I just read this post at Carnuts site.  SAM passed away

My mom, Shirley Voight, who I think you know as Sam, died last night, November 29th, at 11:15.  She broke her hip a couple of weeks ago, got an infection, kidneys failed and, we (her family) honored her wishes to not be kept on forced life support.

She was conscious and lucid for brief moments for the past couple of days but, it was clear to all that she was tired of a machine breathing for her and the myriad of hoses and cables that were keeping her alive.  She's survived by her husband Jack, sister Nancy, brother Jim, son Jeff, daughter Nancy, and grandchildren, Eric, Tim, Megan, Julia, and Adam.
