It's only right this employee was fired imo.  They had absolutely no business going into Mr. Paterno's (or anyone else's) files without permission.  JMHO

Hershey Medical Center employee fired after breach of Joe Paterno's records
December 7, 2011

A Penn State Hershey Medical Center employee has been fired for allegedly accessing Joe Paterno’s billing and registration records without permission, according to a source with direct knowledge of the breach.
It happened the day after the 84-year-old was fired from his longtime Penn State head football coaching job, but two days before his family says he was diagnosed with cancer.

The breach was caught because Paterno’s records were put under an audit to prevent leaks on Nov. 8. The unauthorized access happened Nov. 10.
Megan Manlove, the Hershey public affairs manager, said any unauthorized access of patient information -- access that isn’t for treatment, payment or operations -- is considered a HIPAA violation and is reported to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Hall Of Fame Running Back Resigned Last Month After Pressure From Mayor

PITTSBURGH -- Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris has been reinstated as chairman of the Pittsburgh Promise .
Harris resigned as chairman last month -- but remained a board member -- after Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said he was "the wrong man to represent the Pittsburgh Promise and the ideals it embodies" due to his outspoken support for ousted Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

I wonder if any more victims will come forward, and if so, does it mean Jerry goes back to jail? I believe if they do, all of the bail stuff has to be refigured.   It's just difficult for me to believe the first time he had a $100,000.00 unsecured bond, and the second time only $250,000.00, considering there are now 10 victims and 52 counts.  As I've said before, when I compare this what some others are facing, such as Louis "Skip" ReVille etc., Jerry is getting special treatment imo.  His bail should be more like $1 million dollars and etc.  JMHO

Pa. open-records office upholds Penn State refusal to release records of 1998 Sandusky inquiry
December 8, 2011

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Penn State University has won a round in its refusal to release records of a campus police investigation involving a former assistant football coach accused of molesting boys.

The state Office of Open Records ruled Thursday that Penn State doesn’t have to release any records of the 1998 inquiry involving Jerry Sandusky.

The agency ruled on a request filed by ESPN after the university had sought to withhold records. It says the university isn’t a state agency and thus is exempt from most provisions of the state Right-to-Know Law. It says the university is required to release only certain financial records.

Big Ten to review Penn State scandal
By Brian Bennett
ESPN.com
Updated December 8, 2011

Big Ten leaders say they want to conduct their own review into the Penn State sex abuse scandal and that the conference could impose its own sanctions on the school if it doesn't like what it finds.

The league's Council of Presidents/Chancellors said Thursday that it wants Big Ten lawyers involved in any investigation into "matters of institutional control, ethical conduct and/or other compliance-related issues" at Penn State.
The council also wants to review the "fundamental issues and systems" at all its member schools and develop a "stress test" to make sure this type of situation doesn't occur again.

Big Ten may punish Penn State for actions in Sandusky scandal
By Eric Smith, USA TODAY
December 8, 2011

The Big Ten is monitoring the fallout from the sex abuse charges involving former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky and could sanction school for its behavior.
In a statement released Thursday, the conference said it was concerned about the actions of the school. Sandusky was accused of sexual abuse in 1998 and 2002 before his arrest last month.

Athletics director Tim Curley and senior vice president Gary Schultz have been charged with perjury and failure to report a crime. Football coach Joe Paterno and school president Graham Spanier were fired.

"While it is premature to reach any conclusions regarding civil or criminal liability arising out of these events, there does appear to be sufficient information to raise significant concerns as to whether a concentration of power in a single individual or program may have threatened or eroded institutional control of intercollegiate athletics at Penn State," the statement said.

The statement later added that the Big Ten will request Penn State and the NCAA to allow its counsel be involved in the investigation and reviews of the case.

When complete, the Big Ten could then take action against the school.

Jerry Sandusky posts $250K bail
December 8, 2011

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky emerged from an overnight jail stay Thursday after posting bail on new charges that he sexually abused two additional boys, including one who said Sandusky assaulted him in his basement while his cries for help went unheeded.
Sandusky was driven from a Pennsylvania county jail to his home in the back seat of a grey sedan in the middle of a three-car convoy. The former coach kept his gaze straight ahead, clutching a manila envelope, during the short car ride.

