Dallas Police Search for Johnathan Ramsey's Remains (Body Found)

I've seen conflicting reports with the spelling of this murdered child and I haven't seen it verified yet.  I'll change the spelling in the subject lines if need be.

Local and federal officers are now in Ellis County, searching for the remains of 11-year-old Johnathan Ramsey.

Dallas Police were alerted to the case on Friday when Ramsey's grandfather asked officers to look into the welfare of his grandson.  Detectives determined the child was deceased.  Police said the child may have died between six months to a year ago.

Police arrested the child's father, 34-year-old Aaron Ramsey and his stepmother, 32-year-old Elizabeth Ramsey.  They could face a charge of Injury to a Child Felony One.

Deputy Chief Sherryl Scott said police received a call on Friday from the grandfather of Johnathan Ramsey, who wasconcerned about his grandson because he had not seen Johnathan for at least nine months and possibly as long as a year.

Scott said police received conflicting accounts of what happened to the boy during interviews with the child's father and stepmother. The questioning led police to believe the child had been killed, though Scott declined to elaborate.

The father, 34-year-old Aaron Ramsey, and the stepmother, 31-year-old Elizabeth Ramsey, were arrested and charged with felony injury to a child.

Scott said information from the suspects led police to Ellis County, where FOX 4 News saw Dallas police, EllisCounty sheriff's deputies, and members of a private search team scouring the brush of a large field on Saturday afternoon.

"At this time, we are still conducting our search," Scott said.

Scott said the child had not been in school, but did not have information about the circumstances of that decision. Police declined to discuss whether Johnathan Scott suffered any medical problems that might have kept him out of school.

According to a brief police statement sent to media this afternoon, investigators are searching an area in Ellis County for the boy's remains. Aaron Ramsey, 34, and his 31-year-old wife, Elizabeth Ramsey, gave conflicting statements to detectives about the boy's whereabouts, DPD says. WFAA reports that the boy's father told detectives that he dumped the boy's body a year ago.

Fox4 reports that the boy's grandfather told police he hadn't seen the boy in nine months or longer. His biological mother lives out of state, and police have spoken with her.

In the last months of Johnathan Ramsey’s life, the 10-year-old boy was locked in a northeast Dallas bedroom where he was fed mostly bread and water as punishment for alleged misbehavior.

As he wasted away last year, his father and stepmother gave family members various reasons for why they couldn’t come to visit him. Now those relatives know the truth: Johnathan slowly starved to death, given only what his dad called “military rations” until he became so frail and hungry that he couldn’t walk and ate his own feces, according to police records obtained by The Dallas Morning News.

Police said the boy’s father and stepmother, Aaron Ramsey and Elizabeth Ramsey, confessed. Both are in the Dallas County Jail and face first-degree felony charges of injury to a child. Bail was set at $500,000 each.

Parents arrested as grim search continues for 11-year-old boy
 

Police said the Ramseys offered conflicting stories about what happened to their son.

According to documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News, the crime happened at the Ramseys' home in Dallas.  Aaron Ramsey told investigators he hit his son in the chest after the boy allegedly struck his wife, who was pregnant with triplets. She apparently lost the babies.
The documents reveal that Ramsey admitted to locking his son in a bedroom because he was becoming more violent, and would only give him bread, water and some milk as nourishment.

Ramsey claims in the documents that he saw his son eating his own feces.

The documents also mention that when Ramsey found his son unresponsive, he bathed him, put him in a sleeping bag, and took him to Ennis — where he dumped him.

So, this is Johnathan's fault.

Where was his mom?  Gobsmacked at how people can be so cruel ...those 2 goons who did this to this child look like they haven't missed too many meals while they were starving Jonathan...I say bread and water and their own feces for the rest of their lives.

Eleven-year-old Johnathan Ramsey has been found dead in an abandoned storm shelter, police have reported. The tragic news comes after the boy was reported missing by his grandfather, who claimed he hadn't seen Johnathan in over nine months.

Johnathan had not been seen by relatives in at least nine months, and his parents would only offer excuses as to why the boy was not present at family events or could not speak with his family. Since all his family lived out of state, nothing seemed amiss until recently, when Johnathan's grandfather called police to report him missing.

That prompted police to investigate and begin searching for the boy. After a slight delay due to rain, authorities resumed their search and made the grim discovery. Johnathan's body was found wrapped in a sleeping bag and discarded in a storm shelter. He was emaciated, and now his parents are being held on charges of first-degree felony injury of a child.

ELLIS COUNTY — News 8 has learned that Dallas police believe they may have found the remains of Johnathan Ramsey, the 10-year-old boy whose mysterious disappearance led to the arrest of his father and stepmother last month.

Police found what appeared to be a child's remains in a creek near Ennis at 2 p.m. Saturday. The same area was searched three weeks ago; this time police had more personnel and more equipment to help.

The search started at 7 a.m. Pumps were brought in to drain part of the creek to aid the investigators.

The submerged skeletal remains of a child are believed to be those of Johnathan Ramsey. His father and stepmother are accused of starving him last year, then dumping his body in rural Ellis County last summer.

"We're hoping — with all hope — that it's little Johnathan Ramsey," said Dallas police Sgt. Brenda Nichols. "We won't know that for sure until our medical examiner has a chance to do their job."

Investigators were still at the scene as the sun went down Saturday collecting additional evidence.

The biological mother of the 11-year-old, Judy Swanson, still lives in New Mexico and said she lost contact with Aaron Ramsey after he remarried.

“I couldn't even send him anything for his birthday or Christmas. They changed their numbers and wouldn't give me an address,” Swanson wrote in an e-mail.

Court documents show Swanson divorced Ramsey in Los Lunas in 2006. A judge ordered that Jonathan live with Ramsey full time in Texas.
