TROY, Ohio –  An adoptive father in western Ohio has been accused of raping three children and allowing other men to have sex with one of them, allegations that a family services official on Wednesday called "heinous."

The 39-year-old man was being held on $800,000 bond on three counts of rape and one of compelling prostitution. A message left for the county public defender's office, which is representing him, wasn't immediately returned. The Associated Press is withholding the man's name to protect the children's identities.

The man was jailed Feb. 24. He lives in Troy, a city of some 25,000 people about 20 miles from Dayton.

The Dayton Daily News reported earlier that the man had adopted three children and was in the process of adopting a fourth who lived with him.

Troy police said one boy, age 10, told them two other men besides the suspect had sex with him. The children aren't all birth siblings and include three boys and a 9-year-old girl. Police said the other two boys, ages 9 and 12, also said the suspect had sex with them.   ::snipping2::

An adoptive father is accused of raping three of his children and allowing men to have sex with at least one of them.

The 39-year-old from Western Ohio, who Mail Online is not naming to protect the identity of the children, was also in the process of adopting a fourth child.
The junior league basketball coach, who has been suspended by authorities in Troy,  is charged with three counts of rape and one count of compelling prostitution.

Two other men - Jason Zwick, 29 of Beavercreek and Patrick Rieder, 31 of Dayton - have been accused of having sex with one of the children, a 10-year-old-boy.
'We’re hoping that we don’t have any other (victims) and we hope that we have stopped this before it got any further,' Troy police Capt. Chris Anderson said.

An investigation into how the adoptions took place will be carried out by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
'We are absolutely pulling the paperwork from this case and staff is looking through it,' said Ben Johnson of ODJFS.   ::snipping2::

 The adoptive father has been charged with raping three boys in his care and compelling prostitution by hiring the 10-year-old out for sex. He and two other men remained in jail Thursday on rape charges.
 Federal and local law enforcement officials said they're widening the investigation into child sexual exploitation allegations against 39-year-old Kenneth Brandt, who worked out of his home as an insurance claims adjuster.
 Troy police said they impounded Brandt's truck and seized four laptops from the home and a video camera and two wooden paddles from the master bedroom.

Officials said the father hired one of the boys, a 10-year-old, out for sex, prostituting him. The father and two other men remained in jail Thursday on rape charges. The father’s name is being withheld by The Associated Press to protect the children’s identities.

TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - The troy father at the center of a sex ring bust involving his sons, faces a judge.

Kenneth Brandt, 39, is charged with three counts of rape in Miami County. He faces similar charges in Montgomery county.

Investigators say Brandt adopted three boys from Texas and solicited two men to have sex with one of the children.

One of those men, Patrick Rieder, is in the Montgomery County Jail charged with rape.

A Beavercreek man, Jason Zwick, also faces rape charges. He has a hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Thank you MuffyB -- this makes me so sick to my stomach!  These poor children.  Thinking they had a forever home only to be used and abused.  It is beyond tragic.

You're welcome Sister.  It seems like there is so much of this going on under the radar.  The children must live the rest of their lives after what's happened to them.  Can we really repair the damage?  Their lives will never be the same.  Even with a lot of counseling and possibly a forever home, damage is done.  Poor children. 
And for the men that did these things... they pay fines, do some jail time, possibly register as an SO and then what?  How soon will they be back out doing the same thing to other children.  And I'll just bet this wasn't the first time for any of the men to do these things.

I don't really care who might be a Republican, Democrat, or whatever. That's not why I posted the article.  Kenneth Brandt "was for a time, president of Miami County Foster Parents Inc., a nonprofit organization that raises money to purchase toys for foster children. . . ."  Sounds like Jerry Sandusky, who had The Second Mile, like Dwain Pellebonhe OU Professor  who was a CASA and worked with foster children, all men involved with children and facing charges for sexually assaulting children.  There are more  

For clarification purposes and so we can research and update, there are currently three male suspects involved:
Jason Zwick, indicted on 3 counts of felony rape, facing up to 11 years in prison on each of the charges.
Kenneth Brandt, the adoptive father of the boys has been indicted on 31 counts of felony rape.
A grand jury in Miami County issued the indictments against Zwick and Brandt.
The third suspect Patrick Rieder is being handled in Montgomery County.

One of three men arrested last month in the rape of three boys near Dayton has ties to the Young Republicans of Ohio.
Jason Zwick has been indicted on three counts of felony rape and could face up to 11 years in prison on each of the charges. Kenneth Brandt, the adoptive father of the boys, has been indicted on 31 counts of felony rape. A grand jury in Miami County issued the indictments against Zwick and Brandt, while the case against a third suspect, Patrick Rieder, is being handled in Montgomery County.
A profile of the suspects in The Dayton Daily News said Zwick, 29, comes from an upper-middle class family that is well connected in Ohio political circles. The report said Zwick's Facebook  page showed that he "liked" the Ohio Young Republicans. It's not clear if Zwick was an official member or just shared the group's ideals.

None of the three had significant criminal records when they were charged with child rape last month. Brandt was known in Miami County as a foster parent advocate. Zwick is a member of a well-connected Beavercreek family.

He was also, for a time, president of Miami County Foster Parents Inc., a nonprofit organization that raises money to purchase toys for foster children. . . .

Brandt was initially certified as a foster parent in February 2005 in Miami County, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. That certification transferred to Montgomery County in May 2008. In October 2009, he had a foster care certification approved through Adopting Children Today Information Option Network (ACTION), the non-profit group that helped him adopt his three children.

Miami County officials confirmed last week that four foster children were placed in Brandt's home between November 2006 and August 2007. One was a 15-year-old boy who later was moved to a group home.

Rieder was arrested Feb. 27 and Zwick was arrested Feb. 28.

Before the undercover bust, none of the three, who remain in custody, had crossed police radar for sex crimes against children.

Kenneth Brandt of Troy entered pleas of not guilty through his attorney. Brandt remains in jail on a bond of $800,000 on 31 counts of felony rape involving three boys. That count includes 11 that carry potential sentences of 15 years to life.

Jason M. Zwick, 29, of Beavercreek, who faces three felony counts of rape for allegedly raping one of the boys, entered pleas of not guilty through his attorney. Zwick could face up to 11 years in prison on each of those charges, county prosecutors have said. Bond for Zwick was continued at $500,000 cash.

Judge Christopher Gee denied requests from both men to have the court lower their bonds. Brandt and Zwick are expected to be in court next on April 2.

The case against a third man accused of rape in the case, 31-year-old Patrick Rieder of Dayton, is in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Brandt is the adoptive father of the boys as well as a daughter, all between ages 9 and 12 years.

Brandt is accused of raping one boy sometime from Dec. 1, 2010, and Feb. 24; a second sometime from May 1, 2010, and Feb. 24; and the third sometime from Nov. 30 and Feb. 24.

Zwick is accused of a rape that occurred sometime from Jan. 1 and Feb. 24.

The three men were arrested last month as the result of an investigation on Craigslist by the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The investigation began in January.