He then went inside without answering questions from reporters.

Sandusky was arrested Wednesday and charged with 12 new child sex abuse counts involving two new alleged victims. In all, he faces more than 50 charges. He has maintained his innocence.

Sandusky secured his release using $200,000 in real estate holdings and a $50,000 certified check provided by his wife, Dorothy, according to online court records. He will be subject to electronic monitoring under the terms of his release.

Warden Edward DeSabato said Sandusky was quiet and cooperative during his stay at the jail, where he was one of the roughly 250 being held. Sandusky had his own cell for the night, a standard procedure for new inmates, DeSabato said.

OMG!     Does the woman have a brain????  Does she not see how this makes her look?  Frankly, I think she should face charges for not protecting those poor kids from her monster hubby.  How many times did she see him escort those poor boys down to the basement knowing something just wasnt right?  How many meals did she fix that he then took down to the basement.  I mean, the only other explanation is that SHE insisted the children be kept in the basement. hmmm...maybe she didn't want the 'underprivileged' soiling her nice home.   scratch

As the mother of six children, I have been devastated by these accusations. I am also angry about these false accusations that such a terrible incident ever occurred in my home. No child who ever visited our home was ever forced to stay in our basement and fed there. All the kids who visited us ate with us and our kids and other guests when they were at our home

So, I guess this will turn into the Sandusky family saying one thing and ?? (I've lost count how many little boys) saying something else.  Bet Dottie says she never heard one of those little guys screaming for help either.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/09/accuser-raises-questions-about-sanduskys-wife/
Accuser raises questions about Sandusky's wife
December 9, 2011

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. –  Grand jury reports alleging child sex abuse by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky are also raising questions about whether his wife knew about his alleged pattern of preying on boys — or how she couldn't have known.

One accuser told the grand jury that Dottie Sandusky was home when he screamed for help while her husband sexually assaulted him in a basement bedroom.

But Dottie Sandusky broke more than a month of silence Thursday, calling the accusations against her husband false and declaring that she continues to believe that he is innocent.

Lawyers not involved in the case say that evidence made public so far does not prove Dottie Sandusky did anything wrong — for instance, there's no proof she heard the alleged screams — although prosecutors almost certainly are interested in talking to her.

"Certainly if the activities are alleged to have occurred in the home, yeah, the prosecutors are going to figure, 'Jeez, you were in the house at the time this was going on? You must have known something,'" said Bruce Antkowiak, a former federal prosecutor in Pittsburgh and a law professor at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. "I would certainly think there would be interest in talking to her."

 ::snipping2::
It is rare that a family member testifies against another in court, Antkowiak and others say. And while many states protect spouses from having to testify against each other, that provision is not in force in Pennsylvania in cases of violence or sex abuse against children.

Prosecutors could ask a court to compel Dottie Sandusky to testify against her husband. But lawyers say that it's unlikely that they would do so, since she's unlikely to incriminate him, and in any case prosecutors may feel that they don't need her testimony to prove their case.

It is also possible, others say, that all of this may have played out in secret: She may already have asked for a grant of immunity or she may have already testified before the grand jury.

A spokesman for the state attorney general's office, which is prosecuting Sandusky, declined to comment.

Still, Dottie Sandusky almost certainly is facing lawsuits that lawyers say are likely to bankrupt her if she doesn't seek a divorce.

"Make no mistake, Dottie has a financial interest in this because once these criminal cases are decided, there will be civil suits by each and every victim, and those victims' suits will go after all the (Sanduskys') assets," said Susan Moss, a New York City-based family and divorce lawyer.

Jerry Sanduksy's wife bails him out of jail, calls new sex allegations "absolutely untrue"
December 9, 2011

 ::snipping2::
Dottie Sandusky, 68, has not been accused of any crimes, but in Pennsylvania - which allows spouses to testify against one another in cases of violence or sex abuse against children - she could be called to testify against her husband. Experts who spoke with the Associated Press said that prosecutors in this case would likely want to speak with her.

