Jamcakes, IIRC the article was not from the prosecutor's office.  I don't think that I saved the article, but if I come across it again I'll repost it.  Personally, I don't think that Aruba wants anything to do with Joran.  They don't want the negative attention for the island. jmo

Aruba relieved after conviction
01.17.2012 11:37 | Armand Snijders

ORANGE CITY - In Aruba is great relief that the trial in Peru against Joran Friday after one week ended with a conviction. For Van der Sloot is especially big news in the United States by the disappearance of the teen Nathalee Holloway, five years ago. And that has huge implications for tourism on the Caribbean island.

"Fortunately, the circus temporarily over again," sighs Isaac Mansur, owner of a luxury apartment complex just outside the Aruban capital Oranjestad. Last week, he has disturbed the huge U.S. media attention for Joran van der Sloot. "There were even American journalists on the island to see how we Arubans, glances at the trial in Peru. Especially to find out if we have not forgotten Nathalee Holloway. "

According to Mansur, the effects of the "American overreaction" reaching. "I've been back a few days heard of cases where American tourists do not dare to go on the cruise because they are afraid and Aruba island to find a murder. That sounds ridiculous, but anyone who puts a foot on the island, makes no money. And feels that the tourism sector. In the months after the disappearance of Holloway, now five years ago, it was much worse. Americans canceled their trip or en masse decided a planned vacation to spend elsewhere. I took that tens of thousands of dollars turnover. "

By the court in Peru the issue was raked up again Nathalee Holloway, the Aruban extra bad. "We are experiencing the last two or three years, the impact of the crisis in the United States," says the owner of a souvenir shop in the heart of Oranjestad. The tourists will stay the well, but they have less money to spend. Previously they ran the store with bags full, now you can be happy if they take a cheap thing. You see it in the rental cars that they drive, which are small family cars instead of SUVs. Too much focus on Joran van der Sloot and Holloway Nathalee may be the final blow mean for businesses in the tourism sector. "

For now, however, the American media storm died down here. Al Mansur fears whether he intends to Van der Sloot to challenge his conviction. "Hopefully it blows over. Attention to Joran van der Sloot and the health of our tourism not just go together. "

I found your posted article. As it turns out, it wasn't this article  .  I do remember seeing something to the effect that Aruba was going to go to Peru to question Joran now that he had pleaded guilty, Natalee was declared dead, or Joran was sentenced.  Or maybe I dreamed it!!

Aruba needs new public prosecutor and attorney general
Saturday, 04 February 2012 16:44

Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers said in an interview that the public prosecutor is to retire soon, as he reaches pension age at the end of this month. A request has already gone to the President of the Court to come with the proposal. The government will present the court with a list of candidates interested in the post from Aruba and the other islands.

There will be no announcement of the open position as this is proposed by the court. The minister also remarked that attorney general is also leaving. As the attorney general is employed by The Netherlands and the post is open on St. Maarten, the public prosecutor stationed on Curacao authorized the attorney general to move to Sint Maarten. Aruba's public prosecutor was asked to attend to the procedure of recruiting a new attorney general. The open position will be made known in The Netherlands and on Aruba and interested parties will be invited to apply.

IMO - Aruba has washed their hands of the whole Joran issue.  They want to forget everything about Joran and Natalee.  They also want to forget about Robyn Gardner.  When I say "forget" I mean pretend it never happened.

Aruba won't get involved with Joran's sentence in Peru or his charges in the US.  They don't want that kind of attention.

Alex Mathew at large
Saturday, February 4, 2012 8:00

ORANGE CITY - The inter alia trafficking suspect Alex Mathew is at liberty. Yesterday the Court of First Instance agreed with the request of his lawyers John Zara and Bram Moszkowicz order to suspend judgment pending the hearing of the case. The owner of Foxy Lady nightclub is not really happy: "They have everything taken away from me in the eighteen months that I was stuck."

by our reporter
Ariën Rasmijn

Reason for the release is that the handling of the case "Estreya" which Mathew, his wife Liliana and Michael Stone Leveling suspected of trafficking, has been postponed. The planned dates are 22, 23 and May 24 Last Wednesday it would start treatment but Mathew's lawyer Zara had still not able to question all witnesses. "Of the 30 witnesses but I 10 can speak. The prosecution has all these 30 people in four months to speak, but for us most were inaccessible. Whether they were in America moved to another state by their words not directly contact to be had if she had suddenly left the island. I think of it - also because the statements that we do have the benefit of my client. - That many of those statements were false and that the Public Prosecutor is now doing its best to take advantage of these people beyond our reach. "

On his release, a number of related conditions. For example, he twice weekly to the police report, his passport taken, he may have no contact with witnesses in the case and he must always reach for justice. Chief Justice Peter Blanken says that the OM resigns itself to the decision of the court. "We were a bit into this, because of the long duration of the case."
 ::snipping2::
The witnesses are not ready, the court has decided three weeks ago that the case would not be substantively addressed, says lawyer Zara. At its meeting on Wednesday he and Mathew's leading lawyer Bram Moszkowicz then the request for judgment for their client to suspend. "We asked the court if necessary a few days to think about it and on Friday with a decision. This also happened on Friday and we got the decision that our client from KIA could leave. "

ITA with you. They wish it will all go away... but people have these things called BRAINS... (most do, anyways) ...and they will just never forget. Aruba will be forever linked with Natalee Holloway.

Aruba's denial is on the level of Anita Van der sloot's.

