Seriously?  What are you doing in Florida?  Already on vacation?

In Memphis. Just finished two weeks of job-related training.  I'm now indoctrinated like a Stepford wife.

Yesterday was my brother's birthday.  For more than 25 years he sent Mom flowers on his birthday.  He was having a difficult day.
Blessings to all.

I am sorry for your family's grief.  I can only imagine what a wonderful woman she must have been to have produced such a daughter as you and such a son that would never forget to thank his mother on the day of his birth.   an angelic monkey

Good morning everyone!

Going to Mom's today for what is probably the next to last trip.  We are renting her house as of October 15th, which is good because we can still keep it insured and on the market.
I am doing somewhat better -- time is what I need most.
Prayers for all.
Blessings.

Thinking of you all.

Cookie, I hope your husband is getting some pain relief.  How is the pooch?
JSM, I am praying for the two women you asked me to pray for.
Brandi, I hope your nerve pain is getting better, that is very painful.
Sister, prayers for you and your brother, and your sister, of course.
CC, I am wondering if your eyes turn red when commands are given and you say, "Yes, Master."  (to JSM of course!)
can, miss you!
Miss GE and Babs, thinking of you!
Hi Klaas!
4Donks, is the weather any cooler for all the animals?

Hi all !

Cookie......Hope you get good news on the biopsy.

The weather is cooling down . Jazz and Bailey are loving it, Mac prefers to stay inside in the climate controlled house. I stopped the prozac because I didn't see it improving Jazz's situation. Bailey seems to be the best medicine. He is such a big goof and loves to run and play. We have discovered that Bailey has hearing loss due to long term untreated ear infections. Poor guy ( not that he seems to notice) but it just makes it more problematic finding a permanent home. We're on the final leg of his heart worm treatment and basic training. Keep your fingers crossed that he finds the perfect family.

well. thanks all for asking about Molly. first of all.Molly was hit by a car this evening. She appears to be ok. lots of bumps, bruises and scrapes and bumps...vet said that she is a lucky dog that she was not more severely injured. my little grand daughter opened the door as we were leaving and Molly ran straight out into the street. the car did not even stop! it all happened so fast. Molly took off running...I had to jump in my car to go find her cause I was afraid that she would get hit again.  the grands were hysterical...Lexi blamed herself...it was awful. Molly does try to run out front when the door opens so Lexi felt a bit better once she knew that Molly was gonna be ok and that she tries to run out the front form us too. so, we have a new rule, Molly goes in her crate first before we open the door and putting our invisible fence in the front!

Next, Molly did not have tumors, she has ringworm! !!!! so, now I am questioning our vet and if this surgery was even necasary! She hasn.t even gotten her stitches out from her surgery and she gets hit by the car! poor dog! Hubs and I are beside ourselves! I will talk to the vet about the surgery when I take her in to have the sutures removed next week. one of the stitched area got opened up a bit from the car hitting her...road rash on all 4 legs and she is limping badly but no broken bones etc. i am pissed that the car did not stop...you hit a 70 lb something and you don't realize it? it could have been a child!  grrr...
sorry so lengthy but I needed to vent with you all...

I'm glad to see Molly seems okay after her brush with the car.  That's really scarey.  I know it's after the fact, but for the future:

I don't allow my dogs go out the door before I do.  I've trained them to wait when I approach and open a door.  I step out and then tell them when they can go.    I even do this inside my home, as it has to do not only with safety when going outside, but it has to do with the pack pecking order.  It takes some training and with some time, the dogs will do this.  I started doing this when I would get up in the morning and open my bedroom door.  My yorkies would normally want to blast out of there like gangbusters.  But I got so I would say to them "wait" and make them wait.  Then say "okay" and they could go and get breakfast.  Same thing before you let them out of the house or take them on a walk etc.  Make sure they wait, even on a leash.   Open the door, say "wait" walk through door and then tell them "come".  If they start out the door before you release them, say "wait" and wait. And when you tell them "okay" and they go out the door, tell them they're good!   It sounds like a lot, and it is at first, but it gets where they will wait without being told, with only an occasional reminder.  I do the same if they want to come in or out the yard gate, get in  or out of the car etc.

And I don't ever  "chase"  my dogs. I teach them to chase me! They used to take a toy and run and want me to chase them.  What I do is play games with them where they will chase me.  That way, if they do get out they won't run away wanting me to chase them. My Mom taught her chi this trick.  Her little Chloe is a Houdini getting out of the yard.  And when she would escape, she would stay in sight, but keep running just out of reach.  I told my mom to try two things.  Open the car door and she might jump in.  Or, walk out, call her name and then turn and walk or trot briskly toward the house.  Chloe followed her back to the house.  Whew!

Training your dog to "wait" at the door and to come to you or follow you back may save their lives.  I know Molly basically bolted and ran out the door (crime of opportunity) but she seems like a smart girl, and can learn.  She's young, but still trainable in that regard.  My heart dropped as I read how Molly ran out the door and was hit by the car.  I hope she's okay this morning Cookie.

Muffy...very good advice ! I am going to try that training. Molly is a lot better today thank goodness...very sore but eating and walking painfully around. She won"t go near the front door now but i am sure as time passes she will lose the fright memory...but now is the time to start the training...
thanks..

yesterday was not a good day. my son is a high school teacher and yesterday he was threatened by a student to do my son bodily harm!nit was said in the classroom in front of other students. My son did not want to press charges at first, but the kid kept talking about beating his arse...Son ended up pressing charges and they took the kid away in handcuffs.. he will probably get expelled as he should. it is scary nowadays cause of shootings and such mat schools...and guess what...son has had a run in with this kid a week ago and mom stuck up for the kid! made up excuses why it was the school and teachers fault, not her babies fault...will be interesting what mom has to say about this event! that is most of the problem today, parents stick up for their rotten kids instead of making their kids accountable for thei actions! grrrrrrfr!

Cookie,
Yipes -- that is really scary.  Being responsible is something parents are just not teaching their children, probably because they use the "excuse" system themselves.  Glad he is physically ok, but am sure this has torn him up mentally.  Prayers headed that way.
