Cpl. Jake Smith said police have received four reports in a 2 ½-month period, and they believe the cases are linked.

"Black male suspect in a gold four-door passenger car has approached four different children ranging in age from eight to 14," Smith told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri.

"It could be he's building up his courage to do something a little bit more drastic, the suspect," Smith said. He said in each case the kids did the right thing by running away and telling an adult.

Police Warn of Suspicious Incidents Involving Children

Gwinnett County Police Department also is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect described in incidents in the Snellville, Peachtree Corners and Norcross areas.

Gwinnett County investigators now are linking four suspicious incidents in the Snellville, Peachtree Corners and Norcross areas, where an individual may be targeting children.

Police said the incidents took place over the past three months, and based on details in the case, they believe it is the work of one person. They are asking parents "to be extra vigilant with their children and their activities and to report any suspicious behavior or activity in their neighborhoods," according to Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Ed Ritter in a press release.

According to police, the incidents named were:

About 7:50 a.m., on Jan. 31, 2012, in the area of Ivy Chase Lane in Peachtree Corners, a 13-year-old female was walking back to her apartment after dropping off her brother at the bus stop when the suspect pulled up next to her in his vehicle and yelled "hey." The victim stated that she stopped and looked around to see if the suspect was taking to someone else. At that time, the suspect opened the driver side door and took a picture of her with a silver camera and left the area. The suspect was described as a bald black man in his mid 30s with facial hair. He was driving a gold four-door sedan with no center hubcaps with chrome trim around the door frames.

About 7 p.m., on Feb. 16, 2012,in the area of Peachtree Corners Circle and Brandywine Trail in Peachtree Corners

Police: Would-be abductor may be targeting kids in TWO counties

Detectives are also asking if the same man is also the one who attacked children in February and March in DeKalb County -- in particular, the man who grabbed a child on March 5th (the child was able to get away).

At first the man was simply trying to entice children, ages 8 - 14, to go with him in his gold sedan. But the assaults against them have grown increasingly aggressive.

His first known contact with a child this year was on January 31st in Norcross, and he has emerged to accost children about every two weeks since then, the most recent time two weeks ago when, wearing the black mask, he chased Holmes' niece.

This is horrible.  Sooner or later he's not going to give up as easily and then we'll be looking at a missing child.  I hope they find him soon.