That hiefer is pushing at least 250-275 lbs these days. So, she wears these colorful moo-moos to hide the rolls. Sometimes, she drapes a pink flowing scarf over that, down below her knees but just above her cankle regions.

You just wanna ring her up and say - honey, who do you think you're fooling?

Pretty soon she's going to have to park her bodacious pancakes at the campgrounds and throw an RV cover over herself. Bless her little ol' charcoal crusty mcnugget of a heart!

I truly believe she does not have the ability to comprehend the catastrophic damage she allowed to happen to Natalee and her family. She is mentally inept, as is Aruba.

I do not know if it is that cracking hot air down there that mixes in with the sea water... or perhaps it was just one too many glasses of that Chateaux Nef de Pipple champaign they got... or what.

I do know this - those brain cells are BURNT... and just like disco and bell bottom pants, they ain't coming back. OUTLOOK NOT GOOD! ...says the fortune cookie.

Requirements for fitness to replace Taco Stein:

1.  Equally ridiculous name (such as Boeti Boer, pronounced Booty Beer)

2.  Equally spineless and inept

Found this on the same Dutch blog spot:

Joran van der Sloot now protected trademark

Google translation:

AMSTERDAM - Both 'Joran' and 'Joran' have recently been protected trademarks. The mother of Van der Sloot, the name of her son six months ago as a registered trademark.

This was discovered by director Paul Ruven, when he was working on his movie Me & Mr. Joran. Jones. "Just before we wanted to mount, there came a letter from a lawyer for Van der Sloot: There should be no movie, because Joran is a brand that is in possession of the family Van der Sloot," writes Ruven on Tuesday his weblog .

The director has his own lawyer to investigate the claim. It came to the conclusion that there is no reason for a ban on the film. "Our lawyer said that it is possible that van der Sloot family is indeed 'Joran' and 'Joran' registered as a trademark might have. But there are a number of gradations is. Coca Cola is everywhere in the world very well protected to avoid abuse in trade. But when a person Joran is very difficult and very costly. Moreover, his actions and statements by Joran a public figure. "

Requirement

The director was forced to meet the requirement of another person, whose identity has not been announced. These person wanted to in no way with the film-be associated. Ruven therefore eventually some scenes removed.

The film Me & Mr.. Jones goes on 22 September premiere. The main roles are played by Hanna Verboom and Robert de Hoog.

Van der Sloot trial begins tomorrow in Lima

Oranjestad (Aruba), Thursday

The Excelsior Casino at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Aruba on May 29, 2005 the kitschy place where the life of Joran van der Sloot and others substantially altered. On one of the blackjack tables for the first time he met Natalee Holloway, who later that night will disappear without a trace.

Now, more than five months later, the chairs at the tables in the faded, but still crowded-star Palm Beach to once again occupied by young American tourists. About the case against Joran van der Sloot, which begins tomorrow in Lima, with no word spoken. In the Holiday Inn Aruba is partying, drinking and gambling the motto, as in 2005.

This is different from ten kilometers away, where in the heart of the more colorful Oranjestad's boring looking building of the prosecution is based. Mr. Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein says the case against Van der Sloot tomorrow with great interest to follow. "Of course we want to know how Joran tomorrow in Peru decays. The investigation into the Natalee Holloway case is never closed by us, "says the Dutch Advocate General strongly. "There is no large police team more on the matter, but every serious tip is verified. Van der Sloot remains the prime suspect. "

Lies

According to Taco Stein is considered after the arrest of Van der Sloot in June 2010 some investigators to Lima to send him again to be heard. "But after careful consideration, including the FBI, we have refrained. We realized that Van der Sloot us probably just new lies on the sleeve would be predicted, "said Stein. The Advocate General believes that Van der Sloot in Peru by the court for the murder of Stephany Flores to a lengthy prison is condemned.

If the Holloway case is ever resolved, a possible extradition to Aruba problems. There just is no extradition treaty with Peru. "If we Van der Sloot in Aruba want justice, we must wait until he arrived in the U.S.. With America because we have an extradition treaty. "

Not only American tourists, many Arubans would cause Joran like to forget. The disappearance of Natalee Holloway was a blot on the history of the island and had adverse effects on the tourism sector. Just when that branch again opkrabbelde what was there last year, a disappearance of an American tourist. The 35-year-old Robin Gardner disappeared without a trace in August last year after a snorkeling trip to Baby Beach. Her boyfriend was arrested, but after a few months before judgment was again released.

Former police commissioner Jan van der Straten, a former investigator in the Holloway case, confirmed that Van der Sloot in Aruba no more daily news. "Personally, I hope of course that the truth of the matter ever comes to light and the right has been running." Police and Justice received considerable criticism because the investigation against Van der Sloot went rotten. Van der Straten, who eventually was completely rehabilitated, looks back with much pleasure, but is not vindictive, he says. "Joran will still heavy in Peru and then in America," predicts the former Commissioner.

Mother

The latter also realizes Joran mother Anita. We meet at Starbucks, opposite the Holiday Inn Hotel, where the life of her son in 2005 changed course so rigorous. In an interview she does not cooperate, but Anita does indicate that this period its heavy falls. "I will present tomorrow in Lima," she decided. "I speak Joran occasionally and consultation with his lawyer present. I am well informed by the Dutch embassy in Peru. Someday I hope to visit Joran to go, because he remains my child. Fortunately, my two other sons really well and that gives me the strength during this difficult time on their feet to stay. "
