WOW! This artical and the allegations brought forth by the "victims" in the case against Scumdusky, makes your heart break. The fact so many children get sexualy abused and NEVER tell, because of fear, shame, embarrasment, feelings of not being believed, or not wanting to feel they would get thierselves or offender in trouble, or make a family break apart.( considering how a child may feel) To have to experience something like this must be so difficult. For the rest of your life, you will have to constantly have to deal with emonitional memories. If this doesn't tug at your heart your not human... Just Saying...

With all the budget cuts the neo-cons want, this silver lining will evaporate faster than a*****in a hurricane. There won't be any federal or state funding for something like this or any other "social" services. We are going to roll back the clock to 1912.

No amount of money could ever be enough compensation for the violation of these young victims. I certainly hope they all file civil suits and send a message to all the pedaphiles still out there. These young men suffered way too much not to get justice.

Sandusky's solid reputation and high standing in the community is no longer. No defense for such horrible acts on young boys. We'll never know how many others were victimized and never came forward. It's such an ugly mark on Penn State and all the adults who knew and never said or did anything to stop it.

What will happen to Jerry Sandusky, and is there a larger connection to make when it comes to child abuse?

Is this true for this case: "The prosecution gets the last word."

I thought in PA the prosecution sums first and then the defense. We will know soon enough, but is there an expert out there who can give us the advance program -- McGettigan first and then Amendola, or the other way around?

Under the Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Prosecution begins the trial with an opening statement. They also close the trial with a closing argument. See Pa.R.Crim.P. 604(b)

RJW, you brought up a good question. Apparently in PA. they do some things (that I don't agree with nor understand-such as NOT allowing the state to call an expert psychiatrist/psychologist to explain the symptoms and behavior of children who have been abused/violated.) differently than other states.
*
Back to your question: In many states the prosecution will give their closing and then the defense will give their closing. However, the prosecution may then, if need be, give their final rebuttal to this. Now, how PA. handles this is the question. I sure hope it isn't along the lines of their other law of not allowing expert psychiatrists/psychologists.....

The following is from my own personal empirical observation from being a juror on an attempted murder case in Harrisburg. The Sandusky jury will probably follow a similar course of action.

Once the jurors gather in the jurors room, they will exchange their own personal emotional roller coast ride they experienced during the Jerry Sandusky case. Then the jury will decide who the jury foremen will be. Usually after the jury foremen is agreed upon, they will start by polling the jury of whether Sandusky is guilty or not guilty. This poll is used as a starting point for arguing the case so the jury can reach a decision.

Hmm. Credibility??? Sandusky's mouthpiece pontificating in his opening in case in chief that the jurors would hear from his client. Hmm. Sandusky NOT taking the stand to look the jurors in the eyes and strongly and unequivocally say that he didn't do any of these heinous atrocities???

The big question on the Today Show ... "Why did Matt not testify as a prosecution witness?"  If NBC "sources" are reliable ... the testimony of the Sandusky's adopted son  would have gone a long way towards validating the testimonies of the victims.  It could have been a "Perry Mason" moment.

Sandusky's Adopted Son Almost Testified Against Dad: NBC News

Sources tell NBC News that Sandusky's son was in the courthouse Wednesday ready to rebut his father's testimony if Jerry Sandusky had testified

By Dan Stamm |  Thursday, Jun 21, 2012  |  Updated 9:56 AM EDT

The threat of the adopted son of Jerry Sandusky possibly delivering potentially damaging testimony possibly prevented his father from taking the stand in his own defense against charges of child-sex abuse, sources tell NBC News.

In a report on the Today Show Thursday morning, Michael Isikoff reported that Matt Sandusky, one of six of Jerry and Dottie Sandusky’s adopted children, was caught by an NBC camera entering the Centre County courthouse Wednesday as rumors swirled that Jerry Sandusky was going to take the stand to explain the so-called love letters and the Bob Costas' interview on Rock Center With Brian Williams.

But, according to NBC News sources, Matt Sandusky contacted prosecutors after the trial began and told them he would provide testimony about some of the events he allegedly witnessed his 68-year-old father commit.
