I don't have a smartphone or Ipad, but thought those that do might find this interesting.

According to information on Nancy Grace:

The charges against Sierra's dad were for a continuing assault.

1998-2004

He was charged with 12 counts of lewd or lascivious behavior with a child under 14.

He plead guilty to one count.

Sentenced to one year in county jail and five years formal probation.

do we know who the acts were against? Was the child his daughter?

Red, I dunno your answer but if Sierra's sis is 18 or 19 (I'm assuming) then from 1998-2004 she would be ages 7-8 up to 11 or 12 which fits in the child under 14 which he is charged with.

Father of missing Morgan Hill girl asks public to focus on search, not his record

As the father of a missing Morgan Hill girl pleaded with the community to focus on the search for his daughter and look past his status as a registered sex offender, several law enforcement agencies in Santa Clara County continue to help in finding 15-year-old Sierra LaMar.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has been leading the search since Sierra was reported missing Friday afternoon and has allocated about 75 people to help with the case, according to Sgt. Jose Cardoza. Morgan Hill police, Fremont police and the San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit also are helping in the investigation, Cardoza said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, investigators have no new information to designate the case as a missing person or abduction, Cardoza said. The Sheriff's Office is reaching out for anyone in the community to send in tips "big or small that could aid in the investigation."

On Wednesday, Sierra's dad Steve LaMar issued a public statement acknowledging that he is a registered sex offender but asked for the public to focus on helping find his daughter. The Sheriff's Office has said LaMar is not a person of interest in his daughter's disappearance and that he is fully cooperating with authorities.

"I understand the stigma associated with this in my background, and I assure everyone it is not connected in any way to my daughter's disappearance," LaMar said in the statement. "I ask that you please not shift
the focus away from the investigation and from finding Sierra. I also ask that you please not let my past shape your opinion of Sierra or anyone in our family."

LaMar said when his daughter disappeared he immediately told police about his criminal background, " in the interests of openness, truthfulness and cooperation."

Update: Missing Girl's Computer and Cell Phone Offer No Evidence to Her Disappearance

By: Ja'Mein Beale - Wed, 21 Mar 2012 15:30:21 -0800
MORGAN HILL (KRON) -- Investigators looking for 15-year old Sierra Lamar say tests run on her cell phone and computer have failed to turn up any new leads to the teen's disappearance.

At the same time police have talked with more than 50 students at Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill where Sierra is now a student and Washigton High School in Fremont where she attended classes last year.  Police say they've also talked to more than 100 family, friends, classmates, neighbors, registered sex offenders registrants, school officials, bus drivers, field workers in the south county area, and transients in the area.

Sierra was last seen last Friday morning when she left home to walk to a bus stop taking her to classes.

A task force says it's talked with all of the registered sex offenders within a ten mile radius of Sierra's home in Morgan Hill.  They're now focusing on registrants outside that ten mile zone.

Authorities say the County Crime Lab will conduct additional tests on the cell phone found about three-quarters of a mile from the school bus stop where Sierra disappeared last Friday morning.  Fingerprints found on the phone and the computer at her home have failed to turn up new evidence, investigators say.

Police also say they're following up on more than 150 phone and e-mail tips in the case.

On google maps, to the locations of the offices listed from Morgan Hill is about 20 miles, and between 25-30 min drive.

Wondering if this employment would involve city vehicles being driven for whatever reason?

Klaas Foundation joins in search for missing teen

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KGO) -- There are new developments in the search for a missing teenager from the South Bay. The Polly Klaas Foundation is now joining the family to help find 15-year-old Sierra LaMar of Morgan Hill, who disappeared last Friday. It's a loss being felt by the entire community.

Sierra's mother has requested the help of Marc Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter Polly was kidnapped and killed in Petaluma in 1994. He now heads the KlaasKids Foundation.

"We are prepared to offer everything, from support and counseling to full pledged search recovery efforts," said Klaas.

Hundreds gather at vigil for missing Morgan Hill teen

KTVU.com

MORGAN HILL, Calif. — A crowd of 400 concerned adults and tearful teens gathered Tuesday night to attend an emotional candlelight vigil for missing Morgan Hill teenager Sierra Lamar.

The vigil was held at the Morgan Hill Presbyterian church and drew friends of missing 15-year-old Sierra from the two high schools she has attended in the past two years.

During the vigil, Sierra’s anguished mother Marlene called out for her daughter.

I feel guilty because I'm always worried about where she is, said Marlene Lamar. If you can hear me, just realize how much I love you and want you back. I love you and just want you back.

 ::snipping2::

Investigators are also checking up on 276 registered offenders in the area. Sierra's father, Fremont resident Steve Lamar, has a sex crime conviction.

But investigators have already cleared him in his daughter’s disappearance. He was at Tuesday night's vigil and appeared visibly distraught

Sierra we love you and we can't wait for you to come home, said Steve Lamar.

We're not going to give up until she comes home, agreed Sierra’s sister Danielle Lamar.

The sheriff's department continues to classify this as a missing person case, not an abduction. Wednesday will be the sixth day since she vanished.

BBM. What interesting comments from her mother.  Sounds like statements one would make in the hopes that a runaway child would hear them.  No pleas to an abductor either.  And she feels guilty because she always knows where Sierra is.  That doesn't make any sense.  Does she actually feel guilty because they fought that morning or is she trying to make the story about herself rather than Sierra?  All IMO.

If you're always worried about where your child is, you don't find out from an email at 6pm that your child wasn't in school all day.

Unless Sierra had plans for after school that day and wasn't due home until later, someone should have known she was missing before then.

I agree with those who have said, something just doesn't seem right.

In looking around, I think there may be another sibling that hasn't been mentioned too.

Investigators Say No Clues Found After Examining Missing Sierra LaMar’s Cell Phone and Computer … Missng Since March 16, 2012

http://scaredmonkeys.com/2012/03/22/investigators-say-no-clues-found-after-examining-missing-sierra-lamars-cell-phone-and-computer-missng-since-march-16-2012/

Quote
The investigation into the disappearance of 15 year old Sierra LaMar continues, but provides few clues. The  Santa Clara County investigators have examined the cell phone and the computer of missing Sierra LaMar but claim they have no clues as to why she went missing. They are unable to determine whether she was a victim of a crime or a runaway. However, Sierra LaMar’s cell phone was found on the side of the road less than a mile from her home, in the opposite direction from the bus stop. With no clues found with cell phone records or on her computer as active that Sierra LaMar was with Facebook and Twitter, and the fact that her cell phone was found in the opposite direction from what was supposed to be her way to school, one has to suspect that she was stalked and taken against her will.
::snipping2::

Its becoming harder and harder to believe that this was a run away. With no clues uncovered thru the forensic examination of cell phone and compter this is really starting to appear to be an abuction by some one who stalked this girls routine. I have to wonder with the school contacting the parents so late in the day as to she was not in school that day was known by who might have taken her?

I am hoping for the best, but this is not looking good.

I was really hoping that the computer and cell would give some clues.

Were there no neighbors that noticed this girl as they left for work that morning????  When I lived in town, mornings were busy with folks getting ready for the day by being in and out of the door and getting into cars.  Did no one notice a strange vehicle?
