It's so quiet in all the cages I keep an eye on in here. I keep refreshing pages and nothing has changed.

Sure has changed a lot.

Hope you are enjoying your holiday time, Green Eyes!

I started wrapping some gifts finally yesterday.

Still having a bit of a hard time getting in the usual Christmas spirit. I feel I am not honoring my brother if I am enjoying myself.

But I am trying to be the best Santa I can be.

Hello to all the monkeys. (JSM and CC .. where have you guys been? We miss you.)

Cookie, I did your requested avatars the other day and posted them for you!

Cadillac .. here's yours from last year if you are interested!

Good morning monkeys!

Thanks Brandi for posting last year's Santa caddy- I don't know how to change it and as soon as we get someone to do it, it will be time to change, so I really like my fall Cadillac, so I think I will wait until the first of the year to change my clothes!

Unfortunately, caddy decided to bite my son a few weeks ago and I am having a hard time with this.  His thumb will be fine, after stitches and all but she is truly a criminal.

We lied and said it was a stray because we didn't want to go through the quarantine issue.  Been there and done that.  We know her rabies shots are current, so that was not an issue for us.  I have a theory "why" she bit him but I won't go into that.  A dog should just not bite.   But then I often wonder just what kind of dog she is - a wolf dog??

Actually, I will say that I think she got bit by a snake the day before and he touched her where the bite was.  I can't prove it - but he had taken a snake away from her the day before - and the snake was sticking that tongue out at her.  She didn't show signs of being bitten, as we observed her closely - but when he petted her under her snout the next morning like he always does and continues to do, she went off.

That is just one of my stories, I could go on about the water board coming out and threatening to hit her in the head with a shovel?

I diffused that situation and then they severed my electric fence with his damn shovel.  Then I had to get that fixed...

I have been reading each day, just busy with life, which  is GOOD.

Prayers for all monkeys this blessed day - from the true Criminal and Chubbie!!

Yikes Caddy you do have your hands full. Glad your son is okay. I agree dogs shouldn't bite. But sometimes it's all they can do. Have a question since you told them it was a stray weren't you worried about having to have your son go thru rabies treatment?  Hope you are having a good day. And all is going well for you and the family.

Hi GE!

To answer your question about the rabies treatment, after we told the physician it was a stray and she gave us the health department form to complete, that did enter my mind.

At the doctor's office, nothing else was ever said but I knew we would get a letter from the Health Department.  We would have confessed if there was further treatments planned for him.  But the health department has just sent two letters saying that we need to follow the advice of our physician since we did not know if the "dog" had been vaccinated or not.

We know that cad is up to date on shots, so hopefully rabies is not an issue.  Of course, they would have just quarantined cad and then let her go since she would not have shown signs of disease.  Ha - she is quarantined - right here in my house!

Thanks for asking - we lied but we were ready to confess if it was going to create another issue.

FYI- I was told by the Health Dept on the last go round that rabies had not been around this area for quite some time.  And now dogs only have to get them every three years, if I am not mistaken.

Is that just not awful about the elementary school in CT?  I have been upset since I heard the news.  Prayers for all those affected by it - so tragic.

Love to ALL monkeys today - chubs and the criminal

bearly..congrats again on becoming a gramma...best time ever!

Brandi...do u think  I need to change to winter garb?  thanks....

Congrats on getting all your Santa duties done!

I have not wrapped one present yet.

Having trouble getting in the Christmas spirit this year, I keep thinking of my brother. I think he would like us to enjoy Christmas, but it's difficult for me.

I'll post some new avatars for you in my thread later today.

P.S. Bearly, here's the little shepherd I made for you last year:

Cookie:

New winter and Christmas designs for you at http://scaredmonkeys.net/index.php?topic=4314.msg1548251#msg1548251

thanks brandi...will go over there in a bit.
I can understand why you are having a hard time with Christmas this year...has to be sad...

hubs goes back to his doctor this Friday to maybe check on different meds for the pain. he read about some of the possible side effects of the med and he doesn't want to stay on it.

I may possibly have shingles! I have been to 1 doctor who said that my symptoms sound like the beginning stage of shingles. put me on meds and it seems better. I am going to a dermatologist tomorrow for a second opinion. If it is not the shingles I am going for the shot ASAP...not something that I want to experience again...

Cookie - do not rely upon a dermatologist to diagnose shingles.  I had it about 2.5 years ago and it is fcking painful.  Fianlly, I got the shot this past month, don't want to experience that pain again.  A doctor and a nurse at any CVS should and can diagnose the problem and put you on a Medrol dose pack or soemthing to ease the pain.  Also, baths in Aveano oatmeal bath hepls alot.

Oh my goodness!

I sure hope you don't have shingles too, cookie!

My neighbor had it last year, and he was lucky. Just had horrible pain at the sites where the rash appeared.

He did not get the nerve damage that some people get after shingles, as a result of the shingles.

My doctor described my intercostal nerve damage in my rib as being similar to nerve damage as a result of shingles, although I never had shingles. I may be on meds three times a day for the rest of my life. Sad

Sorry to hear about your husband's meds. I had to change my meds a while back because I would faint without warning. Also got dizzy a lot and had balance problems. I hope he gets a good combination to control his pain. As my doc said, it's a trade-off between treating the pain and dealing with the side effects. Very individualistic.

Nerve damage is a very bad thing. And often is permanent.

Best wishes for your hubby to get it under control.

Cookie- I hope you don't have the shingles.  Did I understand that you had them before?

I had them when I was pregnant with my second child, but it was only on my face and I was able to deal with it.

My youngest had a TERRIBLE case when she was in the first grade.  It was awful. Just awful.  I didn't know children got them, but they do.  She had good care with my pediatrician, and we wen to the doctor or the hospital several times a week so they could keep an eye on her.  Her entire mid section was coated with the blisters.  She was on morphine for about a week. I don't think there was the vaccine back then.

Just take care either way and let us know.  I am sorry you feel bad.

I have been meaning to ask how is Molly Mocha?

I check in every day to see how all of you are doing.  Hugs to ALL...

I have been checking in also.  You are all in my prayers.  Cookie, waiting to hear about you and the hubs.  Caddy, waiting to hear about you and the Chubs.  I had to put that there because it rhymed.

Hope all is going as well as can be expected with all of the tragedy this year putting a damper on the holidays.

 an angelic monkey

Trimmy, I miss you!
