ORMAN, Okla. -- A University of Oklahoma professor is arrested on sexual abuse allegations. Dwain Pellebon, 54, who worked for the School of Social Work at OU was arrested on Friday. Officials are releasing few details about what lead up to the investigation.

"We can say there is one alleged victim and we are working to determine if there are any additional victims," Tom Easley said, Norman Police Department.

Pellebon was arrested on two complaints of rape in the first degree and one complaint of lewd acts with a child
under the age of 16.

OU officials released this statement about the arrest:

"OU officials acted swiftly to suspend Mr. Pellebon from any contact with students and from use of any University facilities. OU is cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation. In accordance with University procedure, he was immediately placed on administrative leave with pay until more of the facts of the investigation are known at which time it could be changed to without pay."

Officials say Mr. Pellebon has been on out on the Family and Medical Leave Act since Oct. 5.

Affidavits filed in the case say a 13-year-old girl said she saw Pellebon abuse another 13-year-old girl. Also, a mentally disabled 15-year-old girl told investigators Pellebon had raped her at least twice.

The affidavits do not say where the alleged abuse occurred.

Pellebon is on paid leave from the university.

Here we have another person saying they didn't sexually abuse children, but instead were affectionate, liked to hug and etc. AND was involved in programs with access to children.    Reminds me so much of what I've read about Jerry Sandusky.

Professor who helped youths in foster care systems charged with rape and sexual child abuse
By Rachael Quigley
December 21, 2011

Paid leave: Dwain Pellebon, 54, of the University of Oklahoma, has been arrested for allegedly committing rape twice and lewd acts on a child under 16 years old

A social work professor accused of rape and performing other lewd acts on teenage girls has been formally charged.

Dwain Pellebon, 54, of the University of Oklahoma, was arraigned on two counts of rape, two counts of lewd acts with a child and two counts of sexual child abuse.

The professor was arrested last week after authorities received allegations from a child welfare worker he had sexually abused two teenage girls in the past two years. He denies all the allegations.

 ::snipping2::
The social work professor admitted taking off the girl's clothes but said he did it to apply cream to her 'chest, back and butt' while they were alone in his bedroom.
NewsOk reported that though Pellebon denies any sexual contact, he described himself to investigators as an 'affectionate, sensual man who liked to hug, kiss, cuddle and stroke young girls that he felt close to'.

In 2001, Pellebon was investigated by DHS under similar circumstances but no charges were filed because the alleged victim — the daughter of a former Norman police officer — failed to give investigators a statement, documents show.

He has been placed on administrative leave without pay and is free on $75,000 bail.

The 54-year-old was a director on a local board for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which helps children in juvenile court and foster systems.

He took a leave of absence from the board earlier this year, a Cleveland County CASA spokesman told The Oklahoman.

Pellebon teaches a course on human sexuality that looks at ‘sexual behaviour, gender differences and sexual values’, reported CNN.

Court records: Suspended professor implicated in previous incidents
Items taken in search include computers, underwear

By Chris Davis
December 20, 2011

University of Oklahoma officials say Professor Dwain Pellebon's suspension without pay, initiated Friday, means he does not have use of any university facilities, nor does he have access to students.
 ::snipping2::
Those court documents also contain affidavits that show Pellebon, who is a social work professor, had plenty of photos of children, with names and other information about the kids, in both his home and office. Police searched both his residence on Dec. 9, and his office Dec. 12. They took computers and various digital storage devices. In one court document police said they believed they might find child pornography on the devices or evidence related to the rape or lewd acts charges.

Another item taken was a pair of torn girls black underwear.

An incident ten years prior related in one of the documents also stated Pellebon's ex-wife stated she had discovered child pornography on his computer after he was accused by a fellow church member of having inappropriate contact with his (the church member's) 11-year-old daughter.

It was also in 2001 where Pellebon was named as a suspect in a DHS investigation involving child sex abuse. DHS sealed the file and there was no investigation after the girl invovled gave no testimony.

In Pellebon's interviews with police, they say he admitted to having viewed child pornography once, but not downloading it. A detective asking for a search warrant said in one of the documents that Pellebon admitted to having the girls in his home and having a mentally challenged 15-year-old girl strip and lay in his bed so that he could look at her.

The same girl described incidents constituting rape by Pellebon to authorities. The incidents took place in his bed and his shower, say documents.

Another incident involved Pellebon admitting he "treated" the girl with an ointment he applied to he chest and buttocks. He said the girl had a skin condition.

This is the prof's blog from 2009.  I'm not going to save it as I'm running out of harddrive space.  Maybe someone else will.

Michael Jackson: Reflections on the man in the mirror
Death and tragedy are difficult to comprehend and give meaning. Yesterday’s news was stunning and today, as I listened to “Man in the mirror” on the radio, tears emerged as I began to process what he meant to me as a person; his great accomplishments; and, his human frailties.

