doo-lolly clackers = benwa balls. Joran gave a pair to a Peruvian cab driver as partial payment for his escape ride to Chile.

This is my fault. I was trying to not say benwa balls... (because I think they're creepy) so I tried to find a cute word as a substitute. In doing so, I think I've created a virus.

Because nobody in their right mind knows what a doo-lolly clackers is.  1,000 apologies.

The published on-line articles of June 3, 2010 state that Joran van der Sloot was detained but no explanation in regards to the happenings encompassing that detainment.  However the words of Joran's confession printed in "Portrait of a Monster" imply that Joran surrendered.

(NewsCore) - Joran van der Sloot has appealed the 28-year sentence imposed on him by a Peruvian court for killing a young woman in Lima in 2010, his attorney, Jose Luis Jimenez, told AFP Tuesday.

Van der Sloot is also considered the chief suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2005.

He was sentenced earlier this month to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his hotel room after they met in a casino.

She was found beaten and strangled five years to the day from Holloway's disappearance.

A reduced sentence is a matter of discretion for the presiding judge under Peruvian law, according to AFP.

"But we can legitimately aspire to a greater reduction because from the beginning Joran van der Sloot showed cooperation with justice," Jimenez said.

The appeal, filed before the Peruvian Supreme Court, is likely to be adjudicated between April and May, the lawyer said.

I guess Joran and Jiminez forget that little story that Joran told about the Peruvians that robbed them in the car, and then the Peruvians waiting in his room to kill Stephany, and the ones that killed her while he went out for coffee.

He is caught on tape, entering the room with the coffee, coming right back out, pretending to have lost his keys, knocking on the door, then going for help to be let into the room. 

He then has Jiminez file to have his initial confession thrown out b/c it was obtained under duress and without the aide of an official translator.  Now, he's claiming the judges didn't pay enough attention to that confession.

Good grief. Poor Joran, always the victim.
