Joran will visit on May 8 by Judge

LIMA - Joran gets on May 8 visited in his cell by a Peruvian court in connection with the extradition request from the United States. That was justice in the Peruvian capital Lima on Wednesday (local time) unknown. Van der Sloot accuse the U.S. of extortion from the mother of Natalee Holloway.

The visit is part of a procedure in Peru, whether or not to respond to the request for extradition of Americans. The judge shall report to the Supreme Court and this formulates a resolution. That is viewed by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. The Ministry makes the decision.

If Van der Sloot is extradited, he goes for his trial to the U.S.. Then he returned to Peru to sit out his remaining sentence. If he is convicted in the United States, it goes after his sentence in Peru to have been served to the prison in the U.S..

 ::snipping2::

In Peru, Van der Sloot sentenced to 28 years in prison and 60,000 euros a small economic damages for the murder and robbery of Peruvian Stephany Flores.

http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/11999910/__Rechter_bezoekt_Joran__.html

Oh, I hope this is right, but I suspect it won't be much of a discussion:

Judge: Joran, we're here to discuss your possible extradition to the US .......
Joran: NO!!!
Judge: in connection with your "being owned" by Natalee's Mother.
Joran: NO!!!
Judge: Beth Holloway is anxious to see you in court, Joran........
Joran: NO!!!
Judge: and see you held accountable for your actions on US soil.
Joran: NO, NO, NO !!! I'm too sick to go, Judge! I need tubs of Prep H now!
Judge: Hee Hee Hee.......... well, Joran, you had no trouble asking Beth for money, perhaps you could ask her to bring you a care package when you get there? I suggest you hold your breath until she brings it.
Joran: NO!!!

I may get poo-pooed for this but....I'm not sure that I want Urine to be brought here YET.  I mean, once he's in our system, then he gets much better treatment than he's getting now, plus attys that will prolong the process with endless motions and hearings.  Meanwhile, Urine will be eating 3 squares a day, getting better healthcare than most elderly citizens, education if he wants, all the tv, books, and interviews he can stand.  He'd be in hog heaven if he were moved to a US jail.  Let him stay in Peru for a few more years.  Or at least till he gets a good case of worms.

He will be brought here to be tried only.  Then once sentenced he will return to Peru to finish his sentence there THEN return to the US to serve out whatever sentence he receives here.

Santiago, Chile (CNN) -- Peruvian officials awaited the return from Chile on Friday of Joran van der Sloot, the suspect in the slaying of a 21-year-old Peruvian woman this week.

<snipped>

Van der Sloot's former attorney, Joseph Tacopina, told CNN it was too early to reach any conclusions.

"I just think we need to take a step back before we get to the 'I told you so' stage, and let's see what the evidence is here," Tacopina said Thursday.

Tacopina said he is not representing van der Sloot and no longer has a good relationship with the family.

Victim to Victor

Natalee Holloway’s mother shares story
ted Apr 28, 2012 @ 12:06 AM
Last update Apr 28, 2012 @ 12:44 AM

CANTON — Beth Holloway says she has gone from “Victim to Victor.” That’s the title of the talk she is taking across the country.

Her daughter, Natalee, disappeared during a senior trip to Aruba in May 2005. She never was found, but a man from Aruba is awaiting extradition to the U.S. on a charge of extortion, for allegedly asking Holloway for $250,000 to provide Natalee’s remains.

That man, Joran van der Sloot, is serving a 28-year sentence in Peru for the death of a woman five years to the day before Natalee disappeared, Holloway said.

On the day Natalee was to fly home, Holloway said, she got the phone call every parent dreads.

“I never could have imagined, when I left Natalee at a friend’s house just a few days before, that it would be the last time I would ever see her,” she said.

Holloway spoke to about 200 at the McKinley Grand Hotel on Friday night as the featured presenter at the 105th annual conference of Soroptimist International Midwestern Region. Soroptimist is an international service organization committed to improving the lives of women and girls.

A lifetime teacher, Holloway decided to teach others about personal safety and travel safety through her book “Loving Natalee,” and through her travel safety program, Mayday 360.

<snipped>

About her message, “I think it’s empowerment,” she said. “It’s the very thread between Soroptimist and what I have been doing, empowering young women and girls.

“We’ve both made it our lives’ work to empower young women and girls.”

Holloway said Natalee, like most travelers, had a false sense of security. She offered a few tips:

• Never leave your group.

• Never leave your beverage unattended.

• Never leave with someone you don’t know.

• Never get into a condition where you can’t take care of yourself.

“When traveling, it’s common to go out to have a good time,” she said. “But remember, there may be others who have a different agenda.”

Hard Choices

Loving Natalee
A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith
By Beth Holloway with Sunny Tillman

Page 219: In each city I have the privilege to speak to several high schools, churches, or law enforcement and civic groups.  This translates to thousands of youths and adults.  Delivering this safety message is my triumph over devastation.  It gives me great joy and is tremendously rewarding work.  I think that I can bear the pain of losing Natalee if it means that I can prevent another family from going through our tragic experience.  If even just one young person in tens of thousands is saved, then it's well worth it.  I ask young people to make a conscious decision to stay safe.  They have to make the choice.  And I'm not asking them to do anything more than I ask myself.  I have to make difficult choices every day.  I have to make a conscious decision every morning when wake up not to be bitter, not to live in resentment and let anger control me.  It is not easy.  I ask God to help me.  And I know it's not easy for young people to think about choosing  not to get into a situation in which they can't defend themselves.  But we all have to make hard choices.

Peru to U.S. on van der Sloot: Not so fast!

Birmingham, Al (WIAT)  Joran van der Sloot might be brought to Birmingham to stand trial on wire fraud extortion charges stemming from the Natalee Holloway case...but Peru wants him back to serve out his sentence on a murder conviction there.

Peruvian Justice Minister César San Martín has told the media there Van der Sloot might be able to attend his trial in the US, but that he would have to return to Peru after the verdict to serve the rest of his 28-year sentence. If he were to receive a prison sentence in the US, this would have to be served after his prison term in Peru.

There will be a May 8 hearing on the preliminary extradition request by the United States. After the hearing the case will go to Peru's Supreme Court, then to the Council of Ministers.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Embassy in Lima are maintaining a polite "no comment" on reports in Peru and in Dutch media that steps are being taken to bring van der Sloot to this country to face charges he defrauded the family of Natalee Holloway.  Federal prosecutors here in Birmingham got indictments for wire fraud and extortion last year claiming van der Sloot offered Natalee's family information on her fate in exchange for $250,000.  The family reportedly paid him $25,000 but received no information.

WOO FREAKING HOO!!!!

Oh, Beth DESERVES to sit in a courtroom and watch him get convicted on something related to Natalee!!!!

Where's the Monkey Bus, Klaas?  Let's do a Monkey ROAD TRIP for this!!!!

Because I don't have time to find the original..here is the one you circled yourself

Not a bad idea CBB - a new bus or something.  Maybe a train?

We have to put 2NJ on the train/bus.

I never got on the bus, I was too shy to ask--who would have thought?

I do not think Joran should ever be a free man, I don't think he could ever control himself enough to be safe for any woman.
