FYI - THE FRONT PAGE OF SCARED MONKEYS, BLINK ON CRIME AND RADIO HAVE ALL BEEN DOWN NOW FOR NEARLY 12 HOURS.  THE SERVER COMPANY IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM WHICH IS ON THEIR END WITH A SWITCH OR SOMETHING.

JUST THOUGHT I'D UPDATE THOSE THAT WERE WONDERING.

Thank you KLAAS.    Glad to see all is up and running again. I tried so many times to access BOC yesterday.

Can you just imagine your hubby coming in and saying "Honey, why don't you rustle us up a big mess o' that beta vulgaris for supper?"  Me neither.

We've been having 'beta vulgaris' lately for the very reasons your earlier post made, reduction of cholesteral and antioxidant attributes.

I bake my vulgaris in the oven and serve with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, thin sliced onions, salt and pepper.
Have to admit, they are a bit earthy.

I have to admit, I like my vulgar beets cold and sliced with vinegar, onions and Splenda.  First, lettuce, then, in any order, three bean salad, carrots, chopped hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, shredded cheese, goat cheese, blue cheese (whichever one is available), onions (if they don't take over the salad), tomatoes, black olives, cucumbers, then balsamic vinaigrette dressing and...wait for it...cottage cheese on top of that, and then sprinkled seeds and raisins.  I like just about anything in my salad.  I pretend the cottage cheese is whipped cream for my salad.  Beets are hardly ever available and I only put them on one part of the salad so the whole salad does not taste the same.  Any combination of the above will do.

There, you have it. Yum!

Wow Bearly, that's a mother of a salad!  By the time you have piled on all those ingredients, it must serve an army!  Bon appetite!

Good morning Bearly - how is your Dad?

Hello, my Friend!

Things are still the same and up in the air.  Thank you so much for asking.

I hope that means he did not have a stroke, was not taken to the hospital and is still being being monitored in the medical section.
In other words, hoping your Dad's situation has not worsened.
 an angelic monkey

Still in limbo, not a pleasant place, but there are much worse places.

I'm sorry Bearly.  I know how much you want the best for your Dad.  The best care, compassionate care, good solid expert care, etc.
Prayers continue.
 an angelic monkey

Thanks, Can.  It is the care I am concerned about and right now, there are several people to take care of.  Bless you!

Morning Monkeys!  Wishing all a good day!
an angelic monkey Morning a day late Can.

How is the weather up there? Cold and snowy?

The weather has been great.  It snows, then melts quickly.  Our black berry bushes have buds as well as our apricot tree.  No fruit this year, gladly exchange that for the mild weather we have been getting.

I made veggie chili today and used some swiss chard (in vulgaris family) out of my garden today.  So I guess I can call my hubby in for a helping of some vulgaris

Monkey Devil!  Monkey Devil! Vulgaris chili!!! Come and get it!!!

Actually the name of the chili is Veggie Chili (aka Vicious Veggielicious) -Adapted from Epicurious.com  So "Vulgaris" would fit right in there, like maybe Vicious Veggielicious Vulgaris Chili?

come and get your three VVV'S!

Sister, I think of you often especially when this quote of yours crosses my mind almost daily:

Faith...it matters...it really does.

Leroy, it's good to see you again.  It amazes me (in a good way) you still have the quote.  But isn't it so true . . . it matters . . . it really does.
Hope all is well with you and you enjoy your vacation.

The pedicures went fabulous yesterday.  Connie needs a new brace for her leg as I think it is now ill-fitting and is too small.  Will be working on that next week.
After the pedis we went to our favorite cafe and had a late lunch and a glass of wine.  Guess she really shouldn't be drinking with all the medicine she takes, but I'm the driver and she made it home safe and sound.  Thank you for alll the positive energy sent our way!
Lots to do today to get ready for tomorrow.
Blessings to all.

Sister, whenever I see one of your posts, it reminds me of my sister who passed away a couple of years ago.  She was diabetic most of her life and lost her vision.  Also, she had several strokes and in the end, she was bedridden and blind.  But she never lost her high spirits and could remember numbers and dial the phone, although she had lost the use of her left side.  She lived in Jacksonville and called me often.  Her husband was wonderful taking care of her, it was amazing.  She would call and we would reminisce about our childhood.  We always sang the song, "Sisters."  Rosemary Clooney and her sister sang it in a movie, "Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters...."  On the last day of her life she called me and we were singing and laughing.  She was feeling so well that day.  She always said at the end, "Life is good."  About 15 minutes after we spoke she had a massive stroke and lost consciousness.  She lived for a few hours.  I still miss her every day.  My sister had lost her speech at one time but through therapy she regained it.  She had trouble with a few words, but generally she spoke well.  I hope that your sister can do the same with speech therapy and can live a long and happy life.
The flowers I got for her had a note which said:

"But if the while I think of you, dear friend, all losses are restored and sorrows end."

Babybear, thank you for sharing this with me.  I am so blessed to have such a loving family.  I have a brother and two sisters, including Connie.  I am close with all of my family, but Connie and I used to take vacations together, she would help me with church work, or when I was sick she was also "nurse Nellie" . . . one of the toughest things is her inability to communicate/speak.  We have developed a language of our own and you should have heard us yapping yesterday although no one else really understood us.  Too funny.  She still goes to speech therapy . . . I miss talking with her like we used to do.  I have promised her I would take her on vacation this year to Key West (our favorite place).  The logistics of taking her gives me a headache because of her leg brace and the loss of use of her right side, getting tired so easy, can't talk, etc.  But somehow I am going to do it because I know she would do the same thing for me.
I am sure you miss your sister, she sounds wonderful and how I love the quote from Shakespeare.  So appropriate!
Again, thank you for sharing a piece of your soul -- I will treasure it!
