Sounds like b-65 is gone. Could have been a good one for the state, as she has teenage children, exposure to Sanford churches.

B-65 returns for hardship inquiry. She is the black female who was heavily into church in Goldsboro, heart of Sanford's black community.

Attorneys have asked for more potential jurors to be vetted before traditional questions. Now we need 25 people to make it through 1st phase

Judge just now: trial will last 2-4 weeks. Jury will be sequestered. #Trayvon, #Zimmerman
less than 20 seconds ago

Sequestration is best but I think the trial will last longer, at least based on all the defense delays in the Arias trial.

Hope you're drinking your iced tea and staying cool Alagary.

I'm retired and it's after 9am. No tea

Angela Corey: Zimmerman Jury Selection 'Going Well'

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey is pleased with the way jury selection in the George Zimmerman trial is progressing.

Thursday, attorneys questioned jury candidates for a fourth day. Corey told WJCT First Coast Connect guest host Karen Feagins that even though the process isn’t moving quickly, it’s deliberate for a reason.

“It may appear to be going slowly to some people, but Judge Nelson has implemented a process that we believe will give both sides the fair trial that we promised," she said.  "We said when we filed these charges that both George Zimmerman and the state of Florida would get a fair trial and we would do everything in our power to assure that."

Judge increases wanted potential jurors in George Zimmerman case
Jury will be sequestered, judge confirms

June 14, 2013

(3 pgs)

SANFORD, Fla. —As jury selection enters its fifth day, Judge Debra Nelson agreed to the attorneys' request to create a pool of 40 potential jurors.

From there, they will seat a jury of six people with four alternatives in George Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial.

Originally, attorneys were hoping to gather a potential pool of 30.

Nelson also made a major ruling on Thursday in the case. She decided the jurors will be sequestered for the length of the trial.

The ruling means the jury will be kept in isolation during the two to four weeks that it is expected to last.

Nelson cited security reasons for keeping the jurors away from the public eye.

This ruling could make seating a jury an even longer process.

"For a lot of jurors, that makes it difficult for them because they won't be able to be home at night with their family," said WESH 2 legal analyst Alisa Adamson.

Adamson said imposing sequestration could make the jury selection process even longer, but shorten the actual trial.

http://www.wesh.com/news/central-florida/trayvon-martin-extended-coverage/what-do-those-legal-terms-mean-in-relation-to-george-zimmermans-trial/-/14266478/20551468/-/1den8mz/-/index.html
What do those legal terms mean in relation to George Zimmerman's trial?
Common terms include voir dire, objection

June 13, 2013

WESH 2 legal analyst Alisia Adamson breaks down some common terms that are being used or will be used in court:

Voir Dire - Jury selection; questioning of prospective jurors. The case will have six jurors and four alternate jurors.
Cause Challenge - Request that a prospective juror be dismissed because there is a reason to believe the person cannot be fair, unbiased or capable of serving as a juror. There can be an unlimited amount of these.
Peremptory Challenge - Allows attorneys to remove a potential juror without giving a reason, unless the opposing attorney asks for a race/gender neutral reason. There is a limited amount of these, with the Zimmerman case allowing 10 for each side.
Opening Statements - Attorneys have the chance to tell the jury what evidence they believe will be presented.  This is not evidence to be used in consideration of verdict.
Direct Examination – Primary questioning of a witness during a trial that is conducted by the side for which that person is acting as a witness.
Cross Examination – After direct examination, it is an opportunity for the attorney to ask questions of a witness who has testified on behalf of opposing party.
Re-direct – Further questioning after the cross examination.
Re-cross – Further questioning after re-direct.
Objection – Statement presented in opposition based on a legal defect.

Overruled – Judge rejects an objection.
Sustained– Judge agrees that the attorney’s objection is valid.
