an angelic monkey Morning Monkeys.... HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!  Praying that you all are having a great one.

CC and I went to Mass today, at the end of communion the thunder went crazy and the skies fell. CC had never driven in that much rain. Then to my mom's for lunch. He is watching golf now.

Northern, sorry I missed you.

PRAYING always for all my monkey friends.  an angelic monkey

Luv and Hugs JSM

PS.... TBM.... The dress goes on Saturday around 2 pm. GE's and Bab's hope you can make it.

Happy Easter to you too also.

I can not wait for the video - you will be wonderful!

Babs and I are hoping to be able to make it to JSM competition Sat. So we can see her and her dress in person. The dress is so JSM.  You are brave soul to sew it for her. That kind of fabric scares me.

Well, it was an act of bravery - I had not used much of that type before but I figure that if I can do princess dresses and doll clothing, anything is possible!  LOL

...cause JSM is my princess doll

My daughter wants to learn to sew.  We got her a sewing machine for her birthday.  Frankly, I'm afraid of the darn thing.  I'm afraid I'm going to sew my fingers together.  lol

The best way is to go to the store you got the machine at and see if they offer lessons. I know the guy I deal with will give lessons free if you buy a machine - and they have teen sewing club for the kids to learn together.

Good evening everyone.  Have Connie here with me for a couple of days, along with Mr. Jenkins (the dog).  Letting her sleep in my bed as that is where the television is.
Have a couple coming in a bit for counseling before their May wedding.
Hope everyone is fine including all the fur babies!
Blessings.

Must have missed the picture!  I would love to see her dress !  Is it in the last thread or a few pages back?

No - I don't recall GE's message?? Been lurking a lot lately and not replying, though.

I am doing okay personally ... Was sooooo happy to see Trimm is okay as that had me really worried about her safety.

Don't wish to burden with my issues but my Mom is not doing well.  She was to move to AL from Memory Care ( no, not a logical move really) but the day I was to move her she was put in the hospital so spent the weekend trying to sort that out.  Seems to be a pattern with CHANGE... She cannot adapt and the hospital found no medical issues with her again.  Then we got the siblings who all are on different pages... That part of my life is messed up.

But I count my blessings everyday with my hubs and three wonderful kids...

Can't wait it to hear from Trimmy!!!

Caddy so sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your mom. With everyone on different pages it makes making decisions so much more difficult. All you can do is take one day at a  time. There are a lot of monkeys who have some of the same things happen with their loved ones. Prayers for you and your family. If you need to talk you can ask Klaas for my email address.  an angelic monkey

Love the dress for JSM, it is so her.  You are so very talented.

I really wish I could go.  The doctor is telling me I need a vacay and told me he is serious.  There is just so much going on right now.  I wish it was after taxes.

I have never been on a plane, so someone will have to come and get me, and fly with me.  j/k about the coming to get me part.

Sister, you also have your plate full and need a vacay, so do many others here.  It is easy to say get away, but there is no one around to make sure everything is okay.

My Mom seems like she is starting to get confused now and I have to keep an eye on her.  Cadi, like you, there are some who see it and others who don't.  But, when they are in conversation with you, they mention things that sound like confusion, but then the disclaimer, she always repeats herself, or how can she remember who she told and who she didn't.

She called my brothers to tell them I used up all the toilet paper.  My Mother has not bought a roll of toilet paper in more than 30 years.  My Dad did the shopping.  Now, I always bring it or I ask my brothers to, she has never run out.  She is telling everyone I am eating her food.  She gets one big meal there every day, that she takes some home, at the buffet, she takes a lot home, and I buy bread, lunchmeat, prunes, milk, cereal, etc. for her.  If I stay over, I bring extra.  She does not want me to eat or to use toilet paper when I am there.  They think it's funny, but it isn't funny at all.   She tells them anything that happens is my fault or I did it, no matter what it is.  They think that is funny, too.  Some just stay away and then they don't have to deal with it for the most part.

Her bank account is a mess, she is writing checks from her money market account and should not be, she doesn't even have enough money to have a money market account.  Where her money went, I have no clue.  She wants to take care of her own affairs.  She swore, when my Grandmother refused to stop driving, she would not be that obstinate when it was time for her to give things up.  I have to check into more and find out what in the world is going on.  The bank is sending me some things so I can look into them.  At this point I am worried more about her than my Dad.

Does anyone find any of this funny?  My brothers are professionals, they are not challenged in any way.  She says she has been working on her income tax for the last several weeks.  I have most of the information, I don't even know what she is working on.  My brother said it would take her several weeks to add up her prescriptions.  Really?  She graduated first in her class in grade school, graduated high school, and nursing school.

I am probably going to take this down after I get some feedback.  Am I being oversensitive?  Two of my brothers have asked me if I noticed something different, but are not overly concerned.  One has problems he has to deal with at home and is not really involved.  One doesn't see it or notice anything, he is the one who thinks she has repeated herself forever.  He does not visit her very much.

I will probably delete this, so don't copy it.  Thanks.

Bearly and Caddy - First I am so sorry that you are going through this - it is one of the toughest things to endure - almost worse than seeing your parent die - I have done both and I speak from experience.

I feel like you told our story with my mother in law. She became very paranoid and was doing very strange things before I finally convinced the family that she must be put in a safe environment. We were "lucky" in that her husband has been gone for a long time so she was really only endangering herself.

My MIL would claim (and still does) to be working on something when she was not even in charge of it. She did the books for our restuant years ago but we hired a bookkeeper about 15 years ago - but when I would go over there she would say that I needed to think about hiring someone because she did not have the time to do them. I still hear that same thing when we go to visit her.

The most frustrating thing was that most of the kids did not see the problem. My husband was an ostrich and chose not to see it, but his sister and brother would argue that she is just fine - she is just tired. I ended up taking care of her medications (which she was hiding everywhere in the house) and got a locking pill minder so she could only take one dose at a time and she could not mix them up. Before that she would often call me and let me know she was out of meds when I had just filled the weekly pill minder. Turns out she was either hiding them or resorting them and taking multiple doses a day of some and none of others. After the locking pill minder, she would call me and yell that I had not left any meds. The others in the family would actually believe her and call and yell at me also.

After research and talking to experts, I learned that paranoia and the need to "do something" even when there is nothing to do, is very common in early Alzheimer and related diseases. The emotional feeling that the patient get early in the disease is that they know they are forgetful but are terrified. So they lash out at the people around them. Even when you do things exactly as they wish, the feeling does not go away.  It is like that feeling we get when we know we have forgotten to do something but have no idea what it is - but it is magnified 1000 fold.

So, the long and short of it is that is YOU think something is wrong, you are probably correct. A visit with a gerontologist (they specifically deal with older people) will be super helpful. The one MIL saw helped the family understand that she was not safe.

Also, as painful and as sad as it is, you may need to get the doctor to conclude that your mother is not able to take care of herself. You may, for her own good, need to take control of her money.  Irrational spending with no idea what they have spent it on is another problem with early to mid disease.
