How could I go about requesting a
section f
or sex offenders (wanted/absconded) with a Facebook page...I have found a few in my spare time. It's sick and the one that I am looking at tonight is on Zoosk (and has made many female friends it appears from his Facebook page). Do they not check him out? I know I do. Anyhow, it would be nice to have...this guy is in the Orlando area...several missing from here.
It would be nice if it were kept from public view.
..so they don't go off of the radar. I sent a tip in...but, who knows if it will be followed up on. This guy is charged with sexual battery with a weapon. Scary...he is on MY streets...

, if it's more than just a thread you're asking for, it would be Klaasend's decision. I'm sure she'll see this and give you an answer (if she's not doing at as I compose this.
) As far as anything being kept from view, I can already answer that. We don't have places here at Scared Monkeys that are out of view. All posts are available for viewing for all to see.
I wonder if some of the sex offenders with facebook pages are violating their terms of probation and etc. for having a fb page? The more I read, the scarier it seems, especially as we find some are serial offenders. As LE's tools improve, I think we'll see more and more crimes linked and I think we only see the tip of the iceberg most of the time. JMHO
Let's see what Klaas has to say.

Although your request is admirable and sounds like a good idea at first glance, in actuality, it's too easy to set up a fake Facebook, Zoosk, Myspace, etc and the liability of posting false information is great. Also, you wouldn't want to give them the "heads up" that someone found them. It is much safer sending the information to the authorities in private than posting it in the open.

Thanks Muffy and Klaas for responding. I agree Muffy that the majority are serial offenders. I just want them gone. It is scary. Klaas...I definitely see your point and respect it. Thanks. I will just keep finding them and sending a tip...even though it is likely nothing is done. So sad. This particular man is creepy and his status is awful. I don't see how he can be an absconder yet live openly on Facebook.

I know............ I'm technologically challenged, and way behind the times, but........
I don't know how to Twitter.
I don't understand it. On TV, you see these long lists of posts or tweets or whatever you call them, and the TV host invites you to "join the conversation". I've tried 2 times to "tweet" but I really just want to see the list they are talking about. How do you do that??
If I want to read someone's tweets while I'm at my computer, I just put as where I want to go:
https://twitter.com/
plus their twitter addy.
Example:
https://twitter.com/#!/kctv5
https://twitter.com/#!/JudgeJeanine
Notice the prefix for twitter addy is the same. After the / you can put in the addy. See? And that's why I know how to finish out a twitter address when one of our monkeys posts a tweet and fails to put in the full address.
I can see the tweeters name, and all I have to do is add the prefix, url tags and then it's a working, clickable link.
If that's clear as mud, here is the link for twitter help center:
http://support.twitter.com/
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Muffy!!
OK............ I'm going to have to break down your post. LOL! Seriously, I'm going to have to decipher it like I do exams or government regulations. I'm so excited............ I feel like you've given me a prized decoding sheet and I can now break into the safe!
It's late, so I'll give it a try in the morning when my head isn't so cluttered. Coffee and safe cracking in the A.M.!!
Klaas.......... OK, if I get to your account, will it show me a list of things people have twitted you like I see on TV when the host says "Join the conversation?"
Will I become a Twit?
I'm sure it's simple once you know how, right? I remember, (to my great embarrassment) the first time I used a computer. I started typing. I typed a line. It appeared that it was near the end of the first line, so I started looking for the "return" key. I looked and looked and just couldn't find it. Did I get up and walk away? Noooooooooooo................. I called my neighbor to ask him where it was.
I couldn't understand a word he was saying for almost 5 minutes. He was screaming with laughter! He ended up coming over.......... I honestly think he just wanted to see it for himself!
He has a doctorate in finance and, at the time, had been teaching at the University for years. Computers had been part of his life forever and we're good friends, but he just couldn't pass that one up. He kept showing me stuff about the internet and I wasn't interested.
Not long after I finally started playing around just a little with "the web" on my nifty dial up modem, I decided to see if I could find a leather skirt for winter. I wanted a mid calf length and couldn't find one locally. OMG..................... I will never forget it! One late night, after everyone was in bed, I clicked a link, and it was a porn site! Not only was it a porn site but it had audio! There was this woman moaning and groaning and breathing in my den!! I tried to "x" it away like my neighbor taught me, but she just kept moaning no matter what I did! He had told me to never shut down the computer manually so I was afraid to just shut it off with the power button and she just kept breathing!! I had NO idea about the volume controls and she was LOUD! I had made the picture go away, but that woman wouldn't shut up! I kept thinking............ nobody can last this long, who's she kidding?! I almost died when my 8 year old came staggering in................... she woke him up!!!
At that point, I pushed the power button! FINALLY, she shut up!
Hopefully, my adventure into twitter won't be so eventful.
LOL

Oh Monkeys I am so excited!! I have been working on my Family tree for a long time. Those of you that do it know how addicting it is.
I received an offer from Ancestry.com to be part of their new DNA testing for genealogy. I got my kit and sent in the sample today. They said it would be 6 to 8 weeks before I heard anything back from them. But I am so jazzed. I had my daughter do it so I would hopefully get links for both sides of the family.

Oh, Green Eyes, you are speaking to the Queen of Genealogy. I have traced my mothers family tree since she passed away 1998. It has been a long journey. I have visited every courthouse from here to Shenandoah County, VA. I have found where her family live just 25 miles from where I live; I have visited all the courthouses around Dandridge,, TN; I have been 3 times to Shenandoah Co., VA and gone through all the records in their courthouse that dates back to 1797. I have met cousins in Delaware, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, Missouri, Illinois and I would not trade it for anything. We are close to my 3 cousin in Michigan. They come here all the time on their way to New Orleans to visit their son who is a chef down in the French Quarter. He is crazy. I took him and his wife to where our family lived and it has a road sign that says Combs Lane. Well he HAD to have his picture made in front of it so I took it. We went to the family graveyard and the people who own the land have 3 great danes running loose. We drive up to the house and here comes those great danes and I say "Cousin, you get out and see if it is o.k. if we go to the cemetery". The look on his face was priceless. I would not trade my adventures for nothing. I belong to a family website and transcribe all documents I get onto the website. I had this cousin do a DNA test so we could see what particular group we belonged to because you have to have an all male lineage. We now know what line we belong to and my next adventure is New Jersey and New York. I have met great people along the way. I love it. You will too. Good Luck.

Blue Moon, That is so cool. I understand about meeting family. I have meant so many different members from different lines. Every time I find someone new I get so excited. I thought that doing the DNA was the next step. Since Ancestry started doing this new testing I figured why not. Have fun on your adventure to New York and New Jersey. Did that a few years back. All I can say is it was an education in many ways.

I have been told that you can report sex offenders to Facebook and that they are generally not suppose to have a FB account. It has been awhile since I was told about this, so I am not sure of the information, just what I remember in my puny brain.

I will just keep finding them and sending a tip...even though it is likely nothing is done. So sad. This particular man is creepy and his status is awful. I don't see how he can be an absconder yet live openly on Facebook.
I have been told that you can report sex offenders to Facebook and that they are generally not suppose to have a FB account. It has been awhile since I was told about this, so I am not sure of the information, just what I remember in my puny brain.
Thanks flutter, I didn't even think about that.

Hi Nonesuche! I was able to reach her last night. She was fine then so I'm sure she's OK today as well. How are you doing? You still out west or have you gone back home now?
