Bearly, I am so excited for you and your Dad.  This will give him a new lease on life!
I understand what you mean about using devices, etc. for something they were not designed for . . . I have done it also with George.  When the rehab had "done all they could", he could walk a little with a walker, had a feeding tube, couldn't speak, etc.  By te grace of God, we learned to do all those things.
Those group meetings have their own agenda, you're right.  I have lost my cool more than once when someone has the nerve to use the word "never" . . . I won't allow it.
Onward and upward girl . . . you know in your heart you are doing the right thing and that's all that matters.

There is a way to get to yes or can.  If you are so used to saying no (or can't), and it is too easy to get into that rut, you start to find everything impossible.  If they put out the effort, people will actually find out it is easier in the long run, not harder.  The child only gets bigger or the problem only gets bigger.  I love being presented with a problem where there is a solution that is universally appealing and will benefit others.  That is the whole idea behind inclusion, it helps not only the person who needs it, but it also helps others who needed it, but had already given up on themselves.

One of the most important things I learned with a special needs kid is that not all teachers love little children and want to teach them. Many do, but many just want the day to go easy and go home. Sad.

Some really did sign up for the summers off.  Sad indeed.

Just got an email, the lift has been shipped!!!  It feels like Christmas Eve!

My son says it looks like a weapon--he just saw the video today.

I had some things my Mom needed me to do for her on the phone today, so I'm having dinner with my Dad tomorrow instead.

I am hoping the sling that is included with it is as useful as the one in the video.  If it is the one piece model, I may get the one that Velcros each leg separately.  We'll see.  I can't find a picture of it yet, the ones I have seen, I think would be harder to use.

The Mom is only 44 years old, but looks much older because of what she has done to her skin.  I hope she is alive to see her daughter grow up and does not die early from skin cancer.

While I don't agree with what this Mom did with her own skin, I can't see how her daughter could get in the booth with her.  Do you think she would share her rays with others?  I think she would want them all for herself.

If she did it, I don't think her intent was to punish the girl.  She is fair-haired herself, wouldn't she have taken precautions for her daughter?

If she did 'cook' her daughter, she should be punished so not only does she not do it again, but it will be a deterrent for others.

If Mom is inside the tanning booth, who is watching her daughter?

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/college-student-claims-left-cell-five-days-without-153200359.html

DEA agents apologize for forgetting college student in cell for four days

Daniel Chong, 24, said that he was taken to the local DEA office after he was caught in a drug raid where he was smoking marijuana on April 20. The agents didn't charge him criminally and even told him they would drive him home, but apparently forgot about him in a tiny holding cell, where he languished for days without food, water, or a bathroom. Chong says he finally gave up on screaming for help, and eventually tried to kill himself with the glass from his spectacles and drank his own urine, sure he would die there.

A DEA agent discovered him days later and quickly called an ambulance which drove him to the hospital, where he spent three days in intensive care because of his near-failing kidneys, he said.

Chong's lawyer, Gene Iredale, tells Yahoo News his client could hear agents talking and other sounds from his cell, but no one answered his screams. He said Chong was handcuffed. "I believe it was, at best, inconceivably indifferent negligence" Iredale said of the incident. "I have dealt with cases in which police have abused citizens, but I've never seen anything as egregious as this." Iredale plans to file a civil suit as soon as possible.

 ::snipping2::

Chong also told agents he ate a packet of white powder he found in his cell, which turned out to be meth.

Hi
Drive by posting.

Busy time of year on the property. So much to do and just have to buckle down and get it done before it gets any hotter.
Bearly my sister had a Hoyer lift for her husband and LOVED it. It allowed her to keep him at home for a year before going to a nursing home.
Still keeping all monkeys in need in my prayers and thoughts. Hope Connie and her son are OK after the accident and Brandi's son is improving.
Will try to catch up tonight...have a great day

Thanks, can!  It just feels like being myself.  I don't like to hit a roadblock just to find out no one seems to have the answer.  In this situation, it was worse, no one knew and no one cared.  Why take a job that is in rehab when you have no interest in rehabbing anyone?  I really get sick of a 'can't do' attitude.  There is always a way.  What defeatist attitudes for the young right on up there.

Their attitude is 'I have a hammer, therefore everything I see is a nail.  I don't want to know anything else, just hammers.'  If I can't fix it with a hammer, it can't be fixed, or worse, I don't care if it ever gets fixed.  Get another tool already!  When are people going to be treated as individuals and not cookie cutters of one another?

Next problem already, my Mom's wheelchair died.  She said she still had one green light on it.  She plugged it in and now it is okay, but why wait until it gets down that low?  Now she thinks she needs a new one.  She already has 2 power chairs, how many more does she need?  The deductibles are $6,000 and she has had nothing but trouble with both of them since she got them.

I wish she would stop thinking the world loves her and only her and will therefore do right by her.  The way she treats people, it seems they look forward to getting one over on her.  I am not blaming her, no one should take advantage of another human being, just asking her to look both ways before 'crossing the street.'

I need to go and throw my 'cloak of protection' over her now.  lol

Off we go!

We are going to have to get a traffic light in here, almost ran into Trimmy!  Hey Cutie!  you!

Is it okay for Klaas to pass me your email address?  I don't ever want to lose you again!  You are such a part of our lives, we missed you and were so very worried.  I don't want that to ever happen again.

I am so excited about the lift.  Can you tell?  lol
