Married couple charged for sexually abusing 9-year-old

TUSCUMBIA - A Winston County couple are facing several charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl, officials said.

Dan Busby Jr., 59, 178 Kidds Road, Lot 19, Haleyville, and his wife, Kristy Ann Busby, 34, same address, are each charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12, Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May said.

May said indictment warrants were issued for the couple, who lived in Colbert County for a short time in 2008, during the recently concluded March grand jury session.

The couple were arrested in Franklin County in September on similar charges.
Franklin County officials said Dan Busby is also charged with second-degree sodomy, second-degree rape and electronic solicitation of a minor.

His wife is also charged with second-degree sodomy, second-degree rape and another sexual abuse-related offense, Franklin County authorities said.

May said the couple is accused of abusing the girl while they lived at 17250 Apartment 1, U.S. 72, Tuscumbia. The apartment is near Pride Landing.

The Busbys were family acquaintances of the girl.
