You know how we old folks are always saying " I remember when gas was .25 a gallon or cigs were .25 a pack" Well I can remember when I first got the diesel tank and paid $575.00 for 500 gallons and today I got 400 gallons and it cost $ 1336.00. This is off road diesel so no road taxes but this is NUTS.
I feel so bad for the farmers..first  the  drought and now the costs for running their equipment.

It's crazy!  At the pump, diesel is more costly than gasoline.  I remember back in the late 70's early 80's when people were converting their gas trucks to diesel cause diesel was so much cheaper.   I've seen diesel steadily rise thru the last 15 years and for no reason.  Diesel should cost less than gas, it takes  less to refine it.

But since the current administration (and some previous ones) want us all to give up gas and especially diesel, the price in inflated by extra fees on the makers. So while it takes less to refine the end cost is higher. For example, federal taxes on diesel(road use) is 24 cents per gallon, E85 (which uses food to produce - specifically Corn) is only taxed 8 cents on the gallon. This is because the federal government finds it more palatable to take food and use it as fuel.  The fallacy is that "green fuel" makes less greenhouse gas. Really, most green fuels make more greenhouse gas in production but less in use.

The convoluted "logic" of the government is driving all of us to the poorhouse!

Good morning everyone,

It was a long 14 hour day yesterday and more than 350 miles.
The news was not good and I know I need to be making some decisions regarding quality of life versus quantity of life.  The surgery is still planned for the 9th with radiation to follow and possibly chemo therapy.
George's quality of life has suffered in the past few years with the seizures sapping his strength.  He used to be able to walk around town with his walker but now is confined to his wheelchair.  He never complains for which I am blessed and he is grateful for what anyone does for him.  I have caregivers with him 10 hours a day but following surgery that will have to be increased.
For now I will just take it one day at a time and look to the Lord for strength.
I thank everyone for your continuing thoughts and prayers.
Blessings.
