Joran's going to have a difficult time making the case that Stephany's murder was "spur of the moment". His computer browsing history proves that he was very aware of the 5 year anniversary of Natalee's death. It also shows that there was no search on his laptop related to Natalee for the duration of time Stephany was with Joran.

It's far more plausible that Joran targeted another young girl to commemorate Natalee's murder. Stephany was in the wrong place at a predestined and orchestrated wrong time.

The "coincident" of the 5 year anniversary is way too far a stretch.

Exactly CBB.  The date alone will hang Joran.  His lies have finally caught up with him and he can't wiggle out of it.  If he does then there is something corrupt going on.

Van der Sloot trial suspended, to resume January 11
By Manuel Vigo
January 6, 2012

 ::snipping2::

He asked for more time to decided whether he would plead guilty or not.

Despite pleas from the prosecutor, the trial was postponed until Wednesday January 11, at 11:00 AM.

The prosecution asked for a 30-year sentence and a 200 thousand soles fine (US $74,000) .

After the trial Ricardo Flores, Stephany's father, thanked everyone for their support, and thanked the media for respecting his family’s privacy.

He said his family looked forward to obtaining closure, and said he would not be making any more public comments regarding the case.

"I'm not surprised ... they have suspended the hearing so they can have it clear. I think it is good for my family, for the peace, that this should come to a quick conclusion. I hope that the Peruvian authorities do not make a joke of the sentence. I think they should allow my family to have some peace, to be able to close this issue.”

Prosecutor demands 30 years, Joran asks reflection Prosecutor demands 30 years
Friday, January 6, 2012 8:38

ORANGE CITY / LIMA - Joran was in court today in Lima, Peru, in order to account for the murder of Stephany Flores (21) on May 30, 2010. He heard 30 years in prison to her demands. His appearance before the court was short lived. When the judges asked him if he wanted to admit guilt on all charges, he would "think about it." The case was then suspended until next Wednesday.

If Joran decides to confess, then the court then 48 hours to come to a decision. Confesses he does not, then the process. The trial is held in the Lurigancho prison, a prison complex in the same neighborhood as the Castro Castro prison where Joran been stuck nineteen months.

The media coverage of the case is great. Journalists from around the world, the Netherlands and the United States to Japan, have traveled to the country to report on the lawsuit. Joran got about four hours in the afternoon local time an armored car and was under police escort brought into the courtroom. Moreover, he wore a bulletproof vest under his clothing.

 ::snipping2::

Upon his arrest and extradition from Chile were human rights violations, says Joran. His lawyers have therefore the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights filed a complaint. Joran would also complain about the subsequent police interrogation in the Peruvian capital Lima. The lawyer and the translator were present at the hearing, would not have been neutral. Observers of this committee this morning were expected in court.

Joran van der Sloot to Begin Peru Murder Trial
Published January 05, 2012

<snipped

Prosecutors are seeking a 30-year prison sentence for Van der Sloot on murder and theft charges in a trial that will be held at Lima's Lurigancho prison. He is accused of murdering Flores with "ferocity and great cruelty," and prosecutors say he also stole 600 soles, about $220, from the victim.

<snipped>

The defense will argue that Van der Sloot killed Flores in a state of emotional distress.

"We will challenge the aggravating factors (charged by the prosecution) and seek to reduce the charge from first-degree murder to simple homicide," Jimenez said. That charge carries a prison sentence of from eight to 20 years.

He said his client, whose prominent lawyer father died of a heart attack on an Aruba tennis court in February 2010, was in a fragile state from years of being under suspicion for Holloway's presumed death and other legal problems stemming from that case.

"The killing was impromptu. There was no planning to carry it out," Jimenez said.

Asked for a detailed description of the killing:

"She was on the bed when I hit her hard with my right elbow and I think her head went back and hit the wall, then she begins to bleed, immediately I get on top of her and with both hands I begin to strangle her, keeping her that way for a minute. After that, I throw her to the floor but she keeps breathing. At that moment I take off my shirt and put it on her face, pressing on it. I don't remember for how long but she stops breathing, in this way I think I caused her death."

Joran van der Sloot's Mother - The Natalee Holloway Case

Transcript: Van der Sloots Speak
Published June 23, 2005

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT, JORAN VAN DER SLOOT'S MOTHER: Joran is a very outgoing person. He's a sweetheart.

<snipped

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Any drug use or alcohol use by him?

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT: A hundred percent no. No. He is, like, Mom, I would not smoke or I would not use drugs because I am a sporter. I want to make something out of my future. If there would have been anything of that, I would have noticed. I'm a teacher. I work with kids between 12 and 18 years, the last 25 years. So you're used to so many things, problems that appear with your students. You're so alert. And I think you're even more alert with your own children.

<snipped>

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT: It's extremely tough. He's in custody now for 13, 14 days, I think. I have lost count. And I love my child. I believe in him 200 percent. And it's just like a big nightmare. We don't know how to deal with it because you can't deal with it. We think about the family a lot because their life is a nightmare, too, but our life is a nightmare, too.

