looked out for her, not knowing her and put money aside.  Money that would last a life time.  She seems to do a good job spending.

Problem?  Today, folks seem to think taxpayers owe them a Paris Hilton Trust Fund too.

Welfare?  No problem.  Your Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund will pay you cradle to grave deluxe benefits for a lifetime.  Need more money?  No problem, Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund is there...

Union?  Want a Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund too?  No problem.  Both sides of the agreement seem to have decided a long time ago that future taxpayers would decide how to pay for what was promised to you.  Doesn't seem to matter if you're public or private sector union member, Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund will be there for you.

OWS?  Want a Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund to pay for your college, job, housing too?  No problem.  Your Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund is there.  Does it matter if you can't find affordable housing due to rent stabilization/control?  Some in the building (maybe even a politician!) pay just $200 a month (rented 30 years ago) and they want $3,500 for the unit available today?  No problem, your Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund will be there for you.

Why don't they pass a law required properties to post the lowest and highest rents in the building?  See how much new tenants are subsidizing existing tenants?  Welfare family can't find affordable housing?  Landlord wants $3,000 and the lowest rent today in the building for a similar building is $750?

Who subsidizes these monsters?  Federal taxpayers.  If communities, cities create rental nightmares, they should pay for it.  Stop asking for everyone else in non-subsidized communities to pay for your socialism/communism/yesterday's bad financial decisions...

I watched for years as young people left California (love to live there, could buy a house but can't afford property taxes...) and New York for more affordable areas.

If past union leaders and bargainers didn't put your pension money away, why did they promise you lifetime benefits?  Why did they expect to socialize the losses on taxpayers?  How much delayed corporate welfare have union jobs received over the years?

Who are the real fat cats?

What's wrong with earning your way through life and saving for your retirement?

Why shouldn't everyone just keep their own money, pay government workers a package in line with the private sector or outsource, and folks donate freely to the charity of their own choosing?

For some reason, an increasing number of folks expect taxpayers to support their Paris Hilton taxpayer trust fund from cradle to grave...

WWII Vets, and Viet Nam Vets, turned away from their own Memorials; while an Immigration Reform Rally is held on the National Mall... during SHUTDOWN!  How many illegals attended the Rally, while Citizens were not permitted.  Who supported this "smack in the face?"

Do you see the change, yet?

And I recall Obama claiming he had to furlough the border guards, not that they arrest illegals and drug gangs crossing the border since he took office...

For some reason, illegals are better than citizens, its been that way for some time.
