Burned Body Identified as Young Woman
Stylist Found in Front Seat

November 4, 2011

DALLAS - Dallas homicide investigators have identified the body found in a burning car early Friday morning as a young North Texas woman.
Elizabeth Lightfoot, 22, lived in Denton but worked in a north Dallas hair salon, according to her Facebook page.
Dallas firefighters found her body about 2:30 a.m. when they responded to a car fire next to a small strip center in the 16000 block of Preston Road between Arapaho and Keller Springs Roads.
When firefighters doused the flames on the small silver sedan parked partway in a ravine, they discovered her body in the driver's seat.
Lightfoot worked at Salon Republic at 14999 Preston Road, less than two miles from where her body was found. Police are trying to figure out what happened in the hours before she died.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner has not yet determined Lightfoot's cause of death.

Woman Found in Burning Car Identified
Woman identified after body found in car fire

 ::snipping2::
At about 2 a.m. firefighters were called to the back parking lot of a shopping center parking lot along the 16000 block of Preston Road where they found a car on fire near a trash bin.

After dousing the silver Mazda sedan with water, they spotted the woman's body inside in the driver's seat.

The Dallas County medical examiner identified the woman as 22-year-old Elizabeth Lightfoot.
According to investigators, the cold air helped preserve the woman's body,  though the remains were too badly burned for detectives to determine the cause of death in the field.  Homicide detectives are now awaiting the cause of death from the medical examiner.

Investigators are asking that anyone who may have noticed anything unusual at or near that location overnight to call the Dallas Police Homicide Unit at 214-671-3661 or use the iWatchDallas.net app on their smart phone.

Dallas Police: Hairstylist was burned alive inside her own car
November 7, 2011

Dallas, Texas—
Fresh flowers sit at the spot where 22 year old Elizabeth Lightfoot lost her life. They're outside a real estate office in North Dallas.

Around 2:30 a.m. last Friday, Lightfoot's car was found in a ravine behind the business on fire.  When the flames were put out... her body was found in the driver's seat.

"We believe someone intentionally set the car on fire with her in it while she was still alive", said Senior Corporal Kevin Janse with the Dallas Police Department.

Janse says Lightfoot died from inhaling carbon monoxide fumes from the fire.

"Why she couldn't get out of the vehicle, we don't know if she was a unconscious or what but we feel someone intentionally set that car on fire which ultimately caused her death", he said.

Lightfoot worked at "Salon Republic" as a stylist. The salon is about a mile from where her body was found.

Just hours before her murder, she had been out with friends to a restaurant.

But at the end of the night she left alone. Police are trying to determine if she met up with some or if she was targeted.
 ::snipping2::
Police are also trying to track down surveillance video to see if they can retrace Lightfoot’s movements leading up to her death.

Woman Was Alive When Car Set Ablaze: Police
Woman had been out with friends earlier in the evening

November 7, 2011

The Dallas Police Department said Elizabeth Lightfoot was alive when someone set fire to her car late last week.

"To clarify the cause of death of Miss Lightfoot, she died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to the fire that was intentionally set by the suspect," said Kevin Janse, with the Dallas Police Department.

The 22-year-old woman's body was found in the driver's seat of her car after firefighters put out the car fire at about 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Lightfoot, a hairstylist at Salon Republic, had been out with friends at a restaurant earlier in the evening. At about midnight, they all left to go home.

All but Lightfoot made it home safely.

Cops: Hairstylist Last Seen at Supermarket
November 10, 2011

DALLAS - Dallas detectives have released a more recent photo of a murder victim with the hope that someone might recall seeing her on the night that she died.

Benefit to Honor Murdered Hairstylist

November 13, 2011

Addison - Elizabeth Lightfoot loved Hello Kitty and the color pink.  And Sunday, friends decorated the Firefly Asian Grill in Addison with both to honor the hairstylist who was found dead in her burning car on November 4th.
 ::snipping2::
The donation boxes were wrapped in Hello Kitty paper, and surrounded by pictures of the hairstylist.

The money will go to her family who started the Elizabeth Lightfoot Memorial Scholarship Fund.

And there is a $10,000 reward being offered in the case.

Lightfoot was last seen about midnight on November 4th.  She had just left friends at a restaurant and surveillance video shows she stopped at a Tom Thumb grocery store.  She was by herself, and left alone.

Two hours later, her car was found burning behind a North Dallas shopping center.

"She had no enemies, no grievances with anybody," says Moore.

Police admit, they have few leads. They are trying to rebuild her phone, which was damaged in the fire.