<snipped>

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT:   And he was telling me, Mommy, look at me, I'm reading the Bible. Did you ever think about that? And I think it's great. It's difficult to read.

<snipped>

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT: Something he told me last night, that he still didn't believe it was true. And he said, Mom, don't worry, because I was crying and he was really hugging me. He said, The truth will come forward, and I know that I didn't do anything to the girl. And the truth will come forward. And he was so strong.  And I believe in him. I believe so in him.

Stephany Flores death was the direct result of enabling ... the enabling of Joran van der Sloot.  Natalee Holloway's uncle comprehended.

I am amazed that the people who love or care for Joran do not yet see that he needs the help that can only be provided by him going to the authorities and telling the entire truth. Being rejected by society, labled as a criminal, all are taking a horrible toll on Joran that is going to fuel his addictions and push him further and further into a self destructive lifestyle. I would think his mother would recognize Joran's needs, and see the benefit he would gain even from incarceration. Isn't an investment of five or so years worth a return of the rest of Joran's life? ....

It is very telling that Beth's life is getting brighter every day, considering her loss, yet Joran the boy who "got away with it" is descending deeper and deeper into a self convicted sentence of life without parole unless he confesses. He will never, never be able to move on from this without repentance. Corny, yes, self serving, yes I want him to tell the truth, but is it the absolute truth, the absolute gospel, yes. Surprise, no, it is as the Bible teaches.

I was reading Insessions FB, I read a post from a person, who knows of a heroin user and what she said made sense to me.  With his attitude, smiling, acting oblivious, nonchalant and nodding off, etc. are signs of drug use, especially in heroin users.  I do believe drugs come easily in that prison and widely used, so wouldn't be surprised if that was the case while in court.  He probably went their higher than a kite, for the same reason some said here, his is a COWARD!

I most certainly pray the judges take his lack of respect of them and the court system seriously and use that to give him the max possibleI

Van der Sloot to "sincerely confess" to murder in Peru
11:24 a.m. CST, January 6, 2012

 ::snipping2::

On the first day of his trial in Lima, he told the court he should not be charged with aggravating circumstances of the murder that could lengthen his sentence.

Under Peruvian law, a prison term for a "sincere confession" to a murder is normally much shorter than one for an outright guilty plea. Prosecutors have said Van der Sloot robbed and killed Flores before fleeing the scene of a crime toChile.

If Van der Sloot formally enters a "sincere confession" to the judges on Wednesday, the trial would quickly enter a sentencing phase and he could spend less than a decade behind bars.

His defense lawyer had said earlier on Friday Van der Sloot would plead guilty.

Van der Sloot's plea strategy prompted the panel of three judges to suspend the trial, which started on Friday, until Wednesday, when his defense team will provide a detailed response to charges presented by prosecutors.

The defense has complained that the panel of three judges is made up exclusively of women and might be biased against him.

Van der Sloot smiled nervously as the trial opened, at times closed his eyes, snoozed or yawned, and stumbled over his own words in Spanish as he told the judges of his plea plans.

Once again the Sloot devil-spawn shows what he's made of - or how little he's made of?

Could it be if Joran van der Sloot convinces the court to apply the "simple" murder charge which translates into 8 - 20 years in prison the implication will be that with "reduction credits" Joran would be eligible to be transferred to the Netherlands to serve his sentence?

1.  30 years = 10 years

2.  8 - 20 years = 3+ years

Joran van der Sloot hints he'll plead guilty
updated 8 minutes ago

LIMA, Peru — Joran van der Sloot appears ready to accept responsibility for the killing of a Peruvian woman five years to the day after the disappearance in Aruba of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway, for which he remains the prime suspect.

The Dutch citizen sought and received more time to decide how to plead as his trial opened Friday in the May 30, 2010, murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, whom he met at a Lima casino.

He said he was inclined to confess but doesn't accept the aggravated murder charges the prosecution seeks.

The presiding magistrate of the three-judge panel, Victoria Montoya, said the trial would resume Jan. 11.

When asked moments earlier by Montoya to enter a plea, Van der Sloot answered in Spanish:

"I want to give a sincere confession but I don't agree with all the aggravating factors the prosecutor is putting on me. Can I have more time to think about this?"

Page 219: I have to make difficult choices every day.  I have to make a conscious decision every morning when I wake up not to be bitter, not to live in resentment and let anger control me.  It's not easy.  I ask God to help me.

Once again the Sloot devil-spawn shows what he's made of - or how little he's made of?

Anita must be soooo proud that he is keeping up the family tradition of absolutely no accountability for any of the horrors they commit. Makes me physically ill to even hear any of them speak.

Ditto, Nonesy! (Great to see you, BTW!)

It's very different this time, isn't it? No Papa running interference, no Mama petting him as he is released.............. no release period!

I hope all of Aruba is watching and I hope the entire world is reminded that Natalee never received justice because Aruba protected this "Golden Boy".  Stephany is dead because of that island and his family.
