Well I have had an eventful afternoon.  Sitting at the kitchen counter writing thank you notes and a taper candle in a candle stick exploded and caught the counter on fire.  Glass was flying, fire was leaping on Christmas cards, etc.  Tried at first to smother the fire, which did not work and then went for the water.  The counter top is ruined and it was just installed a few months ago.  It has scared the beegees out of me.  One thing I know, all four smoke detectors on this level work very well.  I know I am blessed the fire didn't land on me and I got it under control pretty fast.  The scarf, etc. was burned up as well.  But again, it could have been worse.  Not cheap candles so not sure what cause it to explode.  My nerves are shot and I'm going to bed.

Sick as a dog today

Hubby just got over a mild cold and I woke up and can barely swallow, throat is so sore.

And I have a nasty cough. Hurts to cough.

Stayed in bed as long as I could before my back told me I could no longer lie down.

Think I'll be back in bed shortly.

Oh, Trimm ... pass through my thread today too.

Oh goodness Sister!  I am glad you were not hurt nor burned in the kitchen fire accident!  How scared you must have been??

I wonder if your homeowners insurance will cover the expense of the damage?  It is certainly worth a try to contact your insurance agent.

Thank you for your concern.  Because it is a parsonage, which means I don't own it, I have renters insurance.  The adjuster is coming tomorrow.  But I know I have a $500 deductible.
It could have been so much worse, but I am still shaking . . . headed to bed now for real.

Sister so sorry to hear about your fire. So glad you are not hurt. I can imagine it scared you. I probable would be going to bed too but only after a glass or two  .  Thank the Lord you were in the room when it happened. And that you were able to get it put out quickly.

dog at the shelter was claimed by her owner which is a good thing..I had already named her..Luci...but it is good that she went home with her family..

    Oh no Sister!!! I am so greatful you are okay. Things can be replaced, you are irreplaceable. Your nerves must be racked Sister. You are in my prayers. So sorry the counter top is ruined, but really glad you are okay.

I took three aspirin for my sore throat and feel better!

So I have not gone back to bed yet.

Colds always hit me with a sore throat first, then the head congestion sets in.

Hope your cold is as short-lived as my hubby's was. He worked through it and after 9 days is almost symptom free.