"Certainly if the activities are alleged to have occurred in the home, yeah, the prosecutors are going to figure, `Jeez, you were in the house at the time this was going on? You must have known something,"' said Bruce Antkowiak, a former federal prosecutor in Pittsburgh and a law professor at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. "I would certainly think there would be interest in talking to her."
 ::snipping2::
So far, one alleged victim has filed a lawsuit against Sandusky and legal experts told the AP that Dottie Sandusky couple face other lawsuits in the future. Lawyers say they are likely to bankrupt her if she doesn't seek a divorce.

"Make no mistake, Dottie has a financial interest in this because once these criminal cases are decided, there will be civil suits by each and every victim, and those victims' suits will go after all the (Sanduskys') assets," said Susan Moss, a New York City-based family and divorce lawyer.

Joseph T. Musson, a civil litigation lawyer who read Wednesday's grand jury report, told the AP that he saw nothing in the victim's statement that on its face would give rise to criminal or civil liability for Dottie Sandusky.

But, Musso said, "ordinary people will likely ask themselves, `How does she not know what's going on?"'

Juniata: Reason for Sandusky's failed background check unknown
December 9, 2011

HUNTINGDON - The reason former Penn State University assistant coach and accused child rapist Jerry Sandusky failed a background check at Juniata College last year when applying for a volunteer position was not known at the time, a college spokesman said Thursday.

The college's human resources department sent a letter dated June 3, 2010, to Sandusky's home after he applied for a non-paid volunteer coach position in May, Juniata spokesman John Wall said.

"This letter is to notify you that we are unable to make you an offer of volunteer employment based on our hiring criteria. Justifacts Credential Verification Inc. ran a background check and discovered that Central Mountain High School, where you worked as a Volunteer Football Coach, is undergoing an investigation that prevents you from being eligible to work for their school. You failed to include this information on the background verification form that you filled out at the time of your interview," according to an excerpt of the letter Wall provided to the Mirror.
 ::snipping2::
Former head football coach Carmen Felus approached the college about the position for Sandusky, Wall said. Attempts to contact Felus, who is now an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin, for comment were unsuccessful.

A formal offer was never made to Sandusky because of what the background check revealed, said former Athletic Director Larry Bock, who is the women's volleyball coach at the U.S. Naval Academy.

The college does in-depth checks on all new full and part-time employees, including students working at camps offered through the college, Wall said. Student workers in offices on campus do not, however. A background check is performed on a final candidate for a position before that person is offered the job.

BBM, that's what a lot of us have been wondering, kittymom.

Snipped from article kittymom posted:

::snipping2::Whether UVA knew about any Sandusky's transgressions is still yet to be determined, though if it didn't, then such would point to either a poor background check done by the folks in Charlottesville or a determined cover-up by Sandusky's superiors in Happy Valley.

Regardless, these latest revelations only serve to deepen the rabbit hole of this sickening scandal that was brought to light just last week. Who or what else pops up—whether it be the University of Maryland, where Sandusky interviewed for the head coaching position in 1991, or Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell and University of Miami boss Al Golden, both of whom were slated to join Sandusky's staff in Charlottesville—remains to be seen.

At this point, the only certainty is that the Sandusky scandal is more far-reaching than anyone yet knows, and it will only grow more tragic as new details emerge.

These tweets are almost a day old now, but I wanted to post them for reference. In one of the tweets, Peter notes Jerry isn't even allowed out to walk the dog.  I'm wondering if that has something to do with the proximity of the Sandusky's living so closely to an elementary school?  I still believe Jerry Sandusky's bail was light the first and the second time.  JMHO

Were there clues in Jerry Sandusky's past? [/b

I'll bet this has already been posted but it is still interesting to see all the opportunities JS had through the years to be around kids.  It looks like every decision he made involved how close it would put him t okids.

Don't  worry about posting something you think may have been posted before, kittymom.  Some may not have seen it the first time around, or it may not have been posted and we would have missed it if you hadn't posted it.  Sometimes different articles will have different info or one will have a snippet of info another won't have, so it's good to get it posted in here before they get lost imo. As far as the clues in Jerry's past, gee, I suppose one would have to sit down and look at it and there might be more of a pattern then first imagined.  I've read that people that prey on children can spend years planning and grooming them for their use and that they can be very cunning.
