Okay, so tomorrow is Thanksgiving... a day to give Thanks.... What are you thankful for????

I am thankful for CC, for monkey friends, my family (most of them)  my health, and for the 14 years I had with my Josef.

Glad I have all but missing Josef right now.

His stocking is in the closet, but this year I can't put it out.

I'm thankful for my sisters (even when they aggravate the "H" out of me)for all my fur babies past and present (they have all taught me something)another year of health and the ability to still kick butt when needed. Special thanks for the prayers and kindness of all the monkeys. an angelic monkey

Do you think you might want to hang his stocking in his memory this year?

Quoting myself here, after giving my last post some thought.  It just depends on how you feel.  If it feels "right" to hang his stocking that's okay.  If it makes it harder, then I wouldn't.  Maybe there is something you could do in his memory?  Maybe you could find a special ornament to be  hung each year.  The stocking may just be too hard.

Muffy - I like the idea of JSM putting out an ornament for Joe daddy each year.

With that idea...

I am so thankful that I have my Dad with us this Thanksgiving.  It has been a tough past month but he is making progress each day and celebrates another Thanksgiving tomorrow.

As for the ornaments, every year at Christmas, he sends his grandkids a Christmas ornament before the holidays for them to take with them on their journey thru life.  When the grandkids marry or leave home to be on their own, they take their ornaments with them.  So my 26 year old who is married, has taken her 26 ornaments that he has "autographed" and she and her hubs put it on their tree.  My other two kids ornaments are still hanging on my tree waiting for them to be out on their own.  does that make sense - ha - been along day!!

Happy thanksgiving to the monks - I love coming here to chat - you all seem to be beautiful and blessed.

PS - So the hubs made reservations at the kennel for the holiday weekend for Cad and Chubs.  I drove there tonight to drop them off and somehow he "thought" he had reservations and he did NOT.  The kennel is full - and they know The Criminal VERY well but there was no room in the inn.

Uh - Hubs is trying to find a friend who will let them in and out at our house for two days.  It takes a special person to deal with the Criminal - we will figure it out - but I can promise I will be making the reservations from here on out.

Cadi..what a sweet story about your dad giving the kids ornaments...special

I have a 'criminal' that will only be boarded by 1 place because of his old man temperament..other places probably won't take him due to his age and his crankiness...very few special people could come in our house to let him in and out so we have to board him..I make sure that I make the ressies...you will be smart to do that like you said in the future lol..

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving..

we are heading to the lake of the Ozarks on Friday and taking the criminal with us..which isn't pleasant either cause he is a terrible traveler...sigh...

JSM

2 different kind of treats..apple and peppermint.

You youngsters need things..when you get to my age it's just more stuff. Rather than give each other more "stuff" that's not needed we give to a charity that needs more "stuff". We rotate charities yearly with each of us selecting a favorite for their turn and none of us end up with excess "stuff".

I like your thinking 4 donks.  Treats for the animals, and giving to charity.  I've gotten to the point I don't need more "stuff" either.  I've seen too many examples of people feeling under pressure to buy a gift for the sake of giving a gift because it's expected.  And I've seen too many people go into debt over the holidays buying gifts.  It's just become so commercial.  Yep, I like your way of doing 4donks.
This year, everyone at hubby's office started giving to the Food Pantry for birthdays.  They are trying to decide where to give for Christmas.  It makes so much more sense.  Help those that need help.
What a wonderful idea Kittymom!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving..for the first time hubs and I are putting up the Christmas decorations tomorrow..we usually don't put anything up until about 10 days before Christmas and we take it down either Christmas night or the next day....get the house back in order..but we have so much going on that it is best to do it tomorrow to make sure it gets done...

Have fun!
