Bluemoon,

Very striking.  How long have you been growing all those pretty mums?
I like your bird bath, too.  Smile

These mum's are over 11 years old.  They were grown in a field (garden) and they last better than mum's grown in a container.  They are spreading out and I need to dig them all up and reset them---will do that next year.  Bird bath came from a concrete place around Mammoth Cave State Park.  It has a dutch boy/girl that sets atop it but I didn't put in on this year.

Beautiful Blue Moon!  It's rare these days to see Mum's growing in the "wild".  I remember my MIL used to plant the mums she would get as gifts in the garden and they would grow like yours.  Love them!  Usually around here you just see them in pots in the stores to be given as gifts.

Sadly, Babs, there are more of these kind of people than I care to imagine.

For those that haven't tried them, HOLIDAY GRAPES are the best grapes in the world IMO.  They are only available in stores mid October thru mid November.  Right now they are at their best!  If you can get them locally please try them.  They are like candy:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Holiday-Seedless-Grapes/31645104027

http://www.melissas.com/Products/Products/Holiday-Red-Seedless-Grapes.aspx

Uses

An extra large variety from Central California specifically bred for their late maturing sweetness; Holiday Seedless Red Grapes are far superior to other common varieties at this time of the season. Available for just a very few weeks from mid October to early November, this delicacy looks as stunning as it tastes with its oversized, round, deep red fruit. In order to maintain consistently high quality, our growers go through a labor-intensive process of hand pruning, cleaning and harvesting this very special grape.
Selection, Storage and Handling

Look for bright colored grapes with no shrivel, decay or shatter. Stems should be fresh and green. Grapes should always be stored under refrigeration, preferably in the fruit crisper, set at low humidity.

Hurricane Sandy is a storm that our Northeastern Monkeys might want to keep an eye on. Here's a link: http://www.myfoxny.com/story/19899985/tropical-storm-could-target-nj

Blue Moon: Your Mums are just beautiful! I always think of mums as "the last color" flowers and a promise that Spring will start the cycle again. They are gorgeous against the backdrop of Fall leaves!

Thanks for the reminder about Holiday Grapes, Klaas! I love, love, love them and haven't looked for them yet! YUM!!!
