Mother who knows pain of an unsolved case tirelessly helps other causes

The blue Mustang’s throaty rumble announces her arrival.

But it’s the hand-painted letters covering her car that announce Edith Fine-Duskin’s mission: “Bring Baby Lisa Home.”

“I will find that child,” the 44-year-old Kansas City woman asserts. “When I start something, I don’t stop.”

Fine-Duskin’s nervous energy is apparent in how she moves and talks, often unable to complete one rapid-fire sentence before launching into another one.

Missing child cases in particular draw her to action. Pamela Butler, Kara Kopetsky, Kelsey Smith and Erica Green are among the young victims whose cases she has embraced.

Hello monkeys 

Every morning when I read the news I scroll down to the Nation section hoping to see the words, "Baby Lisa Irwin Found" yet I am disappointed daily.  This case has really saddened me.  What have the parents been doing lately?  They don't appear to be looking for their baby anymore.  Sad.

It seems that the common belief is that Lisa died, and is just simply waiting to be found so this investigation can begin. With Deborah Bradley's own flesh-and-blood saying she is guilty, it doesn't look good at all. Perhaps that is another reason why the woman and her boyfriend lawyered up?

It's only a matter of time until the truth is revealed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An attorney for the family in the Baby Lisa case said he has agreed to a gag order in the custody battle over one of the missing infant’s brothers.

“We stipulated to the gag order as we have no interest in discussing publicly the custody of a minor child," said John Anthony Picerno, representing Baby Lisa’s father.

Family of similar child is caught in baby Lisa nightmare
Since Northland girl vanished, police and strangers have demanded Overland Park parents prove identity of their child.

Shortly after baby Lisa Irwin disappeared in October, Amy noticed other shoppers looking at her and her 10-month-old baby, Lucy, in the supermarket.

“I saw people peering down the aisles at me,” the Overland Park mother said. “But I convinced myself that they were probably just looking for a can of green beans or something.”

Then three older women surrounded her.

“How old is your baby?” they asked. One of them pulled down Lucy’s blanket and lifted the baby’s dress to inspect her legs.

Other shoppers whispered and pointed Amy’s way.

“They think this is baby Lisa,” she realized. The woman was checking Lucy’s leg for the birthmark on Lisa Irwin’s right thigh.

The incident — one of hundreds of potential baby Lisa sightings reported to police — ended with Overland Park officers following Amy home and leaving only after she presented Lucy’s vaccination records and insurance card