Is this a legitimate news source? If so, this is a must read article. I looked at her personal facebook page and you can see her photos. One photo with her and the boyfriend in a webcam shot, the boyfriend makes a horrible comment (I can post a link to the exact photo if someone wants to see it) to someone named "ethan". I can't post it because it is really crude. Anywho, in the following article in the comments, someone says that Elizabeth's brother died only 6 yrs ago. Also, she was coming from a burger place (I guess after drinking) on her way home. The link has additional photos. The boyfriends name is "Tuan "RudeBoy" Le".  I gather he was not at this event when she went out with the girls. I do not like what I have seen so far of "said boyfriend"......jmo

Investigators believe Elizabeth Lightfoot was murdered, but are trying to determine exactly how as her body had been too burned to immediately tell.

Dallas firefighters discovered her charred remains at around 2.30am on Friday morning after putting out a blaze engulfing the silver Sedan, which was parked nose-first in a small ravine beside a strip shopping centre in the north of the city.

 ::snipping2::
Her boss at Salon D said she had been out to a restaurant on Thursday evening with some female colleagues from her former hairdressers the night of her death.

'They went to a restaurant down the street from here, which they normally do,' Arden Keshishian told NBC 5 News. 'It wasn't anything crazy - they left at 12, and everyone made it home but her.'

'It's a shame, it's a waste, a life cut so short,' he told Fox News. 'She was very outgoing, very talented stylist, she was an angel. I just can't believe somebody would do that.'

Frustrating search continues for hairstylist's killer
November 14, 2011

ADDISON, Texas — Friends of a young hairstylist who was found murdered earlier this month are hoping someone will come forward to help solve the crime.

"I've been devastated for a week," said Kenn Moore, 35. He considered Elizabeth Lightfoot his best friend.

They cut hair together for years at the same Dallas salon and shared an apartment until recently.

"I want vindication for Elizabeth Lightfoot," he said. "I want somebody to pay for what they did to her and what they took from us."

Moore helped organize a fundraiser Sunday night at Firefly Asian Grill in Addison, where Lightfoot was a regular.
 ::snipping2::
Lightfoot, 22, was found dead in the driver's seat of her charred car early November 3. The silver Mazda had been pushed into a ravine behind a strip shopping center in the 16000 block of Preston Road.

Police said Lightfoot died of carbon monoxide poisoning after someone ignited the vehicle.

"We believe someone intentionally set the car on fire with her in it while she was still alive," Dallas police spokesman Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse said earlier this week.

Police concede this is a complex case. Investigators have been re-tracing Lightfoot’s movements on the night she died.

After spending time with friends at a restaurant, police said the hairstylist was last spotted at midnight at a Tom Thumb grocery store at the corner of Preston and Belt Line roads in North Dallas.

Firefighters found her body two hours later, about a mile away.

A $10,000 reward is being offered, but ten days after the murder, police have made no arrests; nor have they announced any suspects.

Friends said Lightfoot loved cutting hair and loved life. She studied at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy.

Elizabeth Lightfoot (1989 - 2011)

Lightfoot, Elizabeth Anne Elizabeth Anne Lightfoot was born in Richardson, TX on February 27, 1989 and left this world on Nov-ember 4, 2011. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend to all whose lives she touched. Elizabeth attended Springridge Elementary in Richardson and graduated from Van High School in 2006. She studied fashion design at Henderson State University and worked with persons with developmental disabilities in Arka-delphia, Arkansas. To fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a hair stylist, she graduated from the Toni & Guy Academy in January 2010. Elizabeth was a beautiful young woman, both inside and on the outside. Anyone who was privileged to be with her as a friend, client or family member was uplifted and happier because of her loving and kind spirit. Elizabeth loved God, embraced beauty and lived life to the fullest. She was totally fearless in life and challenged others to live with less fear and more freedom. Elizabeth was non-judgmental of others and cared for individuals less fortunate than herself. She will be remembered for her love of "Hello Kitty", Truman (her fat cat), her new puppies, Etta James, and everything pink and girly. She was also known for her talent as a hair stylist and make-up artist. Although she loved the outdoors and nature, she also loved to paint her fingernails a different color every day. She was full of surprises, as well as spontaneity, and you would never know what color her hair was going to be from one week to the next. Elizabeth is survived by her parents, David Lightfoot, Barbara Arie Lightfoot, her brother and his fiancé Michael and Tamara Guzman, grandmother Varwood Arie, grandparents Marshall and Kathryn Lightfoot, Aunt Elizabeth Putthoff, Aunt Katie Lightfoot, Aunt Emily and Jeff Piroga, Uncle Mark and Cynthia Lightfoot, Uncle Rob and Annie Riley, Aunt Alyson and Mark Cobb, and Aunt Cindy and Claiborne Self, and numerous cousins. A private family service will be followed by a memorial tribute for Elizabeth at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 2-4pm. This will be a time for her friends to say goodbye. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Elizabeth Lightfoot Memorial Scholarship Fund at 422 Mimosa Dr., Denton, TX 76201 (Northstar Bank), the SPCA www.spca.org, or Best Friends Animal Society www.bestfriends.org.
