Different article same title,

5/11 Joyce Garrard sentenced to life in Savannah Hardin running death case

"Etowah County Judge William "Billy" Ogletree today sentenced Joyce Hardin Garrard, 50, to life in prison without parole for forcing her granddaughter to run for hours until she collapsed and died.

Garrard, wearing a burgundy T-shirt, spoke briefly before the sentence was passed, telling Ogletree the only thing she would change would be "my granddaughter being with me as always." She added, "What you give me is what I'll have to do." "

2/12/16  Died since written

Joyce Garrard, convicted of running grandchild to death, reportedly in grave condition

"A woman convicted last year of capital murder in the 2012 death of her 9-year-old granddaughter is in grave condition in a Montgomery hospital, according to her son's attorney.

Alan Jackson, a Boaz attorney, said Joyce Hardin Garrard, 50, collapsed after a family visit Sunday at Julia Tutwiler Prison in Wetumpka and was taken to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. She is currently on a ventilator there and is brain dead following an apparent heart attack, he said"

In this article it verifies she has died.  Her attorney said she is now in heaven with Savannah.
Good thing I'm not the judge . . . guess I need to look in the mirror.  But this case has always sadden me.
