Bearly I'm glad to hear you got your schedule worked out and that everyone is happy with it.
Sorry to hear you can't stand well right now and hope that improves soon.

Bearly, for some years I tended to my father.  While he was still in his apartment and later when he went to a nursing home.  Thank goodness my husband was supportive as the time I gave, my choice, almost swallowed me up.  In fact it was my husband that encouraged me to get in touch with him after being estranged for many years.  My husband had never met him and failed to comprehend how a man could be so distant from his family...his grandchildren...
I summoned up my courage, phoned him and he sounded very ill.  I visited him the next day and he could barely breathe.  I packed him and his walker into my vehicle and took him to the hospital emergency where he was admitted.  The doctor said his blood sats were so low she didn't know how he managed to walk into the hospital.
The beginning of a long saga, almost daily trips to nursing home.  Transporting to outside doctors when required, many hospital stays.

I guess I just want to say, I understand how one can get caught up in caregiving, almost to the exclusion of anything else.  I have never once regretted it despite the fact my children were unsupportive in my endeavors and my Mom was unable to understand how I could have anything at all to do with him.  She detests him to this day.
My father lived out his last years knowing he had someone to advocate for him and he refused to allow any procedure without having the medical staff, 'speak to my daughter'   I think it must have been a great comfort to him.  He met and liked my husband who was with me holding his hand on his death bed.

I hope I have not been to forward in my comments to you Bearly.
God bless.

What a wonderful story, Can.  He could have died all alone the very day you called, but his angel was looking out for him--that was you.  Thank you for sharing that.  It helps a lot.

Yes, he always said I saved his life.  It was an ironic coincidence.  I'm no angel, to be sure.  Truth is, he was not the only benefactor.  The experience was very helpful to me.

Angels come in all shapes and sizes.  I am glad you got something out of the reunion, so sorry your Mom did not, it is hard to go around with sadness in your heart.

Dilemma tonight... Tim Tebow or Miss America?????

Miss Florida in the pageant tonight is the cousin of a friend I grew up with from 3rd grade through high school. I sure hope she does well. Kristina Janolo is her name, she is beautiful and comes from a very fine family. She developed a program to help the "older generation" most especially people in assisted living and nursing homes.

How did your friends cousin do in the pageant?  Any young person who has developed a program for folks in assisted living and nursing homes is already a winner in my book.

Bearly - sick doggies and bad haircuts!   ::snipping2::
 - you'll have to do some repair work when you're able.
Hope your time with Cubby was fun for both of you.

Is your back feeling any better?

Sister - if I recall Monday is your day off.  Hope it is a pleasant one.  Has your counter top been replaced?

Have a good evening Monkeys!

If you are on the west coast and have a chance, you should watch Betty White's 90th birthday.  It's awesome.  Right after they have the debut of her new show.   We get east coast feed so I was able to see it early

My mom, sister, hubs and 4 kids went to the Shrine Circus last night. Normally we go a couple of weeks later at a different location but Mom will be on a cruise at that time. The venue we went to was AWFUL. Long line for tickets, to get in the parking lot and then we missed part of the show because of the wait to PRINT more tickets. Who does not know that each seat you have needs a ticket? Not the Shriners fault - the venue was in charge of that. I guess next year it is back to the old place!

That's a shame, TBM.

Sounds like you could have had more fun with us monkeys last night.

Probably but the monkeys there were funny - and we ended up sitting way up front so the motorcycle guy was flipping over our heads!

The play today was much better  - took the kids to see a live performance of the Wizard of Oz - very good stuff!

Hi to everyone...haven't been on line much lately but things are almost normal again.

Several weeks ago they found a lump in my semi good bewb. Couldn't get good ultrasound or x-rays due to old scar tissue and metal clips as markers from previous biopsy areas. Finally just had a lumpectomy done and the result (as I expected ) came back negative.. Then I had to curtail my daily duties till dr's gave me the OK. Walt flew in and helped with the animals (not the donks  ) and my sister came over every day to take care of them. At last I have my freedom and can run amok on the property without supervision. The weather has been strange...The daffodils have been in bloom since the 1st week of January and both the pear tree and lilacs are starting to sprout leaves...really weird.

Prayers still being said for all monkeys in need.

Just added this to helpful hints.  I know many are now using the iPad:

HOW TO COPY AND PASTE ON AN IPAD:

Also this video:

<iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6LUv4t12pCE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Thanks Klaas, someday if I get an iPad I will know how to use it. Still don't know how to use my phone very well.

Hahaha!

Same here, JSM.

I feel so outdated. I use a desktop PC for the Internet only.

Don't even have a "smart" phone.

I just am not mobile enough to need all these new mobile products to access the Internet.

Guess I have hit my technology apex. Wink

Brandi, you shouldn't feel outdated. All the avatars you make are amazing, you have a true talent and a gift that even the most computer savy person couldn't do.

I had to go over to my neighbor's house last night and take Bart out, he wouldn't go for her.  Please pray for him.  He has lymphoma.  He is such a good and sweet doggie.  We are so sad.

I am so sorry to hear about Bart. I will keep him in my prayers, is there anything they can do for him?

Pray.

 an angelic monkey

Believe me Bearly I have been praying for Bart.

He has been sick to his stomach for a couple of days.  His Mommy has pneumonia.  I have been keeping my eyes on both of them.

I am so glad that things turned out well. Prayers for your continued healing and prayers of thanks for all the help you were granted!   an angelic monkey

The weather here is strange too - Saturday night it was 1 below and today it is going to be 40 - not sure what is up but I am wondering if we are going to be shoveling snow in July!