The Jackson Five, featuring Michael Jackson, became famous when I was 12 years old. I grew up in a blue-collar Black and Creole neighborhood of New Orleans where music was a centerpiece of culture and often a source of pride and identity for Black Americans (particularly after the civil rights explosion). The Jackson Five’s music made me sing, dance, and even helped form my thinking about preadolescent love with songs such as, “I want you back,” “Who’s loving you,” “The love you save,” and “ABC.” In my imagination Michael Jackson and I grew older together sharing a synchronization of his music and my coming of age. A feeling that I suppose those Elvis fans, his age as they followed his career, could easily identify.

I recall the controversy of his leaving “our” beloved Jackson Five. “It was wrong, don’t break-up such a cool group!” Well, it ended up being a brilliant decision. Going solo moved Michael Jackson from the soul genre into a mixture of pop, R&B, rock genres that launched him into an international star. He broke racial stigmas, cultural barriers, music limits, and performance styles in the same way Bruce Lee redefined martial arts in popular culture. The great singer became an icon, solidifying this status with Thriller’s great success and the revolutionary concept of producing a mini-movie music video. With his fame was a passion for peace, love, and charity all over the world. He showed that he cared for people. Seemingly idealistic, it was as if he felt he could solve the world’s problems with his music’s message and his personal image.

Despite all he had contributed in so many ways, we also learned that Michael Jackson was human. He had frailties that people often speculated about, but only he completely knew. Black Americans struggled with the constant changes in his physical appearance. Many who felt so empowered by Jackson had felt somewhat betrayed, as though the question was, “Doesn’t he understand that he crushed the race barrier of music?” Many of us thought, “Why be ashamed of being Black when you are loved just as you are!” His fans grumbled but still loved him.
As time passed, fans of all ethnicities and nationalities (now being an international star) began to question Jackson’s basic sense of reality. From the plastic surgeries, to the exotic pets, sleep chamber, fascination with the so-called Elephant Man’s bones, and questions about his sexual orientation, his fans struggled with him. Those who were not so touched by Jackson’s music were willing to believe the worst based on what seemed to be a person out-of-touch with reality. There are few who really knew whether Michael Jackson crossed the line of decency. But, it was those serious challenges and human struggles which makes Michael Jackson so real to me. Michael Jackson has accomplished what few people can ever imagine, yet he struggled and suffered in some of life’s most simplest arenas—relationship, love, and identity.

So, as I reflect on Michael Jackson, I conclude that he was both great and flawed. In that conclusion, I also see the vast potential in the human spirit, and how greatness does not wipe away our human vulnerabilities. We all must deal with both for all our lives. To me this is the symbolic meaning of the early death of this entertainment icon. Similar to Marilyn Monroe, the images we will have are those of his youth and energy. His legacy cannot be comprehended at this time. But in my own lifetime, to that man in the mirror, I can say, “Thank you Michael Jackson. Thank you for all the memories and happiness you brought to my life and the lives of so many others, on those occasions when I awkwardly imitated you or shared your music and videos with others who grew to love your work. I believe you tried to be a good person. Maybe sometimes you did fail, only God knows what was in your heart. Regardless, your accomplishments gave me hope, and your frailty reminds me to remain humble. Again, thank you.”

Have ya'll read  in some of the previous articles what Dwain Pellebon has admitted to?  Shades of Jerry Sandusky!!!  It isn't okay  for an adult strange man to have a 13 year old girl lay down naked to rub cream over her body for a skin irritation, nor is it okay to have a 15 year old mentally challenged girl lay down and remove her clothes so he can look at her, especially when she's not able to understand it's wrong.    And it really, really galls me he was a CASA, worked with foster children, had a degree in Sociology etc., and what he's done to the children is wrong in so many ways. Read this article and you'll see what a dirt bag not only Dwain Pellebon is, but also his equally enabling dirt bag of an attorney is.   And the attorney tries to equate some of what happened as "It's not a crime to touch a child. It's not a crime to feel affection for a child. You go home and pat your kid on the head, you're not committing a crime."
Wednesday, Smith said he is depending on the children's testimony to get the lewd acts charges dismissed. "We anticipate that the two young people in particular, will say there was nothing sexual about this," Smith said.
 ::snipping2::
"It's important, especially with the interviews with the children, it's important to actually see them say what they said. We not only hear the words, we see how they said it."

Preliminary hearing set for former OU professor
February 15, 2012

On Tuesday, the preliminary hearing for a former University of Oklahoma professor suspected of rape and sexual abuse of and lewd acts with children was set for May 10.

On Dec. 19, 2011, the district attorney’s office charged Dwain A. Pellebon, 55, with two counts of first-degree rape of a child under 14, two counts of child sexual abuse by lewd acts and two counts of lewd acts with a child under 16. The alleged incidents cited in the formal charges involved two children, now 15 and 13. The incidents occurred between January 2010 and December 2011.

A Cleveland County Jail official said Pellebon was incarcerated on Dec. 9, 2011, though he was released the same day on $75,000 bond. Court documents show that he remains on pretrial release with supervision, though he is restricted from contacting minors.
