I'm active!

Had to go to WalMart to get a refill on a prescription. Didn't need any, but they were out of D and C-cell batteries, and almost out of bread.

State of Emergency called for Virginia already.

Not looking forward to this at all.

Everyone, stay safe!

Hi Monkey's & Brandi Smile

Remember, the solar light trick.  Do you know about it?  A woman on TV said she used her outdoor solar lights, for indoors at night, when the electricity was off.   She put the light outside in the morning to recharge, and then used the lights, again, at night.

The woman used the solar light as a flashlight for indoors. She placed a solar light inside a vase and claimed tha tshe played cards with only the solar lights.

I do not know if this trick works with any solar light.  Klaas used it handy dandy idea, before I posed it.

Hi seahorse. I remember reading that here, I believe, and in a post by you I believe. I thought it was a great idea and mentioned it to my husband a while back. We don't have any solar lights, since the street light is right outside our home, and it illuminates the yard and into our windows too!

I have a solar powered radio that has a flashlight on one end. It also has a crank. I just love it. Also has a USB port, although I have no use for it, as I don't have a smart phone that probably uses one.

We have so many trees all around us and I worry about them in hurricanes and lengthy rain spells that can make them uproot with a little wind. That is what worries me the most.

I am sure we will lose power sometime this weekend and probably be without it for several days, so if I disappear and have a "last logged in" date of a week or so, that's why!

Our power went out here a few months back and that's exactly what I did.  We have about 14 small solar lights around out deck and they are easily removed from the brackets holding them.  I simply brought them in the house and placed them all around.  It was really nice.  Between them and my wickless candles, we had plenty of light.

Morning monkeys. Prayers to all in need. Our golf course reopenes this morning and JSM are a few of the lucky ones who get to try it out first before the general public. Went to doctors Tuesday and got flu, pneumonia and shingles shots. Blood work being done. EKG and lung X-rays were fine. Trying to control hypertension and the meds are giving me coughing fits. Will try to stay on it for a few weeks and see if it gets better. Drug is called lipsonril or something. BP was 162/102.

HI Monkey's & Brandi:)

The solar hand cranked radio with a flashlight, is so functionable.

TV anchors, (last year) suggested, that people wear a Helmet, what? A bikers helmet?
I do not have a helmet, I guess, a pot will have to suffice Smile

I hope if a tree falls, it will fall in the right place, this is my prayer.

I need to follow-up on some creative ideas (not avatars). I wrote an idea down, last night, about a business card down, I need to make it happen. I find following through on ideas is the work.  You are the least lazy, monkey-person, I ever met in my life, Brandi. Why do good fresh, ideas, alway surface when we are about to fall asleep?, grrr...

I am going to have fun throught the storm, or, at least, be creative.

Klaas,

Thank-you for keeping us monkeys informed about the solar lights.

May I ask, please, a few questions?

How long did the small solar lights last? two hours, more?

Did you put the 14 small solar lights, outside, the following day to recharge?

Will the solar lights, recharge outside when it is cloudy?

Thank-you Smile

Surprisingly, they lasted many hours and a couple were still lit a little in the morning.  I'd say over 8 hours.  They will recharge outside if there is some sun and some clouds but if it's really think and dark clouds they don't recharge well.

Yes, our power was back on and I put the lights back in place outside and they recharged right away.
