Trayvon Martin’s parents plead with Gov. Scott’s task force to change ‘Stand Your Ground’ June 12th, 2012

_ Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, the parents of the unarmed black teenager shot to death by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in February, made an impassioned plea to change the state’s Stand Your Ground law that they say encourages vigilantism.

Zimmerman claimed he shot their son Trayvon Martin in self-defense, permissible under the state’s Stand Your Ground law that allows people to use deadly force when they feel threatened.

“I believe my son was standing his ground…He was afraid,” Fulton told reporters outside the mega-church where the public is now addressing the task force for the first time since Scott created it after a national outcry over a delay in the arrest of Zimmerman. Authorities arrested Zimmerman two months after the Feb. 26 shooting in Sanford. “They do need to review these laws. “He was afraid…This is personal. They do need to review these laws.”

So what is Sabrina saying?  That TM was standing his ground and was shot b/c of it?  What about GZ standing his ground?  I guess I'm having a "blonde" moment b/c I just don't get it.  Can someone 'splain this to me, please?

Interesting comment...

"What do you call it when a person lies to a judge under oath?
Refraining from speculation under oath is NOT lying. "

From the Florida Board of Nursing website:

http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_faq.html#Discipline

Q:    Can a person obtain a license as a nurse if they have a misdemeanor or felony crime on their record?
A:    Each application is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The Board of Nursing considers the nature and severity of offenses and how recently they occurred, as well as rehabilitation and other factors. The Board cannot make a determination for approval or denial of licensure without evaluating the entire application and supporting documentation. For more information please review the following document: Criminal History and Discipline Information

What she may have done was wrong, but I don't see it as GREED.  The Zimmerman family lost income, etc.  JMHO

Quoting my own quote    Let me clarify, please.  I don't believe it was Greed, as much as it was fear.  Fear of having no prospect of future in come, legal expenses, housing expenses.  What she did isn't right though and her fear didn't make it right either.  JMHO

Yes.  Yes it does, indeed.

Well, I do have to say this...pressure was not applied by civil rights groups...or pressure because of an election year...when it came to Cindy Anthony being charged with perjury...my white voice didn't matter.  Now that's racist.  (No, I am not talking about Cindy Anthony being white...I am talking about my lack of persuasion because of my race).

Throw bananas...throw me out...that is how I feel.
