Interviews of Baby Lisa’s young brothers on hold

Today’s planned interviews of Lisa Irwin’s two brothers has been postponed.

It may never happen now, because the case took a bizarre turn late Thursday as two attorneys for the family appeared to be in open conflict.

Kansas City attorney Cyndy Short said she had heard reports that New York lawyer Joe Tacopina had fired her from the case.

“He’s not in a position to fire anyone,” Short told The Star. “I work for the client, not him.”

Police told The Star’s reporting partner, KCTV-5, that Tacopina indicated the much-anticipated interviews with the brothers might happen next week.

Tacopina declined comment to The Star.

But Short said that if she has her way, the interviews with the brothers, ages 8 and 5, would likely never happen — for the sake of the boys and the case. The brothers were interviewed earlier, and she’s worried about additional trauma to them.

“I’ve done research and see more potential for harm than good with the interview,” Short said late Thursday. “It won’t happen tomorrow and maybe never.”

But if it does happen, the interviewer would face special challenges with subjects so young.

“You have to be very careful about the questions you ask and the words you use,” said Erin Miller Weiss, a social worker and forensic interviewer who is not involved in the Irwin case.

Like in Elizabeth Smarts case, her sister had info that cracked the case.

i remember someone saying if DB harmed lisa the child would be within
3-5 mile of home,i looked at some pks awhile back,and this pk is 3m W
of home and a fairly,easy route

This is not right! How can they cancel at the last minute. O.K. Can the Bio dad step into this.
Does the one bio dad have the right to step into this. I know that he pays for health care,
but does he also pay support. I can't help but think that bio dad and Armed forces can't help
step into this. Can they say she lost one child on her watch and the bio dad does not want to
lose another.

Lisa's siblings were to be interviewed about her disappearance on Friday. The interview was abruptly cancelled by the Irwin's New York attorney, Joe Tacopina, on Thursday night.

These parents have no intention of finding their child. 

I am furious with these people.

I have GMA on in the background.  I'm trying to find a link, but I heard something about a woman who received a call from one of the missing phones.  I'm pretty sure that's what I heard.  I'm trying to find the video of that segment.  I hope this isn't old news.

ABC News reported on Friday morning that Short was forced off the case overnight. No other details were released.
