Belated birthday wishes to all. 

Congrats on the passage of your first year JSM and CC!  Hope next year you'll make a journey back to Cocoa Beach to celebrate your 2nd year.

Yay!  JSM is go89ing to have a dancing/skating partner!   

  Hi Can!!! You have been missed. Hope you are not getting any snow up there yet.

  Someday I will have an ice dancing partner, although my coach will want us to do pairs (she was a pairs skater and hates ice dance)  Can't wait to get back to Cocoa Beach, ready to play some golf!!!

Off to my Mom's this morning.  Going to help her wrap pressies and address some cards for her.  Taking lunch and plan to work fast so that we can get out for a bit.  She needs a break from her hubs.  i don't know how she does it at her age and it is wearing her down.  She told me last week that she thinks she will pass before her husband, He is 97- Really bothers me as I fear it is the beginning of defeat.  She has become so frail.

 

Prayers Can for your mom. I hope you get her out a bit today. I hope we can get back to Cocoa Beach too!!

Dear Monkey Friends,

Have any of you had the experience of looking for Assisted Living places for one of your parents?  Things are really not going well with my Mom and it is going to be a fight, much less a financial burden, but I would like to start investigating a little.  Any tips on what to ask - what to look for?

Like I said, without any explanations, it is going to be a struggle, but are there even different levels of Assisted Living? 

Give me strength monks...better yet give my sibs some strength because things are going south in this matter real fast.

PS My Dad is doing very well - he might stay alone tomorrow night - first in five weeks!!

We did that last year at this time - but we had to do the memory care type facility. It is not easy. Go and check out the places you are thinking of and you will find the one that feels "right" to you. We are using Brookdale - they are nation wide and do both memory care and assisted living. They are wonderful. Prayers that you find a place that both of you love.

  Sorry you had to go through that last year TBM. Thank you for giving Caddy good advice.

of course i'm in Canada and the system might be very different.  when i was considering a place for my father i booked appointments for numerous homes and toured each one of them. Fortunately my brother and I were on the same page throughout the ordeal, and during the years my father was in care.
i chose ones in my area so that i could visit as often as possible and selected three in order of preference.
i really have nothing valuable to add.  I think sister's comments were so on.
Fortunately you have a sister in social work involved.

Glad to hear your Dad was able to be on his own last night.

Thoughts of you during these trying times with your parents.

In the end, it was the best thing we could have done. She is happy and well cared for. She can socialize and still have her own space since we got her a private room.

I got rid of my big tree and put up my small one,one box of ornaments and some old lights.
It's probably illegal somewhere to own all the ornaments I have stuck in my closets.Just gonna rotate them from now own.Keep it simple.Hubby was like.

Sister and JSM - I know the heart ache you feel when you lose a pet.  Think how blessed your two pups were to have each of you to take care of their needs and to love them.  Now...go share that love with another pet!!  I know there are two mangy mutts (like Cad) out there that need a good furmommie??  (Just kidding - I know when the time is right for you both - BUT you both have so much to give in the way of love for a pup.)

  Thank you Caddy. My heart is full of hurt, hopefully soon the hole will heal and I can get another dog.

 I was going to go to Big Lots, saw there was a sale on "little trees", but thought I was going to dinner with my family. Turns out I was a day early  So will go tomorrow when I visit the PetLodge and pay more money down on Josef.

Kinda sad, like paying layaway, but not getting the purchase at the end. Oh well, at least I can pay down with no interest and they don't mind what I pay. They are good people there and I miss them almost as I miss my Josef.
