I'm going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay  off topic here but I know theres a lot folks in here that have a wealth of knowledge with animals and pets and such.

I need a good resource to obtain as much information as I can about salt water fish, tanks, filters, pumps, stands, rocks, correls, whatever, etc

The whole kit and kaboodle.

Any one know much about this stuff?

I know it takes $$$$$! And I know it is very tricky to raise salt-water fish because there are so many variables in the water temp, salinity, pH, etc. that can easily kill a VERY expensive specimen. Get LOTS of info before you take that plunge...  (I would LOVE to have one myself but I am scared of them)

DIL got one for our son a large saltwater tank few years ago. He loves it but I think he spends like an hour or more nightly checking everything. Plus awhile back he spent a couple of thouand dollars for 2 pieces of coral.

Georgeous fish. They also have a freshwater tank with some real pretty fish also. Not near as much work. LOL

Welcome back Tiger.  I would love to see a thread  in the lounge relating your adventures abroad.  Maybe even some pics of the highlights. Please.

I think I would love having one and the choice of fish are beautiful.  Very expensive, but beautiful!  I just got worried about having a power outage, or needing to go away for several days, etc. and decided I was crazy to take that one on.

If a person has the time and desire, I think it would be a great hobby.  Just setting up the tank and doing the waterscape can be a lot of fun.

Dang screwed up the quote.

Blah are you starting  a tank?

i might be, reluctantly.  We will see after she starts seeing all what is involved.

the old lady has high blood pressure/alot of stress and is thinks looking at the fishes will help.

Hell if it keeps her busy and helps with the stress, i'll put one in every room in the house   Laughing

Maybe you should just get an aquarium screen saver. I read about this tv channel, back in the day when they were first wiring houses for cable -- they showed a live aquarium while they were waiting for real programming to come down the pipe, but when they switched away from it all the customers howled and they had to put it back on, as a channel of its own i suppose.

Welcome back!

LORENZO WAS ARRESTED IN A DRUG BUST!

This is Lorenzo!!!

He doesn't look all that criminal or evil to me. He looks like any average 20 something guy.  I do see the receding hairline at such a young age that does correspond with SweatySloots.
Beyond that, he doesn't look that evil to me, but then neither did Scott Peterson.
Of all the perps wrapped up in this, I'd have to say that Freddy and Depalk are the evil looking ones at face value.

Oh, I am reading back and see that O F already made the same suggestion. Well, you don't have to skim and clean a TV screen. Could be very cool in digital high def.

Blah
Mr Dr. office use to have a small tank...
had some live fish in it  & some fakes from "Finding Nemo"

About 2 months ago ... I noticed that it had been replaced with a small TV playing DVDS..  of different fish tanks  Shocked About 30min per tank.
Even had the sound of filter bubbling away & one trying to jump out of the tank  Laughing

Just a thought Wink

this is probably ALOT cheaper from what I'm see'ing  Laughing

I will tell you the lighting setup for a coral tank is the big expense, after the tank of course. My tank has 2  250 watt metal halide lights and one 110 watts florescent in an arrangement for the top of the tank. Cost =$450.00 retro fit kit
